No, i'm not talking when you signup for offers. I'm talking when you signup in the front of their page. The big question in my mind is, why would a GPT site need your phone number in order for you to sign up for their site? They just had it there and it is required for you to fill it out. I found this on a site called, "dollarclickorsignup". I ended up deciding not to use it because of that factor. I understand why they would need a lot of the other information, but your phone number? Geesh. Although they appear to be legitimate they're just asking too much information and they quite frankly, don't pay nearly as good as other GPT sites. Any others who have thoughts on this feel free to share them. Maybe you can answer my question on why a GPT site would need your phone number for you to sign up with them. =)

They could potentially sell your phone number to telemarketers or what they do with cellphone numbers in some places they actually forcibly sign you up with "cellphone ringtone subscription" sites without your knowledge, But yeah, I think you're probably right. In most cases it's just another "verification" step to weed out the bots/scammers.

My first guess is that it is to sell your number on a list. Same for your address. I do not do these kinds of sites.

I don't understand that either. If I encounter a site like that that wants my phone number, I will pass right by the site. I don't understand why a lot of places need my phone number. I gave my number to a survey site ONCE and I was getting all kinds of SPAM calls from them. I think they want numbers so they can make a little bit of money selling their damn lists to other companies.

Haha, that does seem to be the case with a lot of different sites!
