What's more boring than losing at slots? Listening to somebody talk about losing at slots.... What's more boring than stocks that went up or down? Listening to somebody talk about it? What's more boring than watching a bad movie? Listening to somebody recap a bad movie... What bores you to tears and how do you deal with it?

Boring people bore me to tears. I put on an interested look on my face even though I know that my eyes have gone glassy and inside my head I am singing some old time rock n roll song.

I usually stay and "listen" for far too long while thinking out escape strategies and looking for the right moment...

Anything technical, especially computers and the things they expect us to do for them. The whole idea was to make life easier but they confuse to boredom. How do I deal with it? Put off whatever it is for as long as I can get away with it. Hold on that's the same thing I do with cleaning too, another of lifes great bores.

Mags you do links. Don't tell Dawn but I think I may have got the hang of them now but what a dreadful palaver they are.

Hi Dawn, Listening repeatedly to complaints about how hard life is and still not doing anything about it. THose who complaints are those who are so lazy to land a job. It's very ironic to see them being drank and still no money to buy food for the family. Another thing is--complaining about how to make ends meet-- but spending a lot for other things and not prioritizing the family's needs...poor money management.

[b]Not boredom, but anger hits when I encounter such people. I'm afraid I lack the patience to even stay where they can "mitch & bone" to me! Where's the door?! I want out NOOOOWWW!!! Maggiepie___^..^

Hi Maggie, You're right the simple boredom, can be an irritant and the worst is makes you really angry. There are just lots of insensitive people who are so self-centered and attention-seeker that wants to always have an audience for their petty things. Things that are not only boring but can blow your mind and heart away out of anger! Keep your cool Maggie!

I am nowhere near anything that bores me but it makes its appearance without any invitation! I have never really got into household chores as I always had maids but of late I am with help which plays truant with me and those dirty dishes glare at me - certainly a boring chore!!!!

[b]Hmm. To each her own, I guess. I'd rather do housework than listen to some know-it-all (who actually knows diddly-squat about his or her topic) blathering on & on! Gah! SHOOT me! I literally have been bored to tears, sometimes. To me, Hell consists of boring, repetitious people, endlessly yammering on about things which have never sparked my interest, & never would. "History of shoelaces, anyone? I have videos!" AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHLE!!!! Maggiepie___^..^

So you prefer housework to someone who bores you with her/his story. Seems reasonable. I have the gift of the gab to get rid of them mostly when they are on the phone with me. Suddenly my bell would ring or I have something cooking that requires attention - the excuses are several. You better have some of your own!

What bores me the most is when someone talks about someone that is supposed to be so special to them. Or if they brag about another person by exaggerating. I get so bored. And when they keep on talking about what they plan to do... Which I have heard like the zillionith time..

[b]Boring to me is having to wait for something with nothing else--book, video game, puzzle book, whatever, to do while waiting. Boring is also when I'm forced to sit through a long-winded person's lecture when I already know more about the subject than they do! I can literally be bored to tears on these & other like occasions! People watching (especial BORED people) only goes so far, & is excruciating after a while. The bottom line on all of this is, boring, to me, is being trapped somewhere, a captive audience, which good manners (or loss of a job) prevent me from just walking away! ARGH! Hm. At least this wasn't boring...but note: I wanted to be here! Maggiepie___^..^

Listening to someone’s Navy stories over and over again for half an hour a day for around five years; that’s boring! One of my bosses used to catch me every tea or lunch break sit next to me and start the same stories over and over again…Ahhhh! It was truly horrible! Watching golf is pretty boring to me and so are people that go into too many useless details before getting to the point of whatever it is they are trying to say! Booooring!!!

I have lots of people in my family that want to tell me all the plots, and subplots of books and series of books that are of genre's that do not interest me. I either avoid them in the first place or find a reason to leave. I am too busy to spend my life that way.

I'm OK with a brief (very brief) summary and then let me go read it if I'm interested, but yep don't give me the whole story even if it IS a genre that I like!!!

Boring is also when people don't know when to stop talking about the same subject over and over again. I know some people who start and finish every conversation about granddaughter and detail story what she did and what she didn't.... People who only talk about themselves and all other topics are not important. I just finish conversation, giving the person brief reason for sudden escape... like...sorry to interrupt, but I need to leave...or if on the phone...I need to walk my dogs...

Life is too full to be boring. I think the only time I am bored is when I am not busy, and thankfully that isn't very often. What is slots? The only thing I could imagine is a poker machine - putting money in the slot?

Slot machines, yep. There is an Indian casino very close to home, and we have gotten into the bad habit of going there Friday nights. Some of them are fun - if you are winning enough for it to be interesting...
