Do your cat (or dog/ferret/animal) sit on your lap as you type? :o)

How many of you have the luxury of your dear cat (or dog/ferret/animal) sitting on your lap as you type. Yup, she's on my lap right now. Yay! But doesn't stay for a long time at all. Doesn't happen every day, but it always makes me all warm and contented. Of course, I have a sticky roller right in the room to pick up and get the hair off before I step out. ;o) Also, in my desk drawer (on which my computer is right now), to my right side this year, I decided to keep the fur comb. I try to comb her (and she loves it). Otherwise, I will be blinking away fur all over my face, chest, and my keyboard is even "coughing" on it. My cat especially likes it when I turn the mini heater on. She just loves warmth even when it is warm. So how many of you have the honor of your beloved pet sitting on your lap? My kitty actually only started doing that about a year ago. (She's 6 years old now.)

My dogs take turns sitting in the "dog spot" on my lap. I sit on the right-hand side of the couch with my computer on the arm rest. The "dog spot" is on my left side tucked kind of under my arm sitting with their front legs on my left leg. Sometimes I'll have both of them on my lap. One of them likes to sit on an ottoman pushed right up against the couch--half on my legs, half on the ottoman. Occasionally one of my cats will curl up in my lap also. I love it! By the way, my dogs are not tiny. One is a Sheltie mix and the other is a "Bullapso" (Bull Dog/Lhasa Apso mix. Think Bull Dog body, Lhasa Apso fur).

Oh, too cute! I'd love to see a picture of that some time. :o) And sounds like a little bit of relaxing bliss: comfortably on the couch, leaning, with sweeties all around you (and on you!). ;o) Welcome welcome welcome to the MyLot group, Miss New Englander!

mt cat is mental. he jumps in my lap and lays there, but then he will jump onto my keyboard and even on to my monitor. he thinks it is funny. he will start puring when i yell at him. hes cute though, he loves to sleep in baskets. i put one at the end of my bed and he lays in it every night.

Stella, she's not mental. ;o) She of course wants lots of attention and love. I know about making it hard if they jump onto your keyboard though! Thx for posting.

Yes. I hold my hamster sometimes while I type. He sits on my shoulder every now and then too. I used to hold my dog and type also but it is too hard since he has grown.

Aw, how cute. That must keep you smiling with him on your shoulder. Guess what? She also climbs onto my shoulders at times, even since she's gotten big, though not as often. And drapes around my neck, but I have to hold up her dangling legs with one hand, and it does make it much harder to type with only one hand, but it's so sweet! :o) For your dog, you'll have to put some kind of bed platforum that he can put half of his body onto (the other onto your lap!). ;o)

I don't have a lot of lap right now, however, I try to keep the cats out of my space where the computer is.

That is probably wise, to keep the vents and computer parts, keyboard, etc. safer. But she doesn't do it often. What's so cute is that when somebody else is coming up the stairs to pamper her and give her some hugs and kisses, she happily meows to them, may lick them, but then looks at me, thinking, "Don't get jealous!" She often comes then to my desk, hops on, rubs across, cuddles, and then goes back to her perch. :o)

If my cat Alaska is awake when I take a seat in the desktop computer chair, he immediately runs up to and jumps into my lap, and he just curls up in my lap and purrs away,,,,I like it sometimes when I'm posting on mylot because the sound of his purrs are calming

Awww, and looks like such a cutie (assuming your ginger/white pic on the left is Alaska). :o) Maybe you should set a video camera some time in your room to catch it. Would be so cute. Ooh, and maybe play it to see if she recognizes the scene. ;o) How sweet. And yes, purring is very calming. Before I adopted a cat, as a child, my parents wanted to, and I thought they were these icky little creatures witih these weird rattling noises (purrs). Then, I fell in love when we adopted! :o)

Oh my gosh, I'll be lucky to ever NOT have a cat or dog in my lap! lol I don't mind really just that when I move, the cats claws come out and it's a YIKES!! situation. lol Having 10 cats and 4 dogs, I'm forever having someone in my lap or not just one but two or three.... lol

LOL yeah that's a lot but not by our choice though but we couldn't not take them in. 4 of our cats are strays and one of our dogs was given to us. How do we afford them? We give them their shots except for their rabies which has to be done by a licensed veterinarian. The dogs heartworm protection and all of their (cats too) frontline I get online at vetshop.com. Their food, we know where it's cheap so we buy it there which is different places. That's how. LMBO BTW, Welcome to mylot!!

Hee hee. I'm a lucky one with this. She's so nice to me and never sticks her claws out when I move. It's so cute. She trusts me like her back legs. Sometiems when I am sitting near a window (that she often just jumps up tobird watch), but on lovable days, she jumps onto a platform on my rightside (to be level with me), comes onto my lap for a second or two, and then puts her paw out for me to place my hand for her to step on. I do of course, and then, the knows the next hand will be there. she steps onto the window sill, automatically knowing that her back legs are safe to step onto my my ready hands, her stepping stones! (If you can imagine that.)

Wow! 14 pets! How do you ever afford to feed and vet them all! Are they all inside pets or do they mostly live outside?

I tried that once. I had a cat that had been tramatized, I guess. I was in the middle of a computer conversation and the cat had a bad dream or something. It awoke and scratched my lap and chest all up. That was 3 years ago. I still have the cat, but it has not laid in my lap since.

Ouch, and sorry to hear that. But poor cat; had s/he come to you recently before the incident from a shelter (perhaps abused in past life)? Hope you guys are still lovable with each other, just not lap-related. ;o)

We only have a dog now and he's too small to jump on my lap. He would sit here while I was on the computer but I don't encourage it. He's not fond of being up this high off the ground. Had to have our cat put to sleep last January. She would always jump on my lap as I typed on the computer. She kept me warm. Sure do miss her but she was a sick kitty.

Oh, Carolbee, Sending you warm thoughts and happy memories over to you for your dear cat who passed away. For your little one (dog), you'll just have to get a laptop and start typing, lying on the carpet/floor she she can cuddle with you then! (J/K). ;o)

I do! whats funny is, even if we have visitors, she tends to jump into the sofa and crawl into out visitors lap..she just love it. we sometimes tells her not to do it, just jumps off then comes back after a few minutes..so my son just picks her up and bring her inside and plays with her because we know that there are some visitors that doesnt like cats. She sometimes sits on our lap when were watching tv or just chatting in the living room, my niece loves her.

Oh my, how cute! My two kitties are both pretty much guest-ophobic! 99.9% of the time, they are all tucked away hidden when any guests come. Sounds like you've got a brave little trusting one. :o) Thanks for that adorable posting.

My dog doesnt usually come over to the end of the house where the computer is. But when she does she occasionally jumps up on my lap. But when she is on my lap she can be a nuisance. I mean, yeah sure, she's cute and all, but the way she tries to type and talk to my friends when i am talking to them can get annoying sometimes.

Oh, I never thought of that- you mean talking through Skype? She talks to them too? :o) I must say that is very cute, but I can see how it could be a bit bothersome if she keeps barking really loud. But I've never used Skype or those cameras on the computer, as mine doesn't have them.

Aww, you lucky duck (play on words, I'm realizing after tyyping "duck"). What I discovered this year (this New Year at that), is that the only other time she drapes over my shoulders downstairs is on New Year's afternoon at lunch! I'm all knocked out, sleepy and exhausted at the kitchen table, and end up slumping overready to fall asleep. So cute; two years in a row, she comes, realizing that something is up (I'm not rushing all to be ready for work or get work done), and she drapes herself around my shoulders. :o) Well, congrats, grats, grats about your newborn. And of course, I would be mega jealous too if this other cute little thing starts hogging your attention and love! Glad you are still cuddling her plenty still, it sounds like.

i have a dog but i dont have the happiness to get her sleep on my lap becoz she is almost fifteen kilos as i and my mom love to feed her.but she is always sleep closely near to me that makes me hot in the summer but warm in the winter. i did have two pet rabbits which would always sleep on my lap no matter what i was doing then. my dog really hates to have a fur comb.my mom has been biten several times for doing it to her, and both my dog and my mom resent it now. that makes me the only person who will and can comb her fur and she wont bite me. it is the same way that my dog has a bath, she will fight against anyone who want to give her a bath except me.my mom always gets into a fight with her for taking her to a bath and i can hear them fighting in the bathroom. its so weird.

Ha ha, sounds like you are Miss Popular with your furry sibling. ;o) Good for you. Yes, some of my cats over the years LOVE the comb (thank goodness), but others have despised, hate, would scratch the second they see the comb. It must be something with skin sensitivity and firmness that can make it painful. Also some of our cats, like it, but if you go near the tummy....

Cute. Yes, when she is not sitting on my lap, she is usually perched, happily asleep on her special higher height bed that makes her taller than me in my room. :o) It's right by my door, so that whenever I pass in or out, she knows I see her, and anybody who pops in can't miss her. Sleeping on a bed pillow with you at night would be a dream! ;o) In the very occasional nights that she will come onto my bed, it is usually at the foot.

My cat will lay down next to me on the sofa or at my feet. Sometimes though he will lay next to me and put his paw or his chin on my thigh and use me like a pillow. Now my 4 year old daughter on the other hand, she loves to lay in my lap when I have my laptop out and am typing here on myLot. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

My favourite times are those spent doing what I love with my pets nearby. My cats are usually in the room with me as I write and one of them sits on the chair right next to me which is not quite my lap but near enough! I know what you mean about the fur! One of my cats sleeps on my bed and in the morning I have to use the lint brush on the sheets before I can make the bed; small price to pay, I say!

No? You don't like animals? Have you had them before? Before we adopted cats, as children, my sister and I complained and did NOT want to go with my parents yearning to adopt cats. We thought they weren't cute, they made rattling (purr) sounds, and were maybe snobby. Our friends even had some. But when we had to give in, we adopted, and now I can't live a day without them! Sounds like may be a fish person though?
