Pain forgotten, new rant...

So I came home yesterday with a Jamba Juice and some cupcakes, and Dearra wasn't at all mad at me for making her go to school yesterday. But this morning was another day, another rant.
Apparently her new (two months old approximately) jacket is getting a little short in the sleeves. Also, with all this rain, it doesn't keep her dry.
Never mind that I offered to take her to Burlington Coat Factory and find her a rain coat a few weeks ago, and she didn't feel like going. Never mind that I offered her a rain coat that I had bought in Germany, and she would rather get wet than wear it because "it's ugly".
Never mind that I told her to stop growing, and she just won't listen.
Guess where we're going tomorrow.
If you guessed Burlington Coat Factory, you have just won yourself a fake trip to Hawaii and a fake million dollars.

It is so funny. Both of my husbands have been tall, both of them have been nicknamed Ichabod (from Washington Irving) because of how their sleeves fit. Take my work for it, even if you put bricks on your children's heads they do not stop growing. Have a fun shopping trip with darling Dearra.

This is why I try to get clothes that are slightly larger than the children. At least then if they don't destroy it.. the clothes will fit for awhile. They've all gotten accustomed to wearing things that are baggy. Unfortunately my daughter has both big and small clothes.. because she has to seriously have outgrown her clothes before we get rid of them. With the boys I just put it away for the next boy in line.

Glad that Dearra is feeling better :)
And a new jacket it is, eh?? Kids grow so quickly...esp. when you don't want them to!!
I've saved a lot of my older son's good clothes for his younger brother....but the older one outgrows HIS clothes n 2 months.

Yep, a nice light blue rain jacket with a warm lining.
Therefore the sun came out today, and there will be no rain all week. :D

Okay since the not growing then you can simply laugh it off. When you say let's go shopping for a jacket and she does not feel like it then, when she complains the jacket does not fit and does not keep her dry then you can just laugh and say well there are some at Burlington Coat Factory that were waiting for you a few weeks ago.
But I suppose that will not make her chuckle at all, so have fun with her not the many you suggest while shopping. LOL..

Well, in a lot of ways this is one of the reasons why I guess I was never able to have any kids as would I been able to bring them up correctly to where they could have had the things they need? Kids do tend to grow so fast these days it really makes you wonder when buying them new clothes what size to buy, and then for shoes especially. And since most want to stay in the trend like their friends at school this can make it even more expensive as well.

You can give the million dollars to someone else. I am already collecting my second million.. Failed with the first one..
Anyway, we have all been teenagers..

Might fail with the second million too..
Unless it´s a fake million..
No problem, I buy most clothes from recycling shops - in Finland they cost 1 Euro or less - a little more than 1 $ and I don´t need a million coats..the summer is coming anyway..

I would just take some of the Jamba Juice and a cupcake. I love Burlington Coat Factory! The first time I went there I in the store for like three hours. I went to leave the alarm at the door went off. There was this big production number having them ask me to come back in and checking me out like I was a common theif. I don't what set it off but ya know I haven't been back in there in over a year!

Well, the place is probably full of last seasons stuff. Heaven forbid a young girl to wear last seasons stuff!

She did not like anything there, but I did get the joy and the pleasure of listening to her rant about how she hated everything, and why would anybody wear that stuff. Then we went to Sears, and she liked something right away. $79.50 discounted to $22.50. lol

Did somebody already claim the fake trip to Hawaii?
It's hard telling the kids to stop growing. I've tried a few times. Specially for my older one. He's not that cute anymore. He's been asking me if 11 would count as a teen, as he is turning 11 this year.
I'd hate to know what he'll be asking whe he's actually turning 13...

could always offer her a pair of dishwashing gloves :) .. don't worry about it she loves her old coat. she is just not happy she is outgrowing it is all.. eventually she will take the other options.. just have to let her outgrow it more, or wear it out..

Dearra is the queen of the rant. And usually it's funny, but sometimes I have to stop her, because she can get quite rude when she's mad.

hi dawn oh the joys of motherhood lol lol oh and I did guess
Burlington Coat Factory. so I am up for the fake Hawaii trip and
of course the fake million dollars . lol lol.Oh I remember when
my son was little and he was forever leaving his jacket some place.
I bought him a new one and he said he would not wear it as it was
"ugly" so we returned it and he picked out one he liked and I wanted
to laugh as it was one of the ugliest jackets I had ever seen lol.
Nope they will not listen when you tell them to quit growing.

Well the funny thing is, we went there, and she didn't like one single thing that she saw, and I had quite a time listening to her mock everything about it. Then we went to Sears, and the very first jacket she saw, she liked. So we could have saved ourselves an extra 1/2 (each way) drive).

I think that something like this has to be something that comes with the territory of the age. Unfortunately, it also means that I am in no way, shape or form looking forward to my daughter getting to the age that she starts acting like that. What I mean is that I am starting to be able to see glimpses of the teenager that she is going to be and those glimpses drive me insane, so I can only imagine how badly I'll need a drink when she actually is a teenager.

Teens can be difficult. Thanks for the reward! My son did not want and did not ride a bicycle I bought for him because it did not have a tiger's stripes. I had to trade it for the one he wanted ultimately.
