We had no idea what we were getting into.

My husband and I went to get some free stuff earlier, including a free artificial Christmas tree. We had no idea what we were getting when we got the tree home. It's an older tree, one of the ones where you put the branches in one by one. It's all color coded for easy assembly. The previous owners said it wasn't that big, and judging by the box, it didn't look very big. I pulled out the 2 sections of tree post and put them together. Ok, it still looked small. I fought with the base to put it together and put the post into it. Ok, so it still looked small. But when I pulled out the lower branches and started putting them on, I couldn't believe how round it was. It was about 4' in diameter. When I found the top of it, I put it on, and then I realized exactly how big it was. I had to get on a chair to put the star on it. It's about 7.5' tall. Huge by my standards as I've never had a tree that big. The old one that we had put up yesterday is under 6' tall and now as large around. So it took a few hours, but I finally got it put together and decorated. I went through 4 strands of lights just to get it all lit. But it looks amazing, and I love it. But we need more ornaments as there aren't enough to put on the tree.

Lucky and blessed you are to get what you did not expect. And it's free. God gave you an early Christmas gift to enjoy. Have a good day.

That is a pretty tree. How wonderful you got such a nice tree and for free at that. Congratulations! You can always make some ornaments. I did last year to put on wreaths I made for gifts. I used a Cinnamon dough recipe and cookie cutters. I left mine plain, but you can paint them with different colors, glitter, etc. It is very inexpensive and fun. They smell nice too.

Congratulations on finding such a fabulous tree, and free too! It looks totally awesome from the picture you posted. I've been wanting to decorate here, but with so much other things to do to get ready for big family Thanksgiving gathering here, I haven't managed much yet! If all else fails, will decorate Thanksgiving night :)

Wow, what an early bird, Christmas tree up already. It looks fab though! We shall probably get ours mid-December or so. I don't like to have it too early as we have a real one and no matter what we do or what kind we get, they always drop their needles and I hate having to keep cleaning them up, so we tend to get ours later.

There are lots of different ornaments you can make. It all depends on what you like. I am not ready for trees for about three more weeks at least. I want to put a forest of artificial trees on the front porch this year, if I get it cleared off. I have several here for various reasons. I made a Christmas tree out of a tomato cage last year. It really looked nice, kind of sophisticated. A topiary.
