I'm doing this in response to dieters who are upset by my cookie topic. My favorite diet combinations are: rice and beans with a variety of spices. tuna and pineapple Canned fruit and cottage cheese salad with grilled chicken lamb's quarters and yogurt salad is my favorite of them all, but sadly, not the time for it, usually in the spring and early summer, wicked power up, can get high on food kind of power So what are your favorite diet combinations?

I love salads with no dressing, because the veggies are so crisp and fresh. I may not be able to eat them since my jaw injury, but I remember them fondly!

Hi, Edge! I was accidentally punched in 1996, and I haven't been able to eat anything but very soft stuff since then. It's had five huge surgeries, and about a dozen small ones. Since the one in late August that was supposed to take about an hour but took more than 7 hours, for the first time, I'm almost always pain free. Maybe some day I'll be able to have that salad, but it's doubtful. Oh, well ... the kid who hit me was aiming at another boy, who ducked, so I got that big fist and totally shattered joints. Calcifications and tumors keep growing and breaking the new joints the doctor puts in, but he thinks this time they may not, since he removed my ears to get at them well, and installed silicon marbles for the scar tissue to grow aroun. Those were removed after a month, and so far, so good.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear all that. That must have been one extremely powerful punch with no intention of "pulling the punch." Sounds like a full power hit by a person who could break bricks or cement blocks. Did the kid go to court, jail, counseling? You're mostly out of pain now, you must have been in horrible pain. Removed your ears? This is why I'm always telling people that think fighting is cool that they need to read and learn more about the results of some fights. Emergency room workers and victims know that fights are NOT cool. I hope you will be better soon and that some day, you can eat fresh veggies. Can you have them if put into a blender?

I don't want to sound like a smarty pants here but I've never been on a diet in my life. I was blessed with a thin, athletic body and have remained this way all my life. Guess I can only say that I don't overeat at any meal. Watch my portions and generally don't eat much at one time. I do love cottage cheese and pineapple along with grilled chicken but rarely eat it. I could eat fish every night if I let myself but feel the need to eat beef some evenings. I could live on hamburgers too. Sorry I can't give you any good ideas about diet food. We do have one daughter who excercises regularly, cardiac videos, and eats alot of salads and she lost alot of weight. She dropped about 40 plus pounds. She was never really overweight but muscular and chunky. After having two kids, she said that was enough and worked hard at getting rid of the baby fat along with toning her body. She looks terrific.

Never heard that term. Hope it's a compliment..lol I can eat anything I like the the pounds don't pile on. This is why I say I'm blessed. My biological mother was very overweight. My biological father is a little man and rather on the thin side. I am guessing I have his genes. Something kept me thin all these years. Now watch me wake up fat tomorrow morning!

I guess I would have to say salad. Cut up raw vegetables are always good to nibble on too.

Hi Writersedge, It is best to eat more vegetables and fruits as the diet menu. No more junk foods and titbits during the diet session,or else the diet program will be failed. I love to have a fruit salad for my diet as i am a fruit lover. Apple, kiwi, strawberry, grape is the best fruit for salad. Served with bit of salad dressing,it taste great for the menu of the day.

You're probably naturally thin there. We have sub-zero weather coming up. So trying not to look like a roly poly polar bear is a challenge.

I would say any time of soup that has a clear base. Soup is very nutritious and can be varied and improved with herbs and spices Just use whatever is on sale at the store to come up with an appetite quenching meal that packs vitamins and minerals in a very low fat form.

If you can devise a low salt one, that works well, but I've never made a tastey soup base without tomatoes or low salt. Soup does fill a person up, thank goodness and in this cold weather, it is something to think about for sure. Thanks and take care.

we get a frozen veggie mix called Normandy Blend, we put a couple of cups (frozen) and some frozen chicken (2 oz) in a bowl and that makes most of dinner - pretty tasty too

Back when we had money, we used to buy a different blend of frozen veggies a week and have one special night of them, we had Asian Blend, Italian blend, etc. It was great!

I love salads with fresh vegetables, although I really just love fresh vegetables, period. My coworker brought in some baby cucumbers from her garden to share with the office, and I've been munching on those for 2 days.

I am truly very fond of Cottage Cheese...love yogurt....and most salads, and they can all be combined in a variety of manners to make many delicious meals! I must admit, that I find it much harder to diet in the cold weather, as my "internal furnace" seems to want to be stoked with hardier foods, like soups, stews, etc. I want HOT comfort food. I find summer, the easist...fruit so readily available, as veggies, just a few steps away in the garden! Here, on the Island, fruits & veggies are very costly in the winter, so revert to the least expensive, like cabbage, carrots, beets, onions, turnips...and basic apples & oranges! I can embellish with & remember the sunshine, when I pull out a package of frozen Blackberries! Take care, dear friend...thot of you when I was in Victoria, the other day! Cheers!

It truly was a strange weather summer...but we did have lots of sunshine, almost too much for this region, as we broke ALL heat records, which was very hard on lots of the indignous species. Noticing now, the demise of so many of these plants, especially the coniferous trees like Cedar, and Grand Fir, that require the normal high moisture content of the West (WET) Coast! Cheers!

This summer was so rainy, mostly cold, and dreary, no one made much headway on a diet this year. Think fall all summer except for about 2 weeks and you have this year. Can't imagine why I didn't loose weight. Went from arthritis season to allergy season and we'll be back into arthritis season again. Yeah, most summers, I don't care if I eat very much and all I want are veggies and fruits, but this temperate rainforest year was horrible. Maybe next year will be normal (one can only hope). I agree with everything you said, maybe we'll get our usual weather back so I can do it again.

All these are pretty high in calories. Probably either the Grilled Chicken or the Yogurt salad. Now days I eat beans and vegetable soups with cabbage, carrots, celery and with alot of herbs. Low in calories. Gotta lose 75 pounds by March, 5, 2010! Help!

75, that's quite the goal. Good luck, maybe we can all encourage each other. So many people are dieting and need encouragment.

That would really be good. Another thing that would be good is for me to get my rear up and go do something. I set here all day some days. And do nothing else but eat!

My favorite is cook a gruel, the combination are including longans, red dry dates, a small black rice, white fungus, corn pieces, peanut, red beans, it's easy to make this, add white sugar after boiled around 1 hours, I think it will be nutrient to eat moring, and it's easy to digest.
