The other day while I was at the grocery store I saw something I’d never seen before. They were small red bananas. The card on the front of the display said they had a sweet banana flavor with a hint of raspberry. My Mom and I wouldn’t try them…her b/c she said they looked gross and me b/c I don’t like to spend money on anything I’m not sure we’ll like. Every once in a while they come out with something off the wall and it makes me wonder where’ve they been all these years. Would you have tried the red bananas? Are you willing to try new things even if it costs you and it turns out you don’t like them? What was the last strange thing you came across while shopping? No I have never heard of these at all. I will have to look for them the nest time I am at the store twoey68. For me I had a star fruit a few days ago and I liked It a lot but I read somewhere online that new fruits that are coming out are not good for you at all because they are mixing fruits and that is not good for you. Either way I did try the start fruit and I liked it a lot but I have never heard of the red banana yet. Take care and happy mylotting to you.

Star fruit is not a genetically engineered fruit. It is good for you and popular in other countries. I have seen red bananas, and I have seen plantains which are a different type of banana, one that you cook with.

That's so weird! I've never seen those before. But I'll try almost anything once. I'd probably have bought one. And it might have tested gross, but at least I'd know. lol

I have never seen red bananas. The strangest thing I have seen is purple sweet potatoes, when I was working at a grocery store.

I can't say I have ever seen red banana's before. Whether or not I try something new and interesting looking it really depends on how much something cost. If it is something that costs quite a bit then I will pass on it. I might be willing to try a red banana if I could buy just one and not a whole bunch of them.

Something like that I would only try if it was say cross breeded at a farm, and without added ingredients! That sound appealing but I don't know that I would want to try it either. I think that I can safely say I am willing to try things, but I do try to be mindful of the cost and if it's too expensive and I don't think I'll like it then I say no to it and walk on.

Wow, I have never seen red bananas as the ones you describe. I would have probably bought ONE, just to see if I liked it! The way I see it, one never knows if they will like something or not unless they try it! That is a very interesting combination...banana and raspberry. I wonder how they crossed those two? I tried star fruit a few years ago and absolutely loved it! Whenever I see them now I buy one! I don't often see them at the grocery where I most often shop for groceries.

I do not like bananas, and they bother my corn allergy, so I wouldn't buy them anyway. I am willing to try things to a certain extent, but I'm very careful because of my allergies

Hi twoey, am not sure about red banana's but when I was in Africa there were small green banana's mmm they were lovely and had so much flavour to them. This year though I tried yellow tomatoes they are lovely and have a totally different flavour to red tomatoes..also asparagus peas and they have a taste of asparagus..LoLo

Oh i have eaten those before. This cambodian lady i worked with said they are cambodian bananas. She made some for us one day. She wrapped them ina egg roll wrap and fried them. They were very good. I see them sometimes in the asian grocery stores and always remember her and her wraps. I have never tried to make them myself.

I do not think I have seen or heard of red bannanas. I ussualy do not eat bannanas so I do not think I will even try them. I am not sure what the strangest thing I have seen shoping for food but I know I have seen a few odd things in my lifetime. It would ussayly be in the produce section, maybe some kind of cabadge like red lettettce. or a large frit or sometime like that.

hi twoey, i've actually tasted it number of times here in the Philippines and it taste sweet...sweeter than the usual banana. It is more expensive than the regular yellow banana. Actually i haven't seen any strange things this past few days...lolz.. Oh, last two weeks ago I saw a fruit and actually bought it...it is a very small oranges..really small (smaller than an egg)...the vendor said that it came from Thailand. It is very sweet and delicious. I like it a lot.

were the Kumkwats? i have never tried those, but they have always intrigued me. They have a very thin rind and you eat them whole instead of peeling them.

Hi twoeye, I have seen those red bananas and I actually bought some just to see. I didn't care for them and neither did my daughters. I suppose some people would like them but we didn't care for them at all....a little too sweet, I think.

Hi, twoey68. I have seen these bananas before. My son picked these up at Food Lion last week. He asked me what they were and I explained to him what they were. I think that these bananas are used in Mexican dishes. I think that this is about the strangest thing that I can remember coming across at the grocery store. I would not buy it. I would have to have a sample of this before I would buy it. I would like a test before I spend my money.

No, not usually. Occasionally when we have extra money we might but not much. I think most stores have a bit of a taste available on new items. If I was real curious I would open one and try it. I remember a scene in some obscure movie I saw once where the main character goes into a grocerie and walks through the store making himself a sandwich as he goes. It struck me funny.

Red bananas is aromatic and the taste is also different. It is very delicious and you seldom see it on the market. I like red bananas actually and I like the smell of it compare to other bananas that I've eaten.

Never heard of them, but I would have tried them. I like to be adventurous, and try things that I never have before. I always buy stuff like that, that I've never heard of, or seen before. Even if it tastes horrible, I love to try, just to see if I like it or not. For example, at the store here, they have ice cream made with red beans. There are actual whole red beans in the ice cream. I had to try it, but oh man, it was disgusting. I never had ice cream that I didn't like before, but the red bean ice cream will forever be the first ice cream I hate.
