I wish whoever has told newcomers here that all they need do to make a lot of money is to make a lot of discussions and just wait for all those lovely responses to roll in and you will make money. We all keep reminding everyone that if you type you will earn, and if we type responses to your many discussions we will earn., so now you all must come back and comment on our responses,or you will make just a few pennies. Also in my eyes its just common courtesy to people who took time to respond to your discussion to come back, read the responses then comment back to us to show you read them., And to keep your discussion alive and thriving. a discussion can gather momentum if we all come back and forth and add to it.Sure theres no law saying you can only make a few discussions but its a waste of time if you do not come back and make the discussion a real discussion of back and forth interplay.your take fellow mylotters. I think quality is better than too much quantity.

Hello Sweet Hatley! Having come back from Arkansas I have 1600 email alerts. I have slowly been going through my notifiers and noticed one particular member in the 2 1/2 weeks I was gone started 172 discussion. Oh my as I started to open an couple of the earlier ones I noticed absolutely no responses what so ever from the discussion starter. I wonder if the members got frustrated because they too slowly stopped responding. Though I am sure the discussion starter earned something for starting so many certainly a great deal of effort wasted for not responding to them. Sad because when this member started I guided appropriately and told the member that commenting was very necessary since the member was very concerned about earnings. I guess the member still did not believe me and has wasted a lot of efforts. I did not respond to the discussions because I noticed they were very straight forward questions which were already answered. I can't keep up with members of this sort and though I have done my most effort to help sometimes they just do not listen because they are earning a tiny, tiny bit for starting. Imagine if they actually listened. lol Since earning is a concern the member will not give up but since all the effort is being put forth in starting discussion at some point the member will feel like a great deal of effort for so little. I say that they get a tiny something because they are actually typing for starting them. So as I always so to those that they will earn next to nothing because having commented they would have earned a great deal for all the commenting/typing.

hi HWG oh my G 171 in so short a time. I did noticed this one Indian girl is really going to town making discussions but bless her heart she has commented back to every response so she is just one who is more comfortable making discussions than in responding, but I did notice she has responded to several of my discussions. I really do try not to make too many discussions that I do not have time to really comment back to them all., I can only do one in a day and maybe I will go for days just depends. just tonight I saw another one where she is telling others that the more responses you get on your discussions the more you make and she is another one who never returns,. I know they will get a few cents for just making them but to make a whole slew and let people respond and not ever come back thats a waste of time and energy too. Also I at least feel a bit irked if nobody ever acknowledges that I was even there. well must close as I have been doing this all day and I think my fingers are going to fall off.lo.

Sad to say, I have started deleting people from my list that only start discussions, especially when it is eight or ten or more a day. Usually they are not discussions, and I cannot relate to them, and they come across as being just a rehash of something they read on the internet. On the other hand I have seen some very good responses from some new people that gives me a lot of hope for good discussions coming up.

You are right, the discussions are supposed to have something to discuss. Other established members do remind us that this is not a question and answer site either. I suppose that some of us could discuss how awful the mail service is or how to appropriately discipline children who are little beasts. However, that is the step that needs to be taken, and not just "me too". It is okay to rant, if you want to, but yeah, do not let it upset you too much, you will end up with gray hair like me. Or in this case, flaming red hair, where the gray used to be.

Hey there, GardenGerty and Hatley! I've been on myLot for years, but this is really thought-provoking and helpful! It really is a good idea to have quality discussions as well as quality (active) friends here. It only helps us out that much more because it sets a good example to newer members, and it encourages us to be active on current discussions instead of just jumping in and starting new discussions all the time. I really think as far as earning goes, quality is better than quantity. I know we each get an extra number next to our sign-on name when we start and respond to discussions, but that can be kind of misleading where earnings are concerned. I admire you both as veteran myLotters, so to speak, because not only do you both have the numbers to prove it, but I know for a fact that you're both extremely active here! Thanks for the great examples. I certainly know what I'm going to be working on around here!

hi GardenGerty I have seen one young Indian lady who is really going to town making discussions and for awhile I thought she will not come back and comment but she does and they are great comments too and she is quite new here too. so there is hope always. I have enjoyed responding to her discussions as she is doing quite well. I have seen several new ones who once they got to copy are just doing that verbatim. they did not bother to reword the article so I doubt if he even read it. it was a great article but it was not the mylotters work at all. It disappeared so I assume it was deleted after being there a couple of days. I am starting to delete those who never ever come back and comment.I can understand that sometimes we get ill or have other problems but when it goes on for a long time I figure the person is not returning at all.so I might as well forget him or her and hit the delete button too. I hate to delete but it seems logical.

hi elicbxn and marie I am starting to think I may delete a few who never respond to my disucssions nor comment back when I try to make a good response to one of their twenty discussions they made all in one d ay. some never learn that the only way to really earn from their many discussions is to comment back and make the discussion come alive. why make them at all if they really do not want to discuss some issue? they do not get paid for all the responses they get so they should get tha out of their minds. you type you get paid I type a response to your discussin I get paid.

ive seen old members do that too. they start tons of discussion and never get back to you. then after a hile they will start whining that they did not reach the payout. i can not understand but i dont complain. i myself try to help newbies like they can not start a discussion with one line question only, still they do it. i teach newbie that you need to have quality post and atleast 4 to 5 lines for it to be an earning still they will not listen. i dont know if they just ignore or they dont comprehend. mylot is a great site, you truly earn here, but you will earn if you work hard. it is like any other work... you work hard you earn. hope this discussion of yours be another eye opener of mylot members who wanted to earn but does not like to get the part of hard working. have a great weekend hatley.. hugs

If you even can get people to try it both ways, on separate days, they can see for themselves how much more they earn. I wonder sometimes if they do not want to earn either, but just want a chance to talk a lot, and tell everyone about their lives. Some people are like that. I think we can have lots of fun here, and earn money, and we need to pay attention to the effective way of making cents and sense on MyLot.

reading both your comments made me remembered a scenario when i was advising a newbie. i was advising him to make his post a little longer, then explaining to him that you can earn more not just starting but responding and commenting as well. i also explained to him that putting pictures on the interest helps you earn and when he commented me back the member told me i am not here to earn. that was rude, but it did not stop me from helping new ones.

You know,I can see your point here. Fact is,most of us can't be on mylot all the time and in my case, if mylot doesn't send me YOUR response, I don't go look for it. It's a simple time factor for most of us. I love mylot. You have become one of my best friends,,,even on such a personal level that I send you other things... Now, I would love to discuss and respond, discuss and respond, but I can't always. Yes, quality is better than quantity. That is one of the reasons I try to answer fully. I do get a lot of "oks !", or, "thanks "..........now are these really discussions? Not on your life they are not but it's a penny or two , right? I still am not sure how mylot actually pays... I have friends I talk to on a daily basis in my regular email. I make nothing from those conversations, but trust and friendship. Now, IF and I mean, IF mylot sends your response to this one,TO ME, I will answer it as fully as I can. There are times when I don't get the responses back.........and I read a lot of members complaining on this as well as I do. Mylot must not be able to keep up......I think mylot is great and just last week when I had a bad mail, I was able to turn that person in and even got to talk to Alice for the first time. I am not against a full fledged conversation where all of us, adults, I would hope..., do talk out a matter and come to a conclusion that is best for all concerned. I truly care for you and if I don't answer your response, PLEASE consider the fact I did not get it thru mylot.... And, on a brighter note, you can always contact me on my regular email. Have a great night........I'm up only cuz I dropped my cell phone in my dog's water:( ...............dah????? I hope I haven't ruined it ......... But, it's plugged into a charger and it is working so far.... I luv ya and hope you will continue all you wonderful discussions and I actually get them.... hugs, quita

Hi Quita! Your schedule sounds a lot like mine! I usually try to log in once a day, but I don't always have a chance to spend a long time here, which is where quality comes in. I try to target good discussions (or responding/commenting to friends/users on discussions I've started). If I don't have time to do a lot, at least those who took the time to respond to my discussion won't go unrewarded or without comment from me.

hi jj4Ever thats wonderful that you do comment back like I do and feel you must do it. some just do not get the picture for some reason and some feel that our responses will pay them so they do not return to make their discussion come alive. now here with all my comments and responses this discussion is being discussed and I am having fun commenting back too.You have the right ideas and more power to you. I have a huge advantage as I am retired and live in this Gold Crest retirement center where I have lots of time but not lots of money lol so my earnings do help but most of all my friendships are what makes me come back daily here as I care about all mylot friends.I do understand about limited time as when I first started I was still working part time and mylotting part time. lol

I do hope your cell phone is not any the worse for its bath in the dogs water. lol. luv ya too thanks for the nice compliment. makes me feel happier. I quit at nine o clock as I have promised my fussy roomie to go to bed at ten although I would rather stay up til 11 myself. lol but we have to get up at 6 why ? we do have breakfast at 7 am though.Hugs from hatley

Hello Mrs Hatley, I agree with your point its always quality that matters in the end. It is the basic of this site that you earn for you type and i earn for i type. There are many people who starts discussion and sit back to see the responses but they forget that they don't earn for it they earn when they comment back for those responses. I know the fact that it takes lot of time to comment back so i don't start much of the discussions rather like to respond to other's discussions. This happens as it happens with me too that we start discussion and stuck sometime in some offline work and could not continue the discussion at that time but i never forget to comment back as it can be delayed.

hi sjvg I am with you in not starting too many discussions as I like to have some time to comment back and like everyone else sometimes off line life gets in the way and I cannot comment back. I spent 20 days in rehab hospital wishing I were back here typing instead of hurting and having physical therapy all because someone spilled water on the tiled floor in the halls here. I came along, slipped and landed face down. well that all water under the bridge now an am back and trying hard to get caught up.I will be late I know but it can be delayed and most all know I will finsh my commenting.

Thank you very much for the information. You have reminded us of how to participate on mylot. Hopefully new users to mylot would realise this soon and make life easier for other members.

hi 2wicelot you are so welcome. I did hope that this would some how motivate newcomers and old to really comment back on their discussions as thats what makes it a discussion. we go back' and forth and the more we comment the more we earn plus I think 'its so much fun to see my discussion take off and receive a lot of comments on comments. It makes it enjoyable when others chime in and give their own two cents worth. Yes its so wonderful when we get comments from the author on our responses. this always makes me feel the person read my response and appreciated it. I do not mind if some say I don't agree as I see it a different way. that means I have received some new ideas and might even learn from them too.

They are probably a newer layer of idiots that didn't read the FAQs. I think quantity is where its at too, Hatley. I think we should have about 10,000 people on here and they all know what they are do and discuss back and forth and post ofcourse. We could reach payout each month.

hi celticeagle Oh I am sure they are but who is feeding them such misleading information?. some claim they were told that the more responses they got the more they would earn.I am saying publicly that no the responses are our work and so we are the ones who get paid. so please comment back if you wish to earn anything making discussions. for one thing when they never return they just make a few pennies. now they quit and scream that mylot is a scam. now this gets out and a lot of people will not try mylot. this is sort of sad as it is all falsehoods.Yes if we had that many actually really mylotting and not breaking any rules we would all reach payout each month.that would be really great.

That's very nice reminder, my friend. Indeed, those who are active and like to comment back on the responses that they get always earn the best, too. Since now i have more time to be in Mylot, i have even started to comment back to some of my very old discussions, 3 years ago. I just hope the person who will receive my "BR" will still be active in here. After all, i like members who are active giving responses rather then active making many discussions without giving any comment. In fact, i had been giving responses to a few members discussions, who seems no interest to give comment back at all...

hi myfb2009 thanks I was hoping to sort of get through that commenting back on the responses to your discussion was the best way to really make great earnings. I still have some I have yet to catch up with too. And several old ones that some one has recently responded to so I must return the compliment too. I have responded to about three of this one person's discussions and a month had gone by and no comment back. so many say delete them but I hate to do this if the person might have really become ill or something like that that's kept them from commenting back.I am trying to not make too many discussions so I have time to respond back as so many times any more I get a lot of responses so try to keep up with a few each day rather then have fifty to try to respond to in one day. lol lol.

When I read a discussion, I then read what other people wrote before me if any. I rate them as I read not only the person starting the discussion but all the people that replied. I am really not here for the money I just enjoy reading and seeing what others wrote. I then reply with my answers of what I think. I have a husband that gets up at 4:00am even weekends. he will fall asleep in his recliner by 9:00 am. He wakes to get his lunch, comes back to his recliner and falls asleep. I get u p and make dinner he wakes up and watches some tv before dinner. We have dinner he watches the politcal channel and is in bed by 8pm. I however get up later because of medications I am on but once I am up I am up til I go back to bed to sleep which is usually around 11pm to 1AM. So trust me I value mylot to discuss and respond to. He is absolutely NO COMPANY to me. I do everything by myself. He however expects everything to be done and has admitted he is a extremely lazy person. so discussions and responses are my interaction with others unless I just go sit out at the bay, or just go window browsing.

Thabk you Ms. Hatley for bringing this up. There is a particular lotter that I know who starts up multiple discussions and never, even once, had replied back. It has now been annoying every time I see him/her start another topic. Sometimes this lotter would start a new topic so I would like to respond. Yet once more s/he wouldn't comment back. I hope s/he realizes that earning in this site requires us to discuss rather than just start a discussion. Pardon for my rumbling. It just seems like the perfect topic to air this out.hahaha!

hi visavis you are really moving along now with over two thousand some points. I am great this morning. I hope this inspire people to really comment back as opening a discussion means tending to it by commenting back.I mean on would not plant a garden then not come back and water it and weed it and pick the veggies when they are ripe.Participating means coming back to your discussions and commenting back to all the discussions so it becomes a real 'discussion. then people will come back and respond again until it is really a blooming discussion. i

hi changjiangzhibin like diana says this is a discussion site and if you comment back then I comment on your comment, then say diana comes along and comments on my comment and on other comments in the discussion it comes alive and you start to see that its fun to see something you created take on a life and become a real discussion with everybody giving and taking .I do agree etiquette does demand a comment back. I always feel when I do not get a comment on my response the discussion maker did not even read my response or else felt it was just trash. like Diana says all our commenting makes our earnings really rise.

Woohoo! Hatley, my dear, you just made it so EASY for newbies to understand how MyLot works! Now everybody will be out there (I hope!) responding to each others discussions, instead of starting numerous meaningless subjects. Perhaps we'll start to see discussions like we used to have here back in 2006 and 2007, really intelligent, thought-provoking discussions. Lately, there hasn't been much that grabs me--perhaps I'm burned out on discussions that ask nothing more than a yes or no answer, rather than a "yes or no, and why did you choose that?"-type discussions. Makes life MUCH more interesting when you have to USE your brain!

Well Hatley, from what I'm reading so far, you have a very lively and engaging discussion going on here! Your professor is so correct--too many people speak without thinking. And in my case, my brain is either running at hyperspeed (something I'm used too) or having a brain fart (something that's becoming more common with the progression of my multiple sclerosis). People really need to learn to engage their brain and put more though into not just discussions, but their entire lives! Too often people don't want to engage in a live conversation--they'd rather spend too much time in front of a video game, television or computer. Rather than "video killed the radio star", technology killed the conversation!

okay one more time something scorpoiobabes just wiped out what I wrote. grrr. I was thinking about this professor in my college English class who said" before starting this paper,I have just one suggestion, please engage your brains." we all laughed but still when we engage our brain and make a really interesting discussion, then come back and again engage brain to make comments on the discussions we earn quite well and can be proud to have made quality posts. I do hope this discussion does just that, help others to really understand about making discussions and commenting back on them. Its more fun when its interesting and makes us want to respond to it, then the discussion maker comments then we comment and it becomes a living discussion.

I totally agree! I get so tired of the ones that post tons of "discussions" we respond to them and no one or just a couple of people get a counter response. This does not a discussion make people! Hatley you are absolutely right the person posting the discussion does not get money for our responses. However they get more for good threads which means they must enter act with counter responses to ours. I understand that they wish to make as much money as they can, really I do. The thing is they can not make money doing it the way they are like you said. If they do not interact with the ones that post on their discussions then no one gets to know them and they don't have as many people that will just post a responses because they know and like them. They will just have the responses they get, not many and people get tired of not getting a reply when we take the time to give them a good response and they do not acknowledge us at all.

moondancer right exactly but why why why dont people heed it and why make a discussion if you do not want to discuss your issue? that makes no sense and is a waste of their time and of ours by again maybe by commenting on the various responses ouresevlves we could show the discussion maker what he or she is missing?

hi moondancer I was just thinking its almost like if someone decided to give me a birthday party and went to a lot of trouble to organize it then I just decide I do not really want to go to that party and meet all my friends. so I am really rude. thats what I feel when I take time to write what I think is a great 'response and the discussion maker never returns to comment on my response or anyone else s.Sometimes I wonder if they just read them and leave thinking they are getting paid when they are not. what really irks me is that these people really wan to make money as we all do but instead get peanuts. so they leave and spread the word that they feel mylot is a scam. "we don't get paid, its a scam people do not go to mylot" well they reap what they sow. if they do not finish making their discussion into a real discussion they lose out and blame mylot for their own stupidity, common sense should tell anyone you do not earn from some one else's work. you type you earn, I type I earn a simple equation.

I agree Hatley, it's courtesy to respond. I have a friend who never responds to my comments. I think I'll stop bothering.

hi GreenMoo yes you would think just out of common courtesy that the discussion maker reads and comments back.I am so fed up at times with some who I see are responding daily and yet did not bother to comment on my response or on anyone else's responses. I could understand if the person was ill and was not able to be on the net but this person was active in other places on mylot. I feel like deleting that person too.I mean why bother to make a discussion if you do not want to talk back and forth over your' own issue?

hi greeenmoo I hate it when I see over and over some comments given to a few responses and not to the others, that's a rotten thing to do as it says these people are special, your stuff stinks even if that's not what they meant, its still rude and unnecessary . I enjoy commenting back as I value all input from all my lotters. I have had times when I did get behind like the 20 days I spent in rehab hospital but I did get back and am still workimg at it too.

I've no idea if we are talking about the same person or not, but I guess there are many myLot users the same. I enjoy reading the responses to my own discussions, and responding to them is really not hard work. Yes, there are times when I can't respond because 'real life' prevents me from being on the computer as much as I'd like, but I do try and respond at some stage. Picking and choosing who you respond to is very, very rude to those who you ignore.

hi humbug someone has been telling some newcomers that they get paid for allt the responses they get so they just make a whole slew withut thinking on typing out comments as thats work. so they sit back and then see they only got a very small earnings for all those discussions. we keep showing the slogan you type you get paid, I type I get paid.then these unhappy newbies cry in another discussion I made 25 discussions and only made0.06 cents. mylot is a scam And never once did it dawn on them to read the guidelines and rules of discussions so they would knou how mylot works.Maybe this will get the message out hopefully.

hi humbug yes I even saw a discussion saying do we get real money when our discussions get a lot of responses. I did answer only if you went back and commented on the responses in all the discussions you made. I still think someone around here keeps telling myloters that all they need to do to make big earnings is to make a lot of discussions then just want to get paid for the responses. well thats still a lie. you type you get paid. I type i get paid really well if I am commenting like I am now.

Well I hope they get the message but they don't appear to have as yet haha. I am sure it would be a newbie telling the other newbies cos none of the mylot veterans would do such a thing surely! If I found anyone saying such things about mylot then I would report them!!

thanks so much 'Diana and welcome Dallas 2011 always listen t o our Diana as she knows mylot backwards and forwards even better then I do. Like she said participate and you will see some nice earnings and do not do like I did when I first came. oh my I had to make x posts and I got so tired as I was not earning much and not having fun til I read one of Diana's posts and I started to just post and read and reach out and respond to others so I had a whole lot of new friends, I had gave up on how many posts I made as I was really having fun. I would comment on my responses to my discussion and others would comment back on my comments then others commented on all of the different comments til my discussion was really alive and it was so much fun I really enjoyed myself and I was thrilled when I sa I had made three times more than i made just doggedly sitting there responding and counting all I did. Have fun and enjoy yourself and the money will come too.

hi dallas you are so welcome and if this discussion has helped some I am really glad as I was hoping it would dispel the idea that the discussion maker got paid for all the responses he or she gets as its so very false. we typed them so we get paid, you type comments back then you get paid well for your comme
