Michael Jackson

I was napping peacefully yesterday afternoon when my daughter, who is staying with me for awhile, suddenly woke me to tell me the devastating news that Michael Jackson was dead. At first my mind totally rejected the statement. This could not be, I told myself. He is in the prime of life. He is preparing for his big comeback tour next month. All of these things flew through my mind at once. I immediately logged onto the Internet, hoping against hope that this was all a sick rumor, but it was not to be. My daughters started phoning me one by one because they are all well aware of the special place I have always held in my heart for Michael. They wanted to make sure that I was alright. No, I was not alright, but I've learned to accept death as a natural progression in our lives(most of the time). I have adored Michael from the first time I saw him perform with his brothers as a little child. He had a gentle soul and a genius that is rare. When my youngest daughter acquired a beautiful silk screened cloth with his image many years ago she said that she wanted me to have it because she knew how much I loved him. I still have it tucked away after all of these years. I take it out to admire maybe a couple of times each year. Now I will cherish it even more. I knoww that over the last part of his career he was maligned and accused of all sorts of things, but I never lost my faith in him and I never will. Most everyone has a favorite song by Michael. Mine has always been Ben. Would you please share your favorite Michael Jackson song with me?

Great minds think alike. I started a post asking the same thing. When I posted it, I could only think of Who's Loving You and Rock with you, But now I have to add Do You Remember The Time and Dirty Diana. There are so many to choose from My first memory is watching The Jackson Five on t.v. , I was 3. Young Michael was my first crush. This is so sad.

My oldest daughter is staying with me, sarah, and Do You Remember The Time is also her favorite. The other night I pulled up the video on Youtube and she and I and one of the grandsons sat around and watched it and other MJ videos for awhile.

I feel the same way about Michael. I think he was a special soul and I believe that is one reason why he was given so much grief. I liked the song about the boy. Can't recall the name. And the one he did with all the big names.

Yes, celticeagle, he was a very special soul, and he shouldered such huge burdens. I am just so happy that he left such a legacy with all of his music.

Yes, thankful of that. And Farrah too. It seems so strange. Glad they left such legacies.

It really is a shock that Michael is gone only 50 and I am a few years older than him. It is strange though about the doctor and now all this talk about demerol. I would say my favorite song was man in the mirror but Ben was beautiful too.

I would have to say my favorite song that comes to mind, is, Thriller. I used to love that song. I used to have a jacket like Michael Jackson used to wear and I have tried to do the moonwalk also. He will be missed.

I feel the same way as you feel worldwise. Michael is the undisputed king of Pop music. He is a legend of music. He is a legend of dance. He took dance to a new dimension. Now his dance movements have been improvised in many countries including mine, India. His music and dance will live for ever. May his great soul rest in peace.

Hi worldwise, I think we need to overlook many things about Michael Jackson and concentrate only on his talent and personality which was child like.I feel extremely sorry for Michael Jackson, the manner in which his last years were spent amidst the worst kind of malicious gossip and controversies. Just when he was planning to make a come back, he was taken away forever. I have always felt that his was the typical case of a celebrity made, manipulated, and abused by the media and the gossip hungry public. I hope that at least now he finds peace and eternal rest.. I have loved his songs and videos and my favorite has been 'Dont stop til you get enough' one of his early hits...

The way I see it, kiran, he was human, just like the rest of us, but so exploited. He was a very private person, and, as so often happens, when people can't know what you are doing they resort to "making up" stories.Well, he will never have to worry about that ever again.

It is a terrible loss to the music world and certainly to all his fans from all over the world, he will be missed and yes despite all the rumours and bad press he has received over the years that will never mar the fact that he had a wonderful voice and produced so many fabulous hits. One of my favourite songs of his was his duet with his sister Janet, 'Scream' I found that song so therapeutic and whenever I was feeling down would play that song as loud as I could and it would make me feel so much better afterwards. There are so many songs of his that I couldnt name all my favourites. He will sadly missed.

When I think back over his long career, wolfie, there weren't many of his songs that I did not like. He will truly be missed.

I was sleeping too and my daughter also woke me to tell me. At first I didnt believe it. I figured someone was starting a vicious rumor. WHen I realized it was true I was devastated. No mattered what they said about him, he was an amazing performer. I honestly believe that his issues were due to his family and the way they handled the fame. I think that we should all remember him as a performer who made millions cry at the site of him. There will never be another like him. My favorite song is"I'll Be There". I love them all really. If I had to pick a favorite song, that would be it. My favorite album was THRILLER. I remember me and my best friend went to her older brother's house for pizza and to watch the video to the song "Thriller". When I was in 9th grade, my parents had the look-a-like come to the end of the school year party. Me and my best friend cried and screamed as if it was the real thing. You know someone must have superstar status to make his look a likes be treated in the same manner. RIP Michael. You will be missed. dl

Yes, it is really sad to know that the king of pop is gone. He was such a very talented person. I am aware that there were some issues raised against the pop star. But I have not given it much thought. What I was thinking all the time was his contributions to the music industry. I think it would take another hundred years for us to find another one like him.... My favorite song of his is "thriller" May his soul rest in peace...

Michael had a good heart, jpso, and an all-encompassing love for his fellow human beings. I believe that this is what led to most of his troubles because we all know that the bigger the star is the more gossip and innuendo will surround them.
