pearl jewelry - some real pearl jewelry

Friends almost all in my family love to wear pearls. My wife and daughter in laws have pearl jewelry. I wear a gold ring that has real pearl. Pearl culture to grow pearls in pearl oysters is a guarded secret. During my stay in Philippines, I got a chance to visit the island of Palawan in south western Philippines. The only living person in the world, who revealed the secret production of a rare form of jewelry and gold pearls, lives there. Due to the fragile nature, natural pearls are treated like royal jewelry. Each oyster takes 5 years to produce one such gem, and the slightest jolt could kill it. In Hyderabad, my wife bought some pearl jewelry, but she was cheated. Anybody here who wants to know if a pearl is real can view this video.http://www.vidsage.com/documentaries/52-documentaries/1113-how-to-identify-if-a-pearl-is-real.html Do you wear pearl jewelry, or any other gem stones, or simple gold, silver, platinum jewelry? Please share.Professor

hi professor the only jewelry I was wearing outside costume jewelry was a necklace of turquiose with tiny pieces of turquoise until I accidentally snagged it on a hook and broke the tiny plastic thread they were on. Now I have a zillion pieces of turquoise and no necklace to wear. I need to find someone who can rethread it for me but I am afraid the cost will be really high to do this.

Hatley madam, You can ask your son to buy a meter of fine nylon thread for few cents and rethread it yourself or he can do too.. Thanks for sharing. Cheers. Professor. .

Hi Prof. I also love pearls. I have a white pearl bracelet, and a purple pearl set of jewelry which I got from a beach resort here in the Philippines. It is so beautiful. I've seen pink pearls and black ones too, but gold pearls, wow, that I got to see. Lol.

I do like pearls and I am lucky enough to have two pearl pendants that I have acquired over the years. That said, I really don't wear a lot of jewelry, and on a daily basis all that I wear is my engagement ring and wedding band which are white gold with diamonds and I also wear a little gold hoop in the cartiledge piercing that I had done when I was a teenager. I don't like to wear a lot of jewelry because I don't want to feel like I am flaunting myself.

I haven't got any pearl jewelry at all. I like jewelry that is gold and I quite like jewelry that is silver. A white gold looks a bit like silver. I love gem stones but ones like diamonds, emeralds and rubies are way too expensive for me to buy. So I have some semi precious gem stones like moon stone. I am very surprised that it takes so long to produce a real pearl. It is a shame that a pearl could get damaged with a jolt. I am sure that some people sell pretend pearl. It was a shame your wife was cheated. I have heard India has lots of gem stones for sale. I wonder which ones and how expensive they are. I have got some gold jewelry and some silver jewelry. I love to see gem stones and wish I could afford some.

Somehow - I dont like too much of jewelry - what I identify as "gangireddhi" - we have bulls dressed every Sankranthi festival and loaded with lots of jewels. They look colorful enough, but that sort of decoration I wouldnt like on me. So I am essentially a minimalistic sort of person. I cant afford diamonds, but I am ok with artificial beads. I am not too happy with pearls though. I mean they look good, but an animal has to die to make me feel beautiful? Rubbish.

Vandanji, "gangireddi", are decorated with 'kawri' mostly,, to much of any thing certainly looks odd.. Thanks for sharing your views on pearl. Cheers. Professor. .

I don't wear jewelry so much, cannot afford it. But I like jade and emerald most. Frankly, I don't like pearl, it's like a tear and sadness to me.

I love pearls, but I do not have so many yet. I am looking for some though, but I want them to look a bit modern, since some pearls can look really old fashioned, which I don't particularly like. I mostly wear silver jewelry and white gold to be honest, but I would indeed like to get a bigger pearl collection too!

Hi, Pearls are all time favourites with all. I love pearls as they go well with most of the clothes and look good. They appear to be very delicate and suit all. I have two pearl sets but would not mind buying more. Also now they are cheaper than gold. Yes Hyderabad is famous for pearls but we need to be very careful there. If you want real pearls need to check at Kutch, Gujarat. It is also known for the quality of good pearls.

I love gemstones, pretty much any gemstone. Well except I think that white diamonds are boring (sorry ladies) except as accent stones. I especially like rubies, emeralds and sapphires.
