I am interested in discussion branch of Mylot and I oten find very lengthy discussions started by members. Some times I feel confused as I slowly read the entire discusstion and at the end I fail to understand the pupose for which it has been started.Similarly when I go through the responses to the discussions I started I fail to make out essence of the response.Though Mylot states that they should be as descriptive as possible it does not mean very lengthy one.Once you make yourself clear by your words you need not repeat the same idea again and again. What do you say...?

well..I'm new here... and i was told by some mylotters that to earn more you should post lengthy answers or discussions in order to earn money here..one sentence answers are a no-no. So since you're already a expert in mylot. I would like to ask you do i have to post lengthy answers/discussions to earn here in mylot? Thanks

No,it is not necessary to give long and meaningless response to get good earning, you can give short response but meaningfull according to your knowledge, and short means not,yes or no or thanks etc, short means to the point answer and share your knowledge which is either in two lines or 10 line but quality worth here. so you can earn good.

Hi! =) I am going to say 'ouch!' to your post. Because I have just written a really really really long discussion today, and so I feel quite guilty of what you are talking about. =P This is not new to me, i.e., writing lengthy things. I would even say I have a reputation for it, even outside of myLot... The reason why I do so is because I want to be very clear about things I say, and also I want people to understand where I am coming from. In my mind, one way of achieving that is to be as specific as possible. Of course, that usually ends up in very lengthy posts. =P Now, your question is: is it necessary? No, it is not. I agree with you that once you have made yourself clear, that should be enough. (The problem with me though, is that by the time I feel I have made myself clear enough, I have already written a novel! =P ) Anyway, it all boils down to personal preference I suppose. If you are comfortable enough with writing short discussions and responses, well and good! If you see a long discussion, you can choose not to spend time reading it, and move on to the next. Have a nice day! =)

As you can see above, i write long responses at times. And my feeling is longer responses earn more anyway. I don't intentionally write long responses. i just say what i have to say as long as it takes me. But when i start discussions, i like to try to make it short if i can-because the shorter it is-(as long as it's clear and interesting) the more likely to get responses.

If English is not your first language, then it's obviously better for you if people were as brief as possible, but I've noticed that quite a few people tent to ramble on and also make blog type posts in which they are writing about personal experiences and day to day things. They tend to go on at some length in the process. Why not just ignore them and concentrate on the shorter posts that you can read easily? At least until your proficiency in English improves - as it will do with daily practice here.

Hi! =) I guess I'm one of those people you mention who make blog type posts... The reason why I do that is because I derive the topics I think of from these personal experiences and day to day things. The telling of those experiences then serves as the introduction to my discussion. But yes that tends to result in quite lengthy posts. I suppose it's not (always) necessary. But to me, there are times when it is really part of the 'story', if you will... I accept that there will be many people who will not spend time reading through something that looks quite long at first glance. (My remedy to that was typing some of it in bold type so people can go directly to those parts and skip the rest. =P ) In any case, it is perfectly alright for people to choose to ignore lengthy posts and move on to the shorter ones, if that is what they prefer. Have a nice day! =)

I used to hate long discussions but I did not realize that I myself can be long winding sometimes. I like to read lengthy discussions provided the topic is interesting, well written and informative. There is no hard and fast rule requiring us to write lengthy discussion as long as your post is descriptive and being descriptive doesn't mean a full screen of words.

Sometimes we don't like to read lengthy discussion. The guides also say we should be descriptive only.It does not lenthy one.Similarly there is no point in posting lenthy response. The purpose is only to reply in precise terms and need not be very narrative..

First of all, from my experience, we get a lot more money for starting discussions than for responding. And if i'm not mistaken, it doesn't matter how long your post is when you start a discussion. What will rack up the pennies is if you get a lot of responses to the discussion. And even more if you respond to each response you get. I would think the shorter you make the discussion you start, the better, because when it's too long, people lose patience before they finish reading, and don't respond. If you want many responses, make the discussion your starting short and sweet, but make it something interesting and or controversial, to spur interest. As for responding, i respond to people sometimes to be nice-if the discussion interests me. But from my experience, yeah, the longer the response, the more money you'll get but it's still miserably low. The best is to start discussions. Starting discussions still doesn't make much-nobody gets rich on mylot-but it's a lot more than responding

"What will rack up the pennies is if you get a lot of responses to the discussion" We do NOT earn anything for the responses that others post on our discussions. They earn for them. We ONLY earn if we comment back to them. If you use myLot to discuss instead of just 'posting' you will see that the earnings are no longer 'miserably low' and that it is possible to reach payout, and more, every single month.

Yes I understand that my merely posting any response or starting any discussion does not fetch you anything. That is what every members says but it should be quality discussion and positive response..We should not merely concentrate on making money.Mylot is a learning site and not earning site.We are here to make friends and share our knowledge and experience with others. The length of the posting is of not much significance..

I guess in starting a discussion it should not be so long that some members may lose interest in reading it.If possible short enough to understand what your topic or discussion is all about.

Hi Chaya, For me, it actually depends on the topic being discussed. If a discussion calls for details and more information and I have something to share, then I would gladly expound on my thoughts. Questions regarding relationships, past experiences and anything about life would most likely need a more lengthy answer than the survey type questions. What is important is to get the relevant information which is the reason why such topic was posted.

you have a point in there. Sometimes, when I read through the discussions or the response, I become bored. so what I do is just skim to the paragraphs and all. But you see, maybe some people don't know that they are some kinda beating around the bush. ;)

I think it is not sensable to start long discussion or post complete story in discussion i fairly say that i can't read the long discussion so i dont answer of long discussion, i think discussion should be meaningfull and to the point so everyone can get point from it and members tgought that long responses and long discussion make high earning but its not so much true if you give to the point response and meaningfull discussion so you can earn good.so i think my response is going to long so bye.

Yes, a small and clear idea or response is enough
