I Should Be Getting Wrinkles At My Age...Not SPOTS!

Oh, how I long for wrinkles! Seriously, I do! For years and bloody years I have had to put up with pesky spots on my face that drive me round the bend. I am now 45 and there's no let up. The last few years I haven't treated them with anything but I have noticed, since my Mirena Coil fitting last year, the spots have increased, as it does with most contraception (ha! ME on contraception, what a laugh lol). My hair is thinning out too. I guess I'm lucky in that I'm taking after my Great Aunty Jane who died, aged 99 without a grey hair on her head (I have the odd one, not many) but I've since figured out why most Pensioners have the same, short hair-do..it's due to the fact they can't grow it anymore. I can still grow mine but it's thinner than, say, when I got married in 2008 but it's not coming out in huge handfuls or anything, so I should be thankful, I suppose. One day I will wake up with a faceful of wrinkles instead of spots and I'll be sooo happy when that day comes!

Wow, I've never heard of hair getting thicker as you get older. Mine tends to thin out now if I grow it too long so I don't let it grow past my shoulders. I've no idea what to do for thickening hair though.

you can try biotin suppliments if you can find them-they strengthen hair, and can probably stop loss.i had an unbelieveable change in hair texture after taking them, much less breakage.

Mum has problems with her thinning skin (especially on her legs) as she's getting older. If she ever bangs her leg accidentally it takes an absolute age to heal..and it doesn't help when the doc won't prescribe a nice, big plaster like those you get in hospital. He says "it's not necessary." In the meantime, she keeps banging it, not making it any better.

Have you had your thyroid checked recently? That makes your hair fall out. I am close to sixty and still get spots, or pimples. I have found that I can use baking soda to wash my face and they tend to get a lot better or go away.

Well, last year I was told I was "borderline" with an under-active thyroid, therefore I wasn't given any treatment for it. Since then my weight has actually gone down a bit and my anaemia has gone away too. Having said that, though, I haven't even been to the doctors this year and no-one wants to contact me for a check-up either, such is their incompetence. You get the feeling I don't like going there?

Oh, I have no job and no money to see doctors, so I do not. I think it is great that you are no longer anemic and that you are losing weight. You made some really great dietary changes.

They say frowns make the wrinkles appear, so apparently, you've been smiling all the time to keep the wrinkles at bay. I do hope that you don't have to be sad and to frown. I think that's better than wishing for the wrinkles to come soon.

45 is not old at all. Now, if you do have a thyroid condition, you should see an endocrinologist, because they specialize in thyroid and diabetes. That doctor might give you some medication for it. A regular doctor might not bother. My ex has a thyroid problem, hers was overactive. She recently had it removed due to thyroid cancer. It was at the beginning stages. Its all gone now and she's fine. Everyone will eventually get wrinkles, that comes with age. But, your thinning hair, spots and even dry skin are all results of thyroid condition. Do go rushing your life with wrinkles. You're young, stay that way. Just go to an endocrinologist and have your thyroid correctly checked. Also, get tested for diabetes, that can also have some of the same effects. Remember, they are hormone conditions. Take care of yourself.

I'm tired a lot as well. I was treated for anaemia with very strong iron tablets last year but the tiredness remains. Thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated and don't worry, I'll hold on to my spots for a little while longer.

Just keep telling yourself you must be an adult because you have adult acne... (At least that's what I told myself when I started breaking out in my 30s.)

Spots are your bodies way of saying to you that you are still a teen at heart!

As we get older our bodies go through so many changes where as spots and lines are visible. I wonder if a trip to the dermatologist might help and or there are some creams that can help as well. I am not sure as I don't have any but will get to you when the first sign of my wrinkles come out so we can compare. Hey got to give me credit for saying that we will be interacting here for a very long time as the signs of wrinkles are no where near.

I am in my late twenties but I have got wrinkles around eyes when I'm smiling, for several years. I was annoyed about this and friends suggest me not smile too often. But how? I love smiling and sometimes couldn't control myself. Anyway, I won't see the wrinkles when I'm smiling.

These are called "Laughter Lines" over here. I much prefer that description than "wrinkles." In actual fact, you can always tell when someone has had botox treatment as the laughter lines are no longer there. To me, they are natural and should be celebrated as I quite like them. I like what you say there..."I won't see the wrinkles when I'm smiling" and neither will I, nor any others I'm pleased to say, as I don't make a point of looking in mirrors, only when I'm applying make-up.

Maybe, the spots stem from Seborrheic dermatitis .To a certain age, hormone is imbalanced, the Oil inside our bodies will be hyper secretion which makes skin and hair shining and hair fall off. At this point,if Pityrosporum round infects your skin ,the spots then come out which are pruritic and follicular papulopustular ,for reference only.

Why exactly you are longing for wrinkles? And what kind of? Some of us have in a very early age, others don't have them at all, same with spots. It's not spots or wrinkles, some people have both. The only thing I will be happy about is if I have no eczema, esp. in my face including all the infections. I hope you will like yourself the way you are with or without spots/wrinkles

I wasn't being serious about this as my friends on here have "figured me out" lol. It's just that it would be nice for me to get up one morning and not have any..but that's not to say I'm vain about it, or anything..just a bit fed up!

Well everyone will have some kind of vex on similar experience as you suffer.I think those spots express your young age time and if the wrinkle appear it means you are old now.
