before you try to drink it? A friend of mine as well as my mother tends to wait until the fizz has gone so that they do not get stomache ache.My mother even washes stones to put in the glass of drink as this takes the fizz out quicker than having to wait for the fizz to go.

I don't do that if I wanted to have fizzy drinks.. I think the fizz is the one that make the drink taste better and less sweet. However, here in my country, some doctors will advise to drink isotonic drinks, to reduce the body heat if we have fever, and we are advise to drink the drink after the fizz is let out completely.

I feel like if I was going to wait until the fizz was gone from my drink, then it would defeat the purpose of drinking a soda. So, no, I don't wait for the fizz to be gone before I drink it. In fact, if the fizz is gone from the drink then I will either pour it down the drain or give it to my son who doesn't care if there is any fizz in a soft drink or not. There is something that is relaxing to me about drinking a fizzy drink.

I can't do that...I always drink it with the fizz as most soft drinks don't taste right without the fizz..There are some like lemonade, pub squash and l&p that still taste good without the fizz but that's about it.

I wait when there is time to wait. I drink some of it outright when I think the fizz would spill over the glass.^_^ I dont mind a few fizz though since its a nice combination with the liquid and the bubbles. Sometimes though drinking too soon when there are still lots of bubbles, the feeling sometimes goes up to my nose and it does hurt a bit. So I prefer to wait a little bit and then drink the soda.

What is the good in that? You drink coke(for me it is Dr. Pepper) because it has a fizz to it. If they get a stomache ache they need to quit drinking it. I remember kids would put their finger over the mouth of the bottle when I was little and shake it good and then drink after the fizz was gone. I never understood it.

This is the first time that i heard about putting on a stone to let the fizz out quickly. I enjoy coke with its fizz. It will never be a cook for me without it. I enjoy the feeling of it!

I always drink my soda with the carbonation. I do not like flat soda with the exception of ginger-ale when I am not feeling well but even then I usually still enjoy the carbonation. If your mom and friend don't like the fizz of soda wouldn't it be easier to just drink non carbonated beverages? That's what I would do...lol Blessed be, mari

That's just a little weird. I've never heard of anyone doing that before. I've never liked my sodas flat because to me they taste horrible. They just never taste the same as a fizzy soda. But to each their own I guess.

Sometimes I get anxious and go to drink and then I end up coughing because of the fizz. I really like ginger ale but it is not a good thing to drink it right away after pouring it. It takes a couple of minutes. Ginger Ale will really make you cough if you try to drink it too soon before is settles. The little bubbles tickle the nose.

I usually will just open the bottle or can, and wait until the fizz subsides then I will drink it. If I am pouring a drink in my cup, then I will let most of the fizz go down before pouring some more coke or soda into my cup. I have had lots of messes with fizz spilling and bubbling over to fast. I don't wait for it to go away, this may take hours..

Hi Jugs...no, not unless I have an upset stomach, and then I like "flat" ginger ale. But for me, the fizz is part of what makes it so good! Karen

I love the fizz. Coke can get a little too fizzy sometimes, but for the most part I just drink it fizzy. To me that feeling you get in your throat is enjoyable. To me if you wait until the fizz is gone, the taste leaves too.

I don't wait for the fizz to go out of softdrinks. I don't like them when the fizz is gone, somehow it tastes different. Luckily I do not get stomache aches or other discomfort when drinking a fizzy soda. A friend of mine had to wait till the fizz was gone aswell because she would get stomache aches from fizzy drinks aswell. I never heard about the stones before though, that might be a good hint. Leaving the bottle of soda open helps aswell, but in that case everyone in the house needs to like soda with the fizz gone.

I never heard of the fizz giving anybody a tummy ache and it seems to me that taking the fizz out rather defeats the purpose of drinking a soda. But then, I only drink plain seltzer and none of those other kinds of soda, and the fizzier the better. Also the colder the better, although I am not like someone I know who puts glass bottles of fizzy water in the freezer and they shatter. Ugh!

Hi jugsjugs, I think pepsi is much too sweet for me. Coke, I add salt to it, get the fizzyness blend with salty taste and swallow it down. :) Yeah, this is something unusual. But I learnt this from my friends in hostel, almost 35 years ago! It tastes good, if you can develop taste for it. :)

I don't like it when fizzy drinks go flat, I think they taste bad. I prefer the fizz in my drinks. Coke can be a little bit too fizzy sometimes though and the bubbles go up my nose.
