Do you prefer to eat before or after taking an exercise? Which do you think is best? Anyway here's what I've found, research shows that when you eat(snack) before taking exercise it will keep you from becoming very hungry after a workout and aside from that it will improves your athletic performance. However when you exercise with an empty stomach, your body burns more fat, but your body also ends up burning lean mass or muscles.

we need to drink more water to replace the sweat during the exercise. it's refreshing and made me feel so light. light snacks is fine before exercise.

Yeah, it could be real hard to exercise with a full stomach and aside from that it could be unhealthy. It's only advisable to eat just little, more like a snack before exercise in that way it's makes you more energize to exercise and feel comfortable with your stomach. Yeah, it's always best to eat more fruits and vegetables and of course drink lots of water. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Actually this was also happens to me, way back then when I eat before exercise and then I found out the problem, it's because I eat much with a full stomach, I should rather eat just little to avoid stomach ache. And I change that way and it works for me now.Perhaps that's the same thing with you just my thought. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I always eat before and after working out, but I want to make it clear that I do not eat tremendous amounts. I enjoy eating small amounts, and I have read online that it is a good habit, because it stops your body from malfunctioning. I've realized if I eat too much before exercising I will get sick and usually vomit. On the other hand, if I don't eat before working out I will feel nausea and super hungry and end up eating too much afterward. It's bad to have an empty stomach, because it can cause your body to start eating itself, I know it sounds weird.

Yeah, you're right that's what research found that's why they advice those people to eat even little amount of foods before exercise, because it was always been a debate on what is better and best when it comes to eating before or after exercise. It's kinda logical actually. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

OK that's a bit hard to decide but for me I do both. The good thing about eating before you exercise its because all the food that you have been taken will be easily absorbed to your body during exercise, make sure you wait for 2 hours for you to exercise after you eat if not their will consequences to your action like stomach cramping and some indigestion and so on. And for eating after exercise, all the lost calories and protein that you have lost during exercise will be replenish once you eat after exercise if for you not to feel tired and weak if you are not on a diet. hehe ^ ^

Well you mentioned it right, I actually didn't actually exercise right away after eating as it could very unhealthy,I make sure to wait for few minutes like 30 minutes before performing exercise. The best thing I love when I eat before exercise is I don't look for food after exercise, drinking water is enough. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I exercise before eating, because if I do after eating I feel bad while I doing it so, I don't exercise comfortably.

Well that's your case,Me I would still prefer eating a little bit before doing exercise because it gives me more energy to exercise longer hours and after that water is just enough for me, compared when ate after exercise it makes me crave to eat lots of foods. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Well, before and after exercise, something has to be taken. Say fresh juice before exercise and after exercise is good. But i wont say empty stomach, atleast to eat something 3 hours before the exercise and refreshner before and after exercise is advisable.

Yeah, it's better to have at least something in your stomach before exercise, depends on what you prefer to eat. Fresh fruits, or some healthy snacks will do. yeah, juice could be good, but water is still best when you exercise. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

eating both and after exercise helps.if you eat before exercising,it will help you not feel sluggish while working out.it will help you get motivated to exercise more, since you are burning calories.if you eat after exercise, especially protein, this will help your body develop tissues.

Actually it's not advisable to have a full stomach before doing an exercise, it's only advice to eat just little, such as snack, just to have something in your stomach. As they said when you exercise with an empty stomach there's a tendency that you'll eat more after you exercise. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I make it a point to eat before exercising because if I don't, I will easily get tired and will just quit in the middle of it all. A few days ago, I read a tip in Muscle for Hers that drinking green tea before workout maximizes weight loss. In another article, I read that after workout, you should eat a high-protein food to continue the fat burning. I have been trying both of this tip and I have seen some success.

It's good that it does work out for you. I also read lots of articles regarding this matter, exercise with the right foods. Anyway, you're right when we exercise with an empty stomach we end up being tired and loss energy to continue on doing exercise and after that we tend to crave to eat lots of foods. Which is not good if you're trying to lose weight. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I prefer to eat after a workout because as you mentioned, i get pretty hungry after a workout but i can see the logic in eating first for long workouts and stamina training :)

Many misconceptions surround eating and exercise. Some people avoid food before a workout because they worry they’ll get nauseated or have cramps. Others don’t eat in the morning because they think they’ll burn more fat if they move on an empty stomach. Some athletes assume that hunger pangs before practice are a good thing, because they think that their body is diverting all its energy to the workout instead of digestion. None of these beliefs are true. The bottom line is this: When you expend energy by exercising, you need to consume extra energy to fuel the activity. How much you should eat and at what time of day depends on the type and duration of your workout, as well as when you last ate and what was on the menu. Ideally, how much energy your body uses (how many calories you burn) and how much energy your body takes in (how many calories you eat) should be in balance all day. For optimum performance, match your energy intake to your hourly energy needs. Of course, short of living in a laboratory, there's no sure-fire way to know your precise energy-balance status. Still, you can avoid drastic energy fluctuations by eating small-to-moderate sized meals every three or four hours. And if you are going to do intense or long exercise sessions, eat more before and during to compensate.

Well, Knowing when and how much to eat and drink before you exercise can make a big difference in how you feel during and after your workout. Yes, Some people avoid food before a workout because they worry they’ll get nauseated or have cramps. Others don’t eat in the morning because they think they’ll burn more fat if they move on an empty stomach. Some athletes assume that hunger pangs before practice are a good thing, because they think that their body is diverting all its energy to the workout instead of digestion. None of these beliefs are true. Ideally, how much energy your body uses like how many calories you burn and how much energy your body takes in how many calories you eat should be in balance all day. Keep in mind that your body burns around 100 calories an hour at rest and during sleep, so you don’t just need energy for exercise, you need food throughout the day to fuel being alive. If you are highly active, if you eat big meals, or if you go for long periods without eating, you can upset this balance and cause extreme energy highs or lows. And if you are going to do intense or long exercise sessions, eat more before and during to compensate.

I don't usually like to eat before or after I exercise. If I've eaten before I want to do exercise, I feel a little bogged down or I'm afraid that I might get a stomach ache.

I dont know what's really the right thing to do with it but in my case, I exercise first before I exercise because it is more convenient for me especially I dont have a lot of time to do it. I only exercise for 20 minutes everyday and I think that's okay already. One of the reasons why I exercise right after I eat is that I feel very tired and I am a bit weak after exercises so I wont be able to eat a lot either. I dont know if its true for other people but for me it is. I also dont exercise a very tiring exercise because I usually have asthma attacks if I am too tired. There are a lot of complications in my health but I have to have an exercise because of the very unhealthy lifestyle I have here in my workplace.

I think to eat before taking an exercise not comfort for our body, we can eat before taking an exercise just little, if we fill our stomach fully so... we cant do the exercise normally

Both, depending on the exercise. If I am going to run or participate in a kickboxing class, I try to have some protein about half an hour before I exercise. This keeps my blood sugar even (I have hypoglycemia) and keeps me from getting so hungry that I feel faint. When I'm done exercising, I try to drink water and eat some carbs or protein.
