So we have these three little foster kittens. Two are old enough to go in to the clinic for neutering, and then up for adoption, the third is smaller. The two older ones have the run of the house, and the younger one, a gorgeous tabby, is very spooked, so he gets brought out and held, but he's staying the bathroom when we can't watch him. Anyway, of the two older kittens, a fluffy gray one and a shorthair black one, the black one is really hyper and is into everything. The gray one is very placid, except where it comes to food. Often, when I open the refrigerator door, there they are climbing on in. I get what I want, move the kitten, and close the door. Yesterday morning I was in a hurry and was getting fruit to pack in my lunch. I went to get something else, and I heard this meowing. Muffled. I looked around, and saw two of the cats sniffing around the refrigerator. Dearra opened the door, and there was the black kitty, slightly chilled and very happy to get out. I hadn't even seen him go in. Yikes.

Awww how funny and cute! I'm glad the kitty got out. I've had that happen before when a kitty got into the fridge unseen. Glad it wasn't the freezer!

Yeah it could be.. I doubt that 9 lives would be in effect if accidentally closed up in a freezer! Yowwwww!

Awww that is so cute, I'm glad he's ok! My cats haven't tried to get in the fridge yet, but they sure love to lay on top of it. I used to have a cat who was always trying to get in the clothes dryer, now that was a scary time when I turned the dryer on and didn't see her, I heard this thumping sound, opened the door and the poor girl flew out of there! Silly cats!

I've had a kitty get into the drier before too, but never turned it on... I saw it there and took it out.

I have a bottom freezer so they are not usually in a place to get in the fridge. I am glad you found your little one before he became a catsicle or worse. I do sing to my cats as I hold the door open. "The cats come in, the cats go out, the cats have whiskers on their snouts." They seem to like it and know it is about them.

Second verse: The cats go out, the cats come in, the cats have whiskers on their chins." Can you tell I once taught preschool, where you sing about every part of your day, everything you do and everywhere you go?

Wow, that sounds like what my dogs do, except they don't get stuck in a refrigerator, (they are too big to fit in for one) but they get locked in the bedroom..See, the laundry room is off the main bedroom and when I do my laundry like today, at least one dog will get locked in. Today it was Penny, and Ciara was in the hall, wining at my door, and when I opened it, there was Penny..lol

uh oh well atleast he's alright but I've never heard of a cat wanting in the fridge though I think my ex's cats like to snoop around the fridge some. Cats are just adorable little creatures, bet that one won't go in the fridge for awhile. I had a kitty who like water.

They are very good at getting into strange and peculiar places. We have an adult cat, Axel, who we adopted late last year from the RSPCA. Since getting a new bed we have noticed that the storage drawers are often left open. We quietly muttered to ourselves that we couldn't understand why each other were leaving them open. One morning I opened a drawer to find Axel leap out. Throughout the day he opens them as he sees fit, to kip on the laundry.....

Next time he might not climb in the refrig! They are funny little creatures though. I was watching funniest home videos the other night and they showed a dog that opened the refrig door and helped himself to a slice of pizza! They are all so amazing at time! Good thing he got out though!

When I put up some of my cat comic strips, Welcome To the Zoo (based on real events) here, I'll be sure to include the one based on a similar event, but with a different happy ending. That is alittle scarey! Cats are so able to move around quickly and get through things and their bodies are so flexible. I have found cats in some odd spots and wondered how they could have possibly have gotten there. They are tough and resiliant. My granddaughter found a little kitten just afew days old in the fence in our back yard. Got away from its mom and the other kittens. Alot of vines and wood.

That was years ago. That cat was always getting itself into a scrape. From racoon incounters to getting set on. It loved to nuzzle down in the couch and we'd set on it. We started having to scour the couch before we set down. SIlly thing. I always pick the runt of the litters and I think she was. Small and just a nut of a cat.

I've neverdone that, now the cloths dryer is another matter, kittens are especially attracted to a nice warm dryer on a cold day. Glad you got him out in time.

Awww! That reminds me of Klimmy, a rather "mental" tortie cat who did strange things like sleep in the tumble dryer. The times Mum tumbled her (albeit it only for a few seconds) is frightening, so I know where you're coming from on this issue. Do you think the kitty will repeat the process of climbing into your fridge?

Oh dear..bit like Klimmy. Even after being tumbled she'd still go in it. Yes, I believe the torties are a "manufactured breed" which explains a lot. Always females too.

That's funny, I had that happen with me with my dog, when she was a smaller puppy about probably about 6 months old, my mom was cleaning the top of the refrigerator and placed a step stool right in front of it. My dog used to get amused by going up and the stool and in one of the occassions my mom was taking out some food from the freezer and apparently she didn't notice and she feel inside. About 5 minutes later, we started hearing the little whinning sound, we knew it was her but we couldn't find her, about 2 minutes of listening we opened the freezer and there she was. She was tiny at the time, so she fit in the freezer with extra space to walk around in. After that day, she never again climbed those steps again.

LOL! This made me laugh. Good thing you heard the poor little guy meowing. It could've been an ugly evening otherwise. My cats stay away from the refrigertor but they sure like the cutting board. My husband feeds them and the dogs something they probably shouldn't have on a daily basis. I'm not blaming it all on him. I'm just as guilty. However, I believe I make better choices on what they can and can't have. Best Wishes

When Flower and Blossom were kittens, Flower got in the fridge once. She spent 5-10 minutes in the fridge, while the roomie and I were opening EVERY door in the kitchen trying to find her! The roomie finally opened the fridge - or was it me? - and there she was. A little chilled, but unharmed... I have to say, that since then, you open a fridge or the freezer, she runs the other way!

Oh my goodness. Well.. that's actually a little bit funny.. of course it's only funny because the kitten is okay. One of mine has climbed in the dryer a few times.. thankfully no mishaps there. I'm generally a very cautious person with all the cats and kids around.

Over the years of having cats and dogs and cats and dogs, I've had to train myself to know where everyone is at all times. My current two are too big to get into the 'fridge though. I've had 'em locked in and locked out of the house, car, shed, etc., and had to go hunting for everyone at bedtime more than once. Have even had to use one to locate another which they do very well. Your crew just showed you to pay attention to them.
