I would have tile in the "wet areas" kitchen, bath and laundry, and then hardwood throughout the rest of the house. Not going to happen, no money, house is very old, but that is what I would like.

They were thinking to cover it up cheaply. Maybe when your husband gets his new job it can be something you save up for.

The people who lived here before us put carpet in the upstairs bathroom, not the master but the bathroom the kids use. I don't know what they were thinking. We have been saying we were going to tear it out and put tile in there since we moved here 15 years ago. We still have not. The kids shower in our bathroom because we don't want them to accidentally get the carpeting wet in their bathroom. The toilet overflowed one time and we had to replace the ceiling below that bathroom, what a mess.

No, I am not happy with our flooring. We have carpeting throughout the house except for the kitchen and bathrooms. The carpet is a pretty color and it would be alright to keep if the previous tenants had not had inside dogs that they let destroy the place. The pee smell is trapped in the carpet and the padding under it. The realty office had a professional crew come out and steam clean it and that did help it but I can still smell it. Whatever improvements we make on the house the owners will take that off of the rent payment. We are thinking about putting down wood flooring in the main living room. I want tile in the kitchen and then I would possibly put new vinyl in the bathrooms too.

If you did all that then the owners might decide to raise the rent because the house is now in much better shape ...... of course they really shouldn't do that to you if you're the ones making the renovations.

Most of my home is floored with floating floor boards. I really like them. they are quite darkish brown, with streaks. they are very easy to clean.
My kitchen and dining room is made of slate, which is quite attractive with amulti coloured stone.
My bathroon is tiled, gren and white with a touch of maroon..
the lounge room is covered with carpet, a kind of fawny/ greeny colour. Im not that happy with it. I only bought htis house 5 weeks ago, and the carpet could do with agood clean.

I hope you have been able to remove that carpet, it's so much nicer to put in hardwood.

I am happy with our main floor flooring, it is all hardwood which is nice. Our carpeting upstairs however has much to be desired. After 3 kids 2 dogs and a cat the carpet has taken its share of abuse over the last 15 years, plus what ever abuse the people who lived here before us did to it. Actually considering it's age it is not too bad, except for my middle child's room, he has some pretty questionable stains in there.

I think carpets are a pain in the butt. To me a hardwood floor would be so much better and throw rugs can always be added if needed.

I prefer hardwood floors (with some rugs). However, when renting, one really doesn't have much choice regarding flooring.
If I were building from the ground-up, I would probably choose to have pine floors. Why pine? While many people aren't fond of pine flooring, I love how it develops character over time. It would be perfect in a little cabin, such as I would love to have.

I always thought pine would be way too soft to be a good floor base.

I have been quite happy with the flooring in my house, very nice colorful carpet flooring except in the kitchen area. Yes, thank you for reminding. It is about time to change. I have been thinking to change to hardwood flooring this time. Haven't quite decided yet.

We made the switch to hardwood on the lower level about 5 years ago. My dog was getting really old and having trouble holding her bladder all night. The carpet had to go. The hard wood is nice it needs swept a lot but if you spill something it is a lot easier to clean up then carpeting.

I am not happy with my current flooring at all. I hate it all! We are going to replace our carpet and kitchen floor as soon as we can afford it. They are both pretty trashed. We have really blue carpeting and I'm super tired of it, too. Our kitchen flooring is coming up around the doors. It looks really bad. We are hoping to move in about two years, so we are going to put the cheapest thing we can get in. We just want it to look nice enough to sell. We'll probably put new carpet in and in the kitchen, we'll put some kind of tile.

I am happy with our current flooring. It is marbled and it is very easy to clean. the second and third floors are carpeted and it lessens out the mapping and sweeping. I am very happy we had the other two floors carpeted though because my husband and I love sitting on the floor. The marbled tiles are perfect too, I love them when they shine like mirror.
