This Cold Is Driving Me Nuts... Have You Had It Too?

Personally for those of you who have never had this Cold, or the Cold and Flu that is going around, at least thru my job where I work, you are lucky. It is miserable and making me feel horrible. I am always freezing, and it does not help our temperature has also gotten a lot colder in the last 2-3 days. But mine started with a Bad sore throat, fever, chills, and just tired and achey. That lasted me about a day or two and then I felt better. Then just a couple of days later I really started coughing, achey, chills, and today stayed home from work even and considering going and laying down for a bit until dinner is ready as well. My sugar levels are running a lot higher as well. All I can say is it has been a couple of yrs. since I had a cold and personally I think overall they say the Best thing to do is usually just wait them out, and get lots of sleep. Just wish it would not have knocked on my door right now. ~~TINA~~

I hate having colds!! I haven't had one in a long time though - Im not sure why either. But I have had some seasonal allergy problems. They are pretty much easier to handle since there's no fever and I don't really feel all that badly.

I thought I was only having allergy symptoms and I was treating them accordingly. There were a few stressful things that came up in the last few days and that may have been what turned this into a real cold with a fever.

I have found that stress can have some very serious adverse effects! Hopefully you will feel better soon too!

Yes, stress can really add to the way you feel. I am feeling a little better tonight and actually not feeling that feverish, but really tired still so heading off to sleep again soon. Was really going to try and stay up a while longer so I will not be too tired before I go to work tomorrow, but not going to make it. At least I am not coughing as much now as I was earlier either.

I don’t think there is ever a good time for catching a cold. I never used to get them very often either but this year I’ve had three already! The last one was an awful one because my voice almost disappeared and my chest and throat were on fire! It is still hot here so having a cold is even more uncomfortable. I must be run down because I eat well and take vitamin c every day so…Go figure. I hope you’ll feel better real soon KrauseHome!

Well, I am now feeling back to normal for the most part. I work with someone who has had a really Bad sore throat and lost her voice even but still coming to work because where I work you are made to come to work unless you have a Doctors note. Hope you can stay cold ridden for a long time from here.

I am sorry to hear that. I sure hope you get to feeling better. We have not had that kind of cold yet and I hope we do not get it. We cannot afford to be sick right now. We have had some bad ones in the past and I sure do not miss them either. Get some good rest.

Well I am pretty much over the cold now. My husband due to having Asthma is still suffering some with his. But I do know that where I work everyone has had this, or just coming down with it, and most of the time we have no real choice but to just come to work sick. Crazy huh?

I am sorry to hear that. I hope you will get well soon. The cold seems to be normal. I know even if it is not a big illness, but it is still suffering. I think having a good rest and drinking a lot of water will make your symptoms get better. I love China

I am now feeling for the most part 100%. Still cough from time to time though. The good thing is I do not get Colds that often and mine was not as bad as what my husband got which was a plus for sure.

I dislike this time of year because of the wind. I had the yuck cold thing too awhile back. I might get one about once a year now. I wait mine out too. Usually take some anti-congetant and allergy meds just to live through it. Hate the head congestion! I get bad sinus headaches and feel like my head is going to blow off. So are you better now? Hope so.

I think the best thing is to usually wait it out unless you just feel like you cannot do anything else. The problem is where I work they make you come to work sick so everyone continues to pass it back around. Once my husband gets a Cold though due to having Asthma it could take him around a month to get rid of.

I just let it go unless I get uncomfortable. I get sinus problems this time of year and they aren't fun. Asthma can be scarey.

For the past years i have not gotten any colds and cough. I kept telling my office mates that, because they noticed me too. But lo and behold, at the onset of January this year, i caught a cold and cough.I had them for more than a week, before deciding to go to the doctor. The doctor gave me a strong antibiotic that after 3 days it was suddenly gone. I guess, my immune system was down because of the cookings and washings of the utensils that i have done during the holidays.

You are lucky that what the Doctor gave you helped in 3 days. I work with someone who went to the Doctor on Saturday and was still feeling miserable yesterday and she is only going on 24. I guess for some people fighting off colds and illnesses is easier than for others. Just glad for the most part mine is now gone, and finally my husbands seems to be getting closer to being gone as well.

Man, I think I caught your cold through the computer. I had a sore throat two nights ago and all the next day. Now it is gone, but I have an ear ache and cold symptoms. I get so wimpy when I am sick. I do not want to do anything. I took a long nap this morning, and I will only be up about an hour more.

Well, I am feeling quite a bit better now, and hope you are too. My husband still is not feeling the Best, but he also has Asthma so that does not help any. Just trying to not overdo it until I know I am 100% though as well.

I've been hearing a lot about colds and the flu that's going around. I'm staying home more often these days because I don't want to catch it. Having lupus makes me more prone to get it. I really hope you get better and soon! I know having either one is miserable.

Hi. KrauseHome. I am sorry that you are feeling so bad with the Flu. I was sick last week on Tuesday with the Flu. I have gotten better by Wednesday of this week. I still had come cold left in my nose, that I was blowing out with the tissue, but I feel a whole lot better now. I have been sick every month out of this year with the Flu so far. It is definitely something going around and it is contagious too. I am so happy that my kids did not get sick like I have last week. I was so sick until I could not do anything for myself or for my kids. I was chilly and I had a headache that was annoying. I also was not hungry at all. It was really bad because I could not go anywhere. I hope that you will feel so much more better very soon. Get plenty of rest because resting helps you to heal more quickly then. Also, drink plenty of fluids, especially fluids that have Vitamin C in it. Take care.

Wow! You sure have been having a time of it lately! I hope you start feeling better very soon. I know how miserable colds can make you. You're right about waiting it out and getting lots of rest but also drink lots of fluids. I try to take zinc as soon as I feel a cold coming on and it really does tend to shorten the duration of a cold but you have to take it at the first sign or it won't work. Echinacea also helps the immune system to push that cold virus away. It's been awhile since I've had a cold (knock on wood!). I even managed to escape catching it from my husband who just recently had it pretty badly with just about the same symptoms as you described. He was totally miserable and did his best to let me know about it. Thankfully, he's over it now.

Well I am feeling a lot better these days which is good. I think my fever and chills part of it is pretty much gone as well. My husband is still coughing from time to time with his, and hope since he is suffering from it still, and have people I work with dealing with it, that I do not end up having a rebound with it.

Oh yes i have it now and it is making me crazy..mine is runny that i do not like it..it is uncomfortable and is giving me headaches, been taking a lot of fluid so i could recover faster. I had chills the other night and took meds right away so i wont have it again. I hate colds because it really is annoying and it dissappears sooo slow. My huby said i have weak immune system right now because i've been having it. But it is also because of the weather, in the mornign it is soooo hot and at night it is soooo cold..there is just no balance and its crazy here!

I am sure that our crazy weather is not helping with everyone getting colds around here either. And then everyone almost where I work has one, and since the ventilation etc. is bad the germs only seem to linger to make it worse for everyone for sure. But the fevers and the chills and just feeling really tired all of the time is not a good part either.

Awwh no not a cold. I hate having colds although knock on wood I have not had any in a year. Where as prior to a year ago I use to get sick every 2 - 3 weeks. I found myself sick all year round for a few years. I started to eat healthier and drink lots of water, which is something I never did. Thankfully I was only sick once last year. Drink lots of fluid and rest a bit and hopefully it will pass soon.

Well, for the most part I do consider myself Lucky with being Diabetic and some of the other issues that this is my first real cold in a couple of yrs. and overall I do not have it as bad as some of the other people I work with, so I think it is mostly based off of others at work having this as well. I have been drinking a lot of fluids and resting. Have to work tomorrow and then off for the weekend so that is going to be a help.

Hi Tina! I hope you are doing well now. I am in the same boat as you are when you were sick 2 weeks ago. Actually I got used to having the colds specially when we are living in the coldest city in my country. There wasn't a month that I haven't any colds then. It usually starts with a sore throat, then comes the cold and a little cough. I usually get sick with it, but I hardly take any medicines. I don't want to get used to medicines or antibiotics. I prefer to use home-remedies available in my home. I wish I could get well soon!

Ugh.. I hate colds as well. this last bought of colds my family had, really left us feeling weak and just ugh. My daughter even missed several days of school because of it. My hubby ended up with a sinus infection as well. We stocked up n vitamin C and Vitamin D. Hoping that scares away any future cold germs!! lol.. Hope you strt to feel better!!!

Hi Tina, hope you feel better real soon. I had a bad sore throat for over a week, had a cough with i too. My cough lasted for over a month, just could not shake it. I used cough medicine, put vicks vapor rub on my chest. it just hung on and on. I am happy to say it is gone now.
