"If You disagree just shut up" is this appropriate in our discussions ?

telling us users before hand if we do not agree with a poster's belief on his issue to just "Shut up" is that really the way we are supposed to treat each other? What gives that person the right to tell any of us what we should or should not think? If I am wrong I apologize, but it really tees me off. Your slant please.

If anyone lists on a discussion that someone is not all to speak because of opinions and or blief's then that discussion needs to be reported. myLot expects us all to be respectfully and we are suppose to allow anyone to discuss regardless of agreements and or disagreements. Guideline specifically says: myLot accepts all, so what would make anyone believe they can single out and or choose who can answer?? If someone wants to be disrespectful in their own life that's fine but on on myLot that is not allowed!

i looked at what I had done and felt I was just as wrong as he'was and asked to have it deleted. I was really angry when I read that and I just was not thinking as I think they probably will delegte my emoticons anyway. lol see it really did not add to the discussion. I guess I should have been big enough to say I do not appreciate the w ay you are going about this.

Members at times forget that this is a discussion forum and not a place where they should be disrespectful. There are many ways of conveying information and telling people to "shut up" just does not belong in any form of discussion, especially when they are the one asking for opinions. That "Post" as I will call it was not a discussion but a way to convey hey look at this and I am not asking for opinions at all.

I guess we have to hold our tongues even when we are angry. I sometimes feel short with certain over and over posts.

I don't see why a courteous disagreement can't be tolerated. I don't feel that I have to agree with everyone that responds to my discussion, but so long as we can both disagree politely I don't see a problem. Its when someone gets rude, I report them, I don't bother even responding, I just report.

I don't think anyone needs to be treated rudely, talked down to or made to feel bad in any way on here or anywhere else. Was this person mad or focused or what? Was this directed at you or someone else? There is a certain person on here that is pretty outspoken-- I just wonder. What has been going on Hatley?

I believe that we are welcome to disagree to any discussions posted here. There are really two sides of each discussion and that's if the reader agrees to disagrees to the point of the starter. We are free to say our opinions here so better 'not' shut up and speak out. It's what we think and feel about the discussion, why wouldn't we share it? It's not even in the guidelines to shut up when you disagree of something here right? So we have to speak out and share our opinions, agree or disagree..

hi gaiza right on we are welcome here to share ou r own opinions and if we disagree that is ou r right but we should do it with respect and courtesy not insulting. nobody has the right to say who can respond to his discussion and tell anyone who disagrees not to post there. discussions are for sharing our views and as we are a large international site we come from all over fthe world so we may have a lot of different views. thats what makes our discussions so much fun.

My experience so far with this has been that some people on my lot do not want people to disagree with them at all. I personally enjoy hearing from people that agree with me and people that disagree with me, I think both adds to the discussion. I only mind if someone gets to negative.

hi aurorastorm I am the same way as I know everyone will not agree and I do not mind if some do disagree as it makes a more interesting discussion. just so the disagreeing person does not become insulting or tells me to shut upf.

No, I do not think that the two options should be smile, agree, nod or shut up. If someone feels that they should be allowed to speak and not have any rebutle, then they should speak in fron of the mirror.

That is completely wrong, I don't think that is appropriate. As members of mylot, we are suppose to express our opinions and thoughts about people's discussions. At least that is my interpretation of this site. That is why most of us here, because we like to express our opinion and talk amongs ourselves and unfortunately, at times that disagree. Disagreeing is part of expressing our views and most of the times actually makes the discussions interesting. Personally if you don't no one disagreeing with you then avoiding posting the discussion, especially if you know that people might disagree. But if you do decide to post the discussion address it a bit better, and not so rude, some people may find it offensive.

hi fabsprecious yes I always thought if we do disagree and do itwith respect that is what makes a discussion more fun and a real discussion as how can any of us all come up withe the same viewpoints as we are all individuals. I am not saying we can be insulting as thats wrong but we should be able to say what we feel or think in respectful terms.

Definitely, as long as your remain respectful to the person during the discussion, I don't see anything wrong with disagreeing. But I do find offensive what that individual wrote, that was just completely wrong.

No, I do not agree with this. I think that is rude to tell someone to shut up for not agreeing with another persons post. I think that is pretty selfish and close minded as that does not give way to what I see mylot as being. That being each and every person has a right to an opinion and its not always going to be agreed with from each and every person here. I wonder if the person isnt just trying to get responses.

This also tees me off. MyLot is a forum where one can give their opinion on a subject thereby using their right to free speech. MyLot has laid the guidelines on how to respond to a discussion not the myLot member. This type of "restriction" only encourages me to to give the opposite response!!

Hi Hat! I do not subscribe to using such phrases in discussions. I would never use these kind of impolite words for any member, even if s/he has written something offending/irritating in my post. I try my best to be polite and if I do not like any member's comments, I have the option to ignore those comments without retaliation. Have a great day!

Hi. Hatley. That is very rude, so rude of another person. That is not the way that we should treat each other. We should have respect for each other no matter how we may feel. Why create an discussion if they don't want anyone to say anything to them or comment about the discussion? That is the purpose of someone expressing their views. "Shut up", is a very rude and disrespectful word to tell someone.

It is like telling someone - 'you do your thing and let others do theirs' Wrong. This is a round about way to tell someone to shut up. Hatley there are many who do that here but rather than kick off dust it is better to move on. I don't think any user has a right to tell off another user. Even Admin does not do it.

It is just so rude to say so. I think the agreement and disagreement shall be both welcome for our discussions. This is a free forum and therefore all kinds of opinions are allowed. Even if the people don't agree with you, but they can still have rights to share their opinions or have a debate. If you just want to hear one voice, then the forum is not suitable for you. hi ifa yes mylot does pay us to express our opinions but in a kind and respectful way so that he or she understands we are not being rude nor disrespecting their opinions also. I did ignore him, but only after I had written an angry response and I asked mylot admins to please delete my response as it broke mylot rules and I did not want that in the discussion at all. I noticed that they did delete his discussion shortly after I had posted this discussion. I did not report him but I am sure mylot is not stupid and found that and felt like I did. ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Dear Ms. Hatley, I believe I missed that discussion and it is good for me. I want peace on MyLot Family and such things are disgusting and shocking. But people would be people - Many Good and A Few Bad. Those who do get into such things forget two things for sure - 1. They lose respect and 2. They kill the aspirations and expectations of the Newbies around - some of the newbies feel scared when they see such things happening around and form a wrong opinion of such a wonderful platform. For me, I do apologize if I think or am convinced that I am/was wrong. And if I have any disagreement on any discussion, I know two ways - If I have to put across my opinion, I do it politely and if I can move on to another discussion without responding, then I move on. Regards, theSids.
