So...tell me about your scars.

I remember having this conversation with friends when I was younger. Sometimes, it almost seems to become a "competition" of sorts. Comparing "battle scars". My daughter sometimes like to show me her scars and reminisce about how she got them. It almost seems as if it's a "memory book" of sorts mapped out on our bodies. I used to have a scare on my temple. That was from a run-in that I had with a table. I don't remember the incident, because I was too little (about 3 at the time), but I remember being told, as a child, how it happened. I have a scare on my knee. That was from either skateboarding or bike riding as a kid. Oddly, I remember my nasty childhood habit of picking my scabs more than I remember how I got the scar. For many years, I had a scar in the palm of my hand. That one was from falling against a barbed wire fence as I was rounding a corner on my bike. Do you have scars? Do they bring back fond memories? Do they bring back bad memories? Tell me about your scars.

Do you have a year? That is how long it may take. LOL I have had many surgeries and stitches so I will just do a quick run down (if I can remember them all.... Appendix 28 stitches in leg from swimming accident 3 stitches in foot from plate dropping on foot Foot surgery (not related to previous) Cesarean section Other natural birth-related stitches that I will not mention (some mothers may know, lol) Lumpectomy (2x) Mastectomy Removal of lymph nodes Removal of one lymph node Removal of scar tissue Reconstructive surgery that basically put hundreds of stitches throughout my front torso Eye surgery Face lift (yes, I did, after all of that) I have other scars from little accidents, falls, scrapes, but I cannot recall a lot of them, including dog and cat bites. Happy living!! LOL

I have a few. I will start with the oldest. I have a small scar right above my right nostril. Its where i dog bit through my skin when i was real young. I was around the age 6 I wanna say. I had to get stitches. Second scar is on my middle right finger. A spider bite that got infected and had to be cut open to squeeze out puss. Alot more painful then it sounds. I was pregnant at the time too. Another scar is on the other middle finger on my left hand. Its where i grabbed the top of a can wrong just last year. It sliced through my finger causing me four stitches. It was also painful. I dont think i have any more but i will say the best scars i have is on my stomach called stretch marks. Yep those are ones i dont see going away and remind everyday of the months i carried my son.

I may have to rething reading all the replies lol Cutting yourself with a can. That sounds like the worst one, in my mind! I'm squeamish about certain things. I'm not sure how I'm going to make it through these replies. I never thought of stretch marks as scars, but I guess they are. Fortunately, I didn't get any on my stomach. Unfortunately, I got them in OTHER places. lol my chest and my thighs and probably some on my behind. And you're right, they are reminders of the precious children we brought into the world. Thanks for the response.

My first scar happened when I was...I dunno, six or seven? It's a burn scar on my right forearm. It's so faded now you can hardly see it, but it happened when I fell against the family woodstove, because I was being foolish and dancing near it and got dizzy and fell. Both ones on my right hand and left foot are gone now, the one on my hand was truly a battle scar (it was stabbed) and the one on my foot is from when I was running out on our wild property some years after the burn incident. I skidded to a stop and a sharp stick pierced through the pad of my foot w9which had been pretty thick at the time from my walking around barefoot all the time). I didn't get any scars from all the times I took a tumble out of a high place or a bike accident...but I had my share of those too. Fond memories? No, not really. Bad memmories? Not anything that makes me twinge anymore. It's no big deal really.

I don't have any scars. So I don,t have any memory to reminisce. When I was a kid I was wounded but it never left any scars in my knee and elbow.

Both good and bad memories, and interesting ones... The Most interesting ones is the Lightning Strike Scarring on my tendons, legaments and bones. Sure the average people will see on the outside me nothing much other than when I tan really dark in the summer my old lightning strike scars will show on my skin on my arms and legs.. But I wear pants all the time so that is never seen really.. I do not wear pants cause of those scars either its to prevent itch weed and mosquitos and because I brush up against things along in the way I walk I really lean into things and walk fast so its to keep from getting scrapped up... I had alittle scar left from when I use to cut myself when I struggled with Severe depression I put a Tatoo over that one myself to symbolise spirit to remind myself to never cut and of my promise to spirit to never deliberately harm myself again... Then I have a small scar on my left wrist on the top... I consider that my autograph of my passed on English Sheepdog Petey... My hands are loaded with claw marks scars from cats and kittens and I have Radar the cat who claws scar made a tiny crease in the left side of my face.. just looks like a smile wrinkle Guess she wanted me to smile more and not be so sad over hear earmites I had to treat all the time I never seen a cat so prone to them as she was... Then I have a scar on my right ankle.. riding a back downhill my brakes were not working and I misjudged how fast I was going I went to stop the tie with my feet as I often did.. and I leaned into to much and just went off the shoulder of the wrote and the pavement edge sliced deeply into my ankle.. scraping it it healed fast though but I could see the bone in it.. but I was afraid of getting into trouble so I never showed my parents how deep it was.. Not sure why I thought I was gonna get into trouble for that.. was not my fault the wind blew me to go faster than I tried :) ... I think my entire body is tatooed with cat scars... cat claws from cats and kittens climbing all over me.. 32 cats and kittens I had at one time one year.. It used to be riot as I would walk around the yard with 11 cats hanging off my jeans and 4 hanging on my back and chest.. My poor clothes could not take the stress the skin of my body has taken.. My clothes are all catified :) ... well back to the lightning strike scars.. Last time I went to the doctor to x-ray a bad shoulder the doctor freaked... I said whats wrong she says you know you were hit by lightning right? I danced around happily.. She asked me how many times.. I said how many do you think as we looked at the x-ray together she counted 6 times that I been struck by lightning.. and at that time it was 6.. I been struck three more since then... when we pass on if its not from natural causes the poor morgue has to record every little itty bitty scar that is not on medical record.. I feel bad for the person who gets my body.. lol.. I have scars from bug bites as well I do not bruise easily and 90% of the scars disapear within two years of getting them... Oddly most of my real battles did not draw blood.. People would not be able to get that close to me... Most of my real scars are the ones people can not see.. Emotional ones.. PTSD, and DID... is a result of them.. as well as depression on and off... I fell onto barbed wired fences myself, electic fences, running into thistles.. but thankfull I have thick skin so unless it was my hands or ankles even that time I accidently sat on a downed barbed wire fence sure it poked my hiney, but thankfully my skin was thick enough that it did not puncture it at all.. :)... Take care, - DNatureofDTrain

I actually started a discussion here on scars, last year. I have a scar over my right eyebrow where I was laying on the bed and my friend through a cat on top of my face. The cat was scarred and her claws dug into my face. I was 9 years old at the time. I have a scar from a c-section and a scar from my gallbladder being removed.

Yes, I have scars which I can clearly remember getting, some recent and some not so recent. I have a scar on the inside of my foot where I trod on a piece of cinder and it cut into me. I have one on my knee which I obtained when I tried to jump over the garden wall and didn't quite make it, tearing my knee in the process. I have one on the back of my right wrist, where I burnt myself taking something out of the oven about fourteen years ago. I have one under my chin where I fell off my bike whilst biking back from a cricket match with my dad, onto a newly tarred road, cutting my chin on the little chips of gravel, and finally, I have one on my forehead, where I fell of my scooter, and the handle, which had lost its rubber grip, decided to embed itself in my forehead. That's my lot, my friend... I wouldn't be surprised if I manage to collect a few more. I was a tomboy as a kid, and even now, I do some pretty reckless things! lol. Brightest Blessings.

Hi... I have a list of those things... - the first one notable to everyone who meets me is just above my right eyebrow which I got after falling from bike. - then there is one on the left top on my forehead which I got from a stone thrown towards me by my bro but it was an accident... - one on my right knee since my ACL operation... - two on my left knee, one from bike collision and one from a fall I had from the bicycle... - one on my back from a ladder fall.. - one om my right thigh when I fell from a tree... and I guess others have been erased by now...

Scars. I have too many to count, mostly from surgeries, but not all. Some are from a childhood bully who loved to throw hard objects at all the girls in the neighborhood. Some are from an allergy I have to adhesive tape, of all things! It gives me blisters, one of which is rather large on my right foot. The funniest thing about the majority of scars on my torso is that it looks like a smiley face! I'm not going to go into too many details, but I've had abdominal surgeries that make the mouth part which curls upward on the right side where my appendix was removed, then I've had exploratory surgeries at my navel that looks like a nose, then... well, let's just say I have eyes and eyebrows on my upper torso (the eyebrows are scars, too, not hair. LOL). Not too many people are allowed to see my "smiley face" but I think you can get a mental image of it from my description.

Well I only have a couple of scars and my biggest one is right on my temple on the left side of my face. It was fourteen stitches and I got it when I was a five from getting clawed by a pretty big dog. I have another scar on my left knuckle and it looks kind of like an L or a 7. I also have a small scar on my left eyebrow from a moped accident. Other then that I just have pretty minor scars that just about everyone has.

Interesting topic, thanks Miamilady. I have a scar on my right knee, it looks like a moon shape, when i was yong, my Dad told me this shape is going to be with me for my whole life, i was kind of scare because i think it's ugly, and i can't wear short skirt anymore. When i get older, like right now, i am kind of like this scar, and i remember i had this because we went to a cave and we run down of the mountain, i can't control my speed and my knee hit a rock, that's how i got the scar. It brings me good memories because i think as a girl, i am quite brave to go to the cave with boys. Haha...

I have a scar on my hip. That came from getting kicked by my dad's horse. I have a scar in my face. That came from an ex-boyfriend who hit me. It was also the last time he ever hit me. We did not see much of each other after that. But that was over twenty years ago.

I have one scar on my hand that was from putting my hand in a glass to clean it and it shattered so I had to go to the emergency room to get it stitched up. The other scars that I have are from me having surgeries. I have had knee surgery, bunion surgery, hysterectomy, hernia. They don't bring any kind of memories back. The surguries had to be done and that is the end of it. No memories involved.

When I was younger,I also sometimes had this kind of competition. The scar on my belly is the most famous scars on my body.I got it when I was climbing over the wall.It was ten years ago.One night my friend,Edward Chan, and I went into a garden in our town to steal grape. But we were found when we just got in.So we turned around at once and climbed over the wall.As we were afraid of being caught,we were very nervous and climbed without care of the glass on the wall. Then I got the scar.

Well, I have lot of scars. Let me just tell you one of it. I got a scar one on my wrist that looks like I slashed it with knife. The truth is I cut myself while cleaning window. I thought I was going to die at that time. But the bleeding then just stop and leave this scar. So I wonder what people thought on me whenever they see it?
