Even this time of year I have to have chinese food atleast once a month if not more. My daughter and my grandson go to our favorite Golden Star Restaurant for chinese food. We have oolong tea, Black bean sauce ribs, Fried Shrimp, Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Pork and Seeds. It is probably chuck full of MSG and calories galore but I love it and have to eat it atleast monthly! Do you like Chinese food? Do you have certain dishes you love?

We lost one of our best chinese places when the family that ran it retired. Still have two pretty good ones though.

I'm a huge fan, but I tend to eat it at home, rather than in a restaurant. If I'm living alone or with congenial housemates, I make Chinese or Asian fusion food at least twice a week; more if I'm living alone. Generally I'm not much on Cantonese food; I prefer kung pow chicken and other hot Szechuan dishes over noodles and served with hot and sour soup or a nice egg flower soup to balance the spices. I've been a fan of green tea since before it was a health food, and I find it's about as easy to fix a pan of sauteed veggies and chicken chunks with some ginger, garlic and sesame oil as it is to make traditional fried chicken alone. There are some really wonderful Chinese cookbooks out there if you're feeling adventurous!

I like stuff like you described over rice but am not real big on noodles. I used to make the egg noodles and I liked them but no so much any more.

This has been a big chicken and noodles winter for me. It's been especially chilly and gray outside, and for me that means comfort food inside, including cooking up a potful of chicken thighs with an onion and about half a head of crushed garlic, boning and skinning them, then adding carrots, celery and more garlic, before adding noodles at the last to thicken it all up. Good stuff, Maynard!

I love it! There is a great buffet type resturant here that me and my family love to go to. They have all kinds of dishes to try and if you want it cooked especially for you in the manner you like it...they do that too. I like it because I can try different stuff and decide if I like it or not.

Whenever I get food at a restaurant or as take-out, Chinese is the number one meal I got for; considering I absolutely love pizza, that's saying something! My favorites vary, since I have two or three restaurants in my town that are considered Chinese, and one take-out place. The take-out place, The Rice Garden, is the most common one for me to get food from, since its right inside the local Smiths grocery store and I go there often to shop for food and drinks. The favorite dish I have there is the Orange Sesame Chicken, and I normally get a three-itrm combo with that as the choice for all three items. Sometimes I'll get egg rolls. I'm also known to have a peculiar taste when it comes to the regular fried rice. (eggs, ham, rice, etc.) When I get that, I usually get three packs of the red Egg Roll dipping sauce and mix it into the rice. It helps to balance out the spice sometimes. At the restuarants, my favorite dishes are the Tiny Spicy Chicken and the Orange chicken. Egg rolls are always on the list, as are some of the pork items that don't leave a foul taste in your mouth. (Such as The Rice Garden's sweet and sour pork). There is another particular item I'll get, but I can't for the life of me remember the name right now. I keep thinking its some kind of stuffed item similar to an egg roll. Pot-sticker, or something? Anyways, those are my favorites. And unlike many Chinese lovers I know, I am not a big fan of the Panda Express, mainly because of their prices and the portions you get in return for 7 bucks. I get more from my Rice Garden take-out for 7 bucks than the Panda Express gives for one of their more expensive meals.

Yes, you're thinking of potstickers. If you have an Asian market nearby, you can find them frozen with a variety of fillings. I can't say I've eaten one I didn't like. I go to Panda Express now and then, but I generally like the local places, especially if I'm going the Cantonese basics like chow mein and fried rice. I found this summer when I was traveling in Texas and Oklahoma that the local Chinese dishes are different in different regions of the country. Here in Cali the menu runs more toward vegetable dishes and fish, while in the Ft. Worth area the emphasis was on meats, shellfish and cream cheese toppings or fillings. What is Tiny Spicy Chicken?

I just just love lemon chicken. I agree with you most Chinese Recipes are chuck full of calories and fat. I don't hate or love Chinese food. I'm more of a neutral person. Then again I guess its just because I have it every day.

I am glad to hear that. As I am a Chinese:) In fact the Chinese food can be quite different in different places in China. Usually in the Southern China the food are light and sweet. In the Western China it will be spicy. I enjoy eating all of them. I love China

Yes, I do love Chinese food and I do have my favorites. I have gotten really good at making fried rice and I make that very often. I use what ever left over meat we have and I mix that in with the fried rice. I also love crab rangoon, I also love egg fu yung, and moo shu pork and pot stickers. A local place has something that I love that I have not seen at any other Chinese restuarants it is called Singapore noodles, they are very thin noodles, with seasonings very tasty, once in a while I get a craving for that.

Hey celtic! It's a good thing I just had a bowl of soup before I read this discussion!lol Chinese Food is my most favorite food of all! I could eat it every week and never get tired of it! It is my absolute favorite and I don't get to have it nearly enough because it is quite expensive out where I live! I love so many different dishes too! My favorite is Chicken with Brocolli with Brown Sauce, General Tso's Chicken, Boneless Spare Ribs, Beef With Brocolli, Shrimp With Lobster Sauce, and the list goes on! And now my mouth is watering for all of it!

Chinese rice are cooked often at our home, we usully have them made at home as going out to a resturant with all the kids and family will be too expensive and messy too. My mother is good at cooking it. In winters we usually make different soups like chicken corn soup, sweet and sour soup etc. I prefer shrim and sea food too

I enjoy Chinese food, but not so much that I must have it on a regular basis. I like different dishes at different restaurants. There is an orange chicken I like, and crab rangoons and lots of other fattening goodies.
