Do you LIE sometimes?

We all know the common saying "Honesty is the best policy." When you say Honesty, it is the same as sincerity and integrity. We tell the truth for we really mean it. Telling the truth is also being that you have said something that is valid and you sometimes defend on it.
But telling the truth could sometimes be not safe. We hide from the truth and face it with a lie. We make excuses for something that we cannot accomplish and we intend to lie.
For instance, when my girlfriend sent me a text message, she said "Babe, where are you? I won't go to bed unless you text me that you have gone home safe." I sent a reply and said "Babe, I'm home already. Go to sleep now and I'll take my rest later on." But honestly, I was still on the road, stucked on a traffic. I intended to lie for her not to worry about me that much.
We are not that perfect. What seem for us that is true could sometimes be a lie to others.

As bad as it sounds, I do lie most of the time to my mother when I need to go out and meet my boyfriend. No, I am no longer underage. But she is very sick and I don't want to tell her that I am sneaking out to meet someone. The reason for this is that she might think that I am thinking of leaving her behind because I am the only one who is taking care of her. I have seen this kind of reaction when I tried working, not more than two or three weeks have passed, she is already down with something because she doesn't eat or sleep. So I have to lie in order to go out.

Of course I lie. Everyone lies. Lies come in all shapes, sizes and colors. (Ever heard of flat-out, teensy or white lies?) The effect that lies have on their recipients is as varied as individuals can be. For he liar, stress is most assuredly the minimum result. I think there are some reasons for lying: it is mainly because we want to avoid a conflict, anger or avoid hurting somebody. We sometimes don't want to admit our mistakes or just want to gain some power or we would like to feel more worthy of admiration and respect. There are so many reasons to lie and that is not so good.

Hi, and welcome to myLot!
I do not lie. I used to when I was younger but came to the conclusion that if there was someone in my life I needed to lie to, that person was a bad choice for a friend or lover. I never lied to my children, although I did tell them about Santa and the Easter Bunny but when they asked if they were real I told them the truth.
Lies are a trap. Tell one and you have to tell another to support the first and it goes on and on. Even "white lies" meant to spare someone's feelings are not good and does a disservice to that person.

why need to lie if your not doing bad things, like telling your gf that you've stuck in traffic is not really a big problem as we cant avoid traffic. its not that we are worried with our bf if they are stuck in traffic. and what if she called your home and found out that your not there so you only create a big problem as she might think your text is a lie and she will think that maybe your with someone else. all people lie but theres limitation to it. if they think that what they did will affect the whole then some will lie but if theres nothing wrong with what your doing then why need to lie anyway.

I am sure I tell lies all the time, and anyone that say's they don't is not to be believed either in my opinion.
All my lies are just little ones, and I lie to my kids all the time too; they think Father Christmas exists as well as the easter bunny and the tooth fairy.

Just because I don't lie, doesn't mean I cannot be trusted. Basically, what you are saying is that I am lying when I say I don't lie. You are very suspicious person. But you should not assume that everyone is like you, because we are all very different people.
Every time I've ever tried to lie in my lifetime, it always backfired on me, so I just gave up trying and things have been the better for it. I just can't make any exceptions or it haunts me somehow.

I do tell some "white lies" sometimes, but I am trying very hard to stop! I really want to be completely honest with people.

As far as I am concerned, I think sometimes I will lie to my friends,which I think is just a white lie.and in the end the lie can not harm him or her any more. If I just tell him or her the true,which I think will hurt him or her so deeply. So you just can decide when to tell a lie.

Yes if the situation will cause a lot of trouble I lie but I will never tell anybody about it the secret is safe with me for the protection of the relatioship that it will not cause trouble.

Yes, but not to save myself. most of the times I lie to my partner on small things. Like if he wants our kids to sleep on a certain time and the kids didn't, I'd still tell they did. Small things like that are okay.

hehee.. honestly, we all guilty about it.. we have white lies- we call-- what we call =to cover a little lie in order not to put somebody in a very bad situation.. or also protecting yourself - preventing - or not letting somebody feel hurt.. and clean fight.. hehehe.. but there are some instance - lie for the sake of getting and getting attention.. for self intention or purpose.

Yes I do and everyone does. I often lie because I dont want to make argument or to make things better, I guess.Its what you call white lies. Sometimes good words are what we need to make someone feel better that it will push you to do so. The last thing Ive lied is when I make him feel that it is alright to be with her child but deep inside me, it is not.

uuummm i have lied about some money matters recently, i am in a big trouble for that, i have spend some money from father;s account and when he ask me about the balance of the account and i lied him and said its ok, but i have to paid the money as soon as possible, and now i am searching for some good part time work through which i can refund the amount. you can't say true things everytime and in every situation, ya but its won't put you any forther problem when u won't say lie in some matters, as to my experience

Yeah, I can't do that. I would have told her that I would be home soon and texted her when I actually got home. I just can't condone lying and I don't care why. The truth is always the best for me.

I am pretty sure that anybody would tell lie sometimes. That lie is maybe for good things, just as the example you gave. I was told once that there are kinds of other lies. That other lies are lies for good. Some people told me that 'good lies' sometimes needed to calm down a situation. Still, a lie is a lie. While some people told me that there are 'good lies', others told me that you can't do a right thing with the wrong thing. For example, we simply cannot wash our shirt with dirty water. In order to wash our shirt, we need clean water.
On the other hand, I must say that sometimes a lie is needed, maybe for a motivation, or even for fun such as April Mop. The lies we must avoid no matter what is a destructive lies.

I only lie when it is necessary and when i don't want to hurt people. Sometimes, it can be big lies but this lie will disapear depending in my actions or they will become true. But all lies are not bad, i don't say bad lies only lies which can reassure people and give them hope and also lies which protect myself.
But sometimes, in the past when i don't want to go school, i lie to my parents that i'm too ill to go to school and they let me stay home lol, i avow that i have never like school, it is like a prison for me (but when i was a child, i was loving school).
I have to say that i lie easily (but not bad lies like for cheating people, ect, no i will never do such lies!).

I lie sometimes,but not a smart liar.If I do not like to tell someone how I spend last evening ,I will tell him that I went for a Movie or some thing like that.In the presence of the same person if my friend ask the same question,I may tell the truth that I was at a party last evening.
If you are a frequent liar you have to remember a lot of things.I always prefer to tell the truth as it easy even though sometimes bitter.

I used to lie a lot. But then I'm easily caught. So I made up my mind that no matter what happens I should tell the truth. No matter how painful for me, or for the other person. Especially since I expect that when I ask to know something, I expect the truth. I don't want to waste my time playing games, or believing in false pretenses. The only time I lie will be if i need to get someone out of my face for a few moments. But then those are small, white lies.

Yes there are times that i do lie but not in a bad way. I lie not to harm other people, sometimes i lie when i have to keep secrets. I guess its better that way. The most recent thing i lied is when my boyfriend and i had a fight. He keep asking me why i am mad but i just said nothing. I couldnt tell him im mad coz hes taking me for granted. I dont want him to think that i dont understand why he always have a busy time and cant give pay much attention to me.
