Many people today decide to buy a laptop when they want a new computer. I personally prefer desktops because I do not need to be portable with my computer and desktops are easier to upgrade. Other than the portability, what is the advantage of a laptop?

In the past I always had a desktop, but when my last desktop broke down I decided to buy a laptop instead of a new desktop. I liked my desktop, but I am verty happy that I chose to buy a laptop. because it gives me a lot more freedom. I have a wireless internet connection and I am able to use my laptop anywhere that I choose. I can use it in any room in my house or in the garden and I can bring my laptop and my internet connection when I am going on vacation. Another advantage about my laptop is fact that is doesn't take up much space in the living room. When I am having company and need more space in the house I can put my laptop away in a closet, I wouldn't have able to do the same thing with my desktop.

I am just like you, I prefer desktops more than laptops. I don't see any other advantages of laptops, and anyhow, I prefer not to have a computer with me when I am away. When I am away, I like not to have any distraction element, besides my cell phone. There are also times when I hate that I have my cell phone with me. So I will not buy a laptop, unless I will have to, because of my job.

They're far less bulky than a pc, and they can be unplugged and still work as they run on battery power.
I haven't used a pc in many years now, and prefer my laptop.
When I go away in the next couple of weeks, at least I'll be able to get online, and wont need to worry about not having my laptop with me.

laptop is one such thing which changed the usage of the computers. you can carry the laptops where ever you want and it is more comfortable for usage. that's why people use laptops.

I have always had a desktop computer. I want a laptop too though so I can be able to use it anywhere I want to.

I prefer to have a laptop rather than a desktop. Since a desktop will spend more electricity and it needs a bigger room. Whereas the laptop is much more convenient and I can use it anywhere at my home. And laptop works as well as the desktop. So I don't want to have something which is bigger and heavier.
I love China

Hi Joseph, in my home, i have both computer and laptop. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Computer is more faster in loading when we want to see pictures and learning new programs. But, we are unable to bring it around when we are traveling. Where else, laptop is portable, able to bring around and use while we are traveling. Besides that, it uses battery that we don't have to connect into socket for a few hours, while we are using it. I am happy that i still can online for a few hours although i am on vacation recently. Thanks to my laptop.

the only advantage based on experience using a laptop and a desktop is:
using a laptop you can lay down in bed when feeling strain and pain on the back of head and in standing position too, and bring to another place if feeling bored or sleepy...
the only disadvantage when using a laptop is not so powerful if games and desktop publishing is concern....
