What I Love Being a Teacher

I have been teaching for three years and I realize lately then that I love being one. It is a very fulfilling job when I get to see my students learn and excel in the real world after graduation. They come back to me and share their experiences in their work and how they were able to conquer all challenges. I feel glad when i get to see them apply what I taught them. Yes, teaching offers a very low salary and it sometimes require me to work 24/7 but it is worth the pain when outstanding performers in the country increase and I feel I made a difference. Teaching entails great care and patience. Great care because whatever you will say might create an impact to an individual. It may bring them disappointments or encouragements. Patience because students will also challenge you to give them easy tasks so they can still enjoy other things in life. Patience because you have to work really hard so that what you will give is a quality information. Patience because at the end of the day, you will get very meager reward for yourself. However, as they say, teaching affects eternity. The reward may not be in the short or medium term. The reward is long term. At times, I wish that someday, I will see my students rise and shine above their capacity.

You sound like a great teacher. May I ask what grade(s) you teach? I think all teachers should want this. I know I look back to the student I've worked with and hope I helped them in some way to reach their full potential and to know that someone cares about them.

What a great statement! By the way, what do you teach?you teach at school/university?I am also a teacher, English teacher. I used to be a teacher at a course, now I teach mostly for corporate training. Yeah, sometimes we feel that we are not as lucky as our friends who work in government offices, multinational companies etc..but happiness and success can`t be measured by WHERE we work and HOW MUCH SALARY WE GET.People underestimate teaching position because it doesn`t give us high salary, well, to be a teacher is not easy, because we don`t only teach and share knowledge, but also educate them about values.

It's nice the way you tell about being a teacher. Actually I'am a student at my campus in Bogor Agricultural University. For me as student, there are many kinds of teacher. I think a good teacher is a teacher that regard his students as his own child. Teacher is like parent for me as student, every words the teacher said is something we learn and we try. But there are some teacher think he is the one that always right. And also some teacher that take personal problem to the class and give a bad feeling for me as student. I didn't mean to said a bad side of a teacher. I just said everything that I feel as student. But overall there will be no improved generation without you as teacher. So I fully respect you and every teacher in the world for giving a good educations and learnings to us. Keep struggle and a better and better teacher.. The world need you!!
