You guys know I've been talking about the crazy lady - well, here's a link to the news article about her! http://www.kxan.com/dpp/news/crime/the-daily-blotter-04052010 Its the 3rd one down the list. Just so you guys know I'm NOT making this stuff UP! Heck, even I couldn't dream this kind of stuff up - only "shows to go ya" that reality is much stranger than fiction!

Your right she does sound crazy. I don't remember you saying she swung an axe at the child. Maybe you did and I just don't remember. I don't think anyone thought you were making it up.

Oh, man...she looks so changed. I still remember her cheery waves from across the street. We could, essentially, find ourselves in her condition. Best to hope for the best for her, & breathe a sigh of relief for her former neighbors. Maggiepie Not fooled by The Big Zero's tomfoolery.

After living in Austin for a little over a year (2004 -2005) I had no problem believing you! There are some strange individuals in that city, and not just in one part of it, but all over it. I do love that town, for shopping, things to do, etc. But, don't really think I would want to live in the city of Austin again. Maybe out towards Bastrop or up towards Round Rock.

Just so you may update your mental image of Austin & Round Rock, since I moved here (from the cancer that is Houston) in the early early 70s, Round Rock & Austin have almost metastasized much like Houston, but in a somewhat kinder, gentler way. Within a few years, they'll be kissing. Eventually Austin will surround it, but if the usual patter of local growth continues, RR'll still retain its small town flavor, yet be bounded by freeways & junk growth (think North Lamar...). Currently, it's little more than a quiet bedroom community, but it's coming. Most of Austin has kept enough of its original shaggy character--even now--to be attractive to the laid-back populace for which it's famed. Maggiepie GOD IS LOVE. Love is never easy....

I would avoid her as much as I could, but she's be lurking outside. The roomie once caught her over trying to peek in the windows and once tried to open the front door.

Oh my gosh! You are right! That's some pretty serious stuff! Did they charge her with anything? That poor little kid must of been scared out of his wits. If that were my kid that she was threatning like that I would be her worst nightmare.

So, she moved up from assault with a wet weapon (water) to assault with a deadly weapon (ax)? I take it she came home from the water episode and this is a new event. Real good. She definitely needs help. They shouldn't have let her come home the last time.

Wow! I had no idea she & I were the same age! I always thought she was at least 15 years older than I. So...that was ash or platinum blonde hair she had...not gray? I do hope she's okay. Sigh. At least now she'll get her meds. Maggiepie Not fooled by the Big Zero's tomfoolery.

oh no, I knew she was around our age - after all, 26 yrs ago she had pre-teen kiddos she once told me that when she saw us living in the house without a man, she decided she didn't need her jerk husband and could do it herself

Yes. I recall that very well. I was astonished. I remember thinking, upon hearing it, how this was a classic illustration of how one's actions may affect others, even though the influence is done completely unaware! One never knows what word or action may set even a stranger onto a new path, so one must always try to consider how whatever one does might change the world, even if it's only a tiny part, & try to do only good actions! The effect we may have on others can be like the proverbial ripples from a stone dropped into the water. Duuuude...like, thot is so wicked deeep, y'know mon? Like I feel sooo responsible, right? Thing like that could keep you awake nights 'n stuff, like, y'now? Still...srsly....! Maggiepie (Obviously slipped into Silly Mode today) GOD IS LOVE. Love is never easy....

You know, it never occurred to me that you would make something like this up, although I must confess that if my sister told me something like this I would not believe her. You have more credibility.. She sounds more than a little crazy, she sounds quite dangerous. I would wonder if it was an axe or a hatchet, but either one would do a lot of damage. I am so sorry that she has slipped so far.

That is why I thought it might be a hatchet. I have one somewhere, that my son bought me one Christmas.

I'm glad to know people don't think I make things up, because I've been known to do it, but generally its to be FUNNY, not like this! I heard it was a "garden implement like an axe" I wonder if it was some kind of thing you might do edging with - tho I never knew her to edge without her machine. She had power edger, hedge trimmer, mower, that woman had a power EVERYTHING!

Yeah, I've noticed that she's here when the kids aren't out - early in the day or before school gets out - that's fine, so long as she's not making trouble.

She sounds more than crazy. She sounds downright dangerous! I am glad that your neighborhood will be a much safer place for the kids to live. If she doesn't end up in the nuthouse, she belongs in jail for the criminally insane!

Since it'll be a first offense, and if she no longer lives in the house, maybe she'll just get paroled out - I haven't seen her truck there since Friday - so I think the family has gotten her out, and her RV is gone, so she's probably living in it at the moment.

Yeash.... who the heck would do that to anyone nonetheless a kid just walking their dog. I'm not a fan of strange dogs but if she feared the dog she could of just stepped in her home til the boy passed.

I certainly didn't think you were making it up, it is all too believable in today's world. I hope the child is alright and someone explained that his/her attacker is very ill and needs to be taken away until they are better.

I don't know, I'm not even sure which child it is she went after - I'm just glad she's gone. It had gotten to the point where the cops were out at least once a week because of her, and to day marks a full weeks she's been gone

I read that article and several of the others. I have come to the conclusion your town is crazy and you should move away from there. They must all be infected with an insanity virus. Do not drink the water in your town. I don't want you to become infected as well.

Austin is the 15th largest city in the U.S. - just to give you an idea of how large the city has gotten. So, if you think about it, then think about the 3 larger cities in TEXAS are - Houston, Dallas and San Antonio - now think about those other large cities in the U.S. L.A., New York City, Chicago... What have they got that we ain't got? Pro ball teams - no pro-football, no pro-baseball, no pro-basketball - we've produced many a pro player - but we don't have a "home team." I think some of our problems is that the Austin sports fan has to get behind about the only pro-team we have - ice hockey - and then they can't understand it...

Hi Elic, What a story, sometimes I think people know that she is a bit odd but I wonder if the ten year old boy was agigitating her or something for her to behave like that, I know sometimes a child can be so rude, you can strange him, just saying. Tamara

I don't know about this child, but we have no loose dogs, so I doubt he's ever tried to get his dog to attack her. The kids next door maybe have when they were much younger, done a few things, but I know they haven't in the last few years, but they couldn't even shoot basketballs in their own yard without her out there screaming at them. One day she went out and knocked their recycling over - even tho it was on the edge of their driveway and her truck was parked up to the edge of her property (and the street belongs to the city not to her, so she legally couldn't not allow anyone to park there, but tried to.) She did pick it all up, but all while screaming at the house (since nobody was even outside!) No, she'd be out there screaming at the house, even when nobody was outside to listen to her - she's just gone nutz.

Oh boy, she is a concern isn’t she? I didn’t suspect you had been making this up because I have seen your references to her in other posts and I know the world is full of weird individuals. She clearly has mental issues; does she have family that may get into some kind of psychiatric care? It is sad really because she may need some kind of medication to stop these impulses to attack children with an axe! OMG, that is frightening!
