Breathing helps for headache, try this

Friends, our nose has a left and a right side; we use both to inhale and exhale. Actually they are different; you would be able to feel the difference. The right side represents the sun, left side represents the moon. During a headache, try to close your right nose and use your left nose to breathe. In about 5 minutes, your headache will go? Similarly if you feel tired, just reverse, close your left nose and breathe through your right nose. After a while, you will feel your mind is refreshed. Right side belongs to 'hot', so it gets heated up easily, left side belongs to 'cold'. Most females breathe with their left noses, so they get "cooled off" faster. Most of the guys breathe with their right noses, they get worked up. Do you notice the moment we wake up, which side breathes faster? Is that ‘Left or right’? , if left is faster, you will feel tired. So, close your left nose and use your right nose for breathing, you will get refreshed quickly. This can be taught to kids, but it is more effective when practiced by adults. A friend used to have bad headaches and was always visiting the doctor, there was this period when he suffered headache literally every night, unable to study. He took painkillers, did not work. He decided to try out the breathing therapy here: closed his right nose and breathed through his left nose. In less than a week, his headaches were gone; he continued the exercise for one month. This alternative natural therapy without medication is something that he has experienced. So, mylot friends, why not give it a try? Please respond and share your views on this Natural Therapy.. Thanks in advance. Professor ‘*Bhuwan*’. . Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

Thanks for sharing this interesting technique to overcome headache. I ever heard that deep breathing can relax our body. We need to focus on the area that we need healing and the pain will slowly disappeared. Sometimes, i had severe migraines and i prefer to relax my mind by closing my eyes while listening to soft music and relax for a few minutes. I prefer to stay away from taking too much medication. I think i will give your breathing technique a try in the near future.

It does not cost anything or hurt anything to try, so I may do it some, just to see. I certainly could use more energy. I know that breathing more deeply and relaxing sure can help.

It actually does. I have tried this before. If you catch your headache before it gets worse, just take a step back from whatever is is you are doing, concentrate on your breathing for a while, and your headache will start to go away. I had a final, and I started to feel a headache come on during my last final, and when I took a step back from the final and started to focus on my breathing for about a minute or two, I began to feel better. That is all that you have to do is just take a step back from whatever it is that you are doing when you feel the headache come on, relax, start to focus on your breathing, and you will begin to feel better.

Interesting. I knew that different breathing practices had many benefits, but I had never heard that breathing out of one nostril could help energize us or get rid of a headache. Next time I have either of these problems, I will try it. I don't take pain killers, so this will be great. Thanks.

Dear Professor, This is very interesting and I suppose you will have many holding their nostrils to see what effects it has. I currently have a slight headache and have taken pain medication and to no avail. So I will be trying to hold my right nostril and breath through the left to see if I too can get some relief. I do get headaches daily, and there is not a day I do not. I live on over the counter pain medication as to date no doctor has determined why I have been getting these bad headaches since I was 8 years old. So I will be willing to try and see if I too can get some relief. Thanks for the information.

Hi Professor2010, Wow, how interesting! I have never heard of anything like this before. I am very curious as to whether or not this actually works. I suppose I will have to try it and find out! ;) It would certainly be nice to avoid medications for things such as headaches, and try something more natural, yet just as effective, or even more effective than medication! My dad has really bad headaches quite often, almost everyday or every other day. I think I will suggest this to him. Medications do not seem to work for him. His doctor even prescribed him medication for his headaches, but they did not work either. Hopefully, this interesting and little-known method will work for him. :D

I am pleased that I came across your discussion Professor2010 because this is very interesting and useful information. I have read that correct breathing can help the body in different ways in fact I have a book which describes breathing exercises to combat stress. I’m going to try the ones you describe; I sure could use more energy and less headaches, thank you!

This is the first time that I've heard of something like this, but I can certainly tell you that it is something that I am going to remember in the future. I used to be a very lucky person that didn't have to deal with a lot of headaches, but as this year has gone on I've suffered from far more headaches than I used to have in the past. I will try this technique the next time that I have a headache to see if it is able to help me.
