I can play guitar, and a little bit bass and drums. Also I'm a good singer, or so I think. That's true, being able to play well an instrument takes a lot of time and dedication, and you need to be patient as not everyone get results at the same time.

I can't play an instrument, although I have always wished that I could. I'd like to learn the piano or guitar, but as you've said, it takes a lot of time and practice.

I tried to learn how to play the flute when I was a kid. However I was so frustraited with my studies to concentrate on learning how to play. I had such trouble equating the fingerings to the notes on the sheet music.

I started playing guitar when I was 40, 15 years ago. I'm not much better now than when I first learned but I really enjoy it. I'd like to learn to play the piano and have a keyboard but never have the time to sit down and try it. I'd also like to play the violin but I doubt I ever will.

I play a good Black Metal guitar style. None of this fancy showing off with fast moving fingers going up and down the fret board. Instead, I play a guitar that adds a deep and distorted piece to the whole arrangement of the band with tremolo picking and tons of power chords. The pure energy of a guitar tuned down 2 to 3 steps gives you when you play it is phenomenal, and I'd recommend it to everyone :D Here's what I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFn26ntmSsg

Hi Codris, I played Guitar, Piano & Violin. And yest you need more time and effort to learn to play instrument. But the easiest way to learn for me is the fiddle, it took me 1 or 2 months then I played it well maybe because I have background in guitar & piano. Another things is if you have a gift playing instrument then surely you have no problem learning.

I took piano lessons for a few years and can play but not well. Was a little too young when my parent's insisted that I have lessons. I wanted to be outside with the neighborhood kids playing ball therefore I didn't retain much that I learned. I can dabble with the electronic keyboard I have in the house but nothing really what I would call good. It's sitting in our family room collecting dust. When our grandkids are older, I plan to give it to them.

String instrument Veena - The image of string instrument Veena
My all time favourite instrument is string instrument Veena. But I never had the chance of learning it in my childhood. Now it is too late to learn. But my two children learnt Veena and my daughter-in-law is a Veena vidhushi and she gives performances regularly, even in TV channels. This way my wish is fulfilled.

Congratulations, as I have been on myLot about 3 years and I think you are the first person who asked me this, lol. I am not at all good at playing music but I enjoy sitting at the electronic piano keyboard and practicing. I took guitar lessons many years ago (classical, of course) and studied for about a year, but I do not like instruments that require so much care, like replacing strings and tuning and even dusting it :-( So I prefer the keyboard. I am teaching myself and thought because I type well with both hands, I should be able to do the piano bit with both hands to, no problem. However, the left is much more awkward than the right. So I need to practice more with the left.

I took piano lessons when I was younger and I played for a couple for of years. At that time I was living at home and my parents had a piano. When they moved they gave their piano to another family, so I haven't been able to play for a while. Sometimes I miss it, I especially miss playing by ear. I am not that great at it, but I am able to play some of the songs that I know. My grandmother is really good at playing by ear, she never had any lessons, but she is much better at playing the piano than I am. In the future I would like to learn to play the guitar. I have a guitar, but my husband is the only one who plays, because I can't play yet. My husband has promised to teach me how to play, and I look forward to learning it.

I just bought a guitar a few days back and am so desperately trying to play it. I learned a few songs, basically only the chorus part! I still can't strum properly. So I joined a music school recently. They teach one hour twice a week for a month. I paid $50 for 1 month training. The complete certificate course is for 3 months.

I can still kind of fake it at guitar and bass. I used to be HUGE on playing instruments, back as a freshman in high school and even before that. I got really good at guitar. Now, it's probably safe to say that I haven't played other in a good year or so..And my talents have definitely spiraled down. I can still kind of play, but definitely not as good as I used to!

i can play the guitar, the bass, piano, drums. i can also sing..for me learning those is a great acomplishment for me because i give much time for it to learn..for me the best part to learn on how to play an instrument is first just select one instrument you want to play and then just practice and focus on that instrument..and the best way is listening into music often so that your ears can memorize songs this will help you familiarize the sequence of the songs. anyways if you want to see one of my video on youtube(now i'm promoting lol) that is me just search francis barcial @ youtube.com hehe have a good day..thanks

I am learning how to play the dulcimer right now. This is the first instrument I've ever played, so I'm struggling, but it's fun. I want to learn how to play the guitar one day, and maybe the piano.

i can play a guitar nicely, but don't compare me with Steve Vai, it's a defamation... ha...ha...ha... i played guitar since first grade of high school, and i have to stopped that at third grade bacause of school final exam...and i continue again at college...and now i have a METALCORE bands... i just trained my finger like a finger gym...you just do this... put your all 4 fingers at your guitar strings, and put your finger at next string 1 by 1 start from the forefinger then middle finger then so on...do that until your finger is realy flexible i have do that for a long time and there are still more guitar exercise... and i just can say this...
