Chocolate Chip cookies - nom nom nom :(
South Korea
December 2, 2011 7:04am CST
I have these absolutely tempting chocolate chip cookies in front of me. I have been watching over my weight so I decided no matter how hard I want them, I am not eating them and actually it's 10pm right now. So my question is, is it good to not give into your cravings?? Any side effects or after effects?? Thanks xx

HI sis!! OUch...I know how you feel..I have done with this craving things. Now I just eat whatever food I want. But there is a condition I made for myself, I just need to take it moderation. Like when I am eating the food I like, its whether I divide it in a few portions or I eat it with my other siblings so I don't finish them all by myself in one shot.(^^) I suggest you don't take it seriously mean it is okay for you to have some of them. Believe me such diet-cravings will only make you want to eat it more and more and once you have them you will want to eat more than you should so what point to suffer? Just eat a few pieces and hold it for a few days. We can eat anything actually in our diet just need to know how much we should consume them.(^^)

You are welcome!!! Today I let myself to have a few pieces of chocolates. If I do the diet things I am sure I will close my eyes and let go the chocolate but the next day I will finish the whole box of it. So I have a few of them today so next day the craving will get at least less compared to if I don't eat it at all. Between diet and exercise I will choose exercise. With exercise at least I could eat anything I want without having to starve and crave for it.(^^)

I think you are absolutely right. Exercising is a lot better than dieting. I do exercise but it's nothing extreme. It hurts to be honest LOl and because it hurts, i feel like giving up. But I am glad I do a little exercise everyday. I think it is better than not doing any at all :))

Yes this was exactly what I wanted to know. Like if I refrain myself now, I might go mad the next time I see them and might eat more than I actually should :P Thanks and I'll keep it in mind. eating moderate amount won't hurt me :)

It's usually okay to give in to your cravings. The key is not to have to many. It is okay to have a cookie or two, just don't eat the whole bag. If you never give in to your cravings, they won't go away and you will feel deprived. It is better to give in to them so you won't feel like you are on a diet.

It depends on what your cravings are, if its running stoplights, then I would say NO! to your craving. If its a cookie just go ahead and have one, if you deny yourself what you like then you won't have any desires left to fill. Eat the cookie, it won't kill you but do pace yourself. Everything in moderation, even moderation.

I´m addicted to chocolate so I never buy any. I know myself and I´m sure that once the chocolate bars are open I will eat them all. So, why have them at my house? When someone gives me chocolates, I wait until the one who has given them is gone and eat them all. I feel that, by doing that, I have come to a truce with my addiction so I don´t feel guilty if they are a gift.

I could not let chocolates be in my house and not eat them. That´s why I don´t buy them even if there´s a sale. Now I can´t eat that for a while, but I sill crave them.

Yah I guess it would have been a lot easier if I didn't have them in my house in the first place but i dunno why I just go and buy them And worst, they are in some sale this winter and I can't help but buy them hehe!

I can only think of its good effect. One is that by not eating the chocolate chip, you give yourself a break from eating a food with sugar and fat. Plus, you don't need to go and brush your teeth. And by doing so,the next time you see yummy foods in front of you.. you can then easily control your cravings and just ignore the food. Well, maybe the bad effect is that you go to sleep without satisfying yourself from eating your chocolate chip.

Hey thanks. This does make a lot of sense. But what I was afraid of is that maybe the next time I eat chocolate chip cookie, I might go crazy mad and gobble up too much, no?

Well then maybe you can send some packs here so you won't have to crave more of what's still in your fridge. I'd be happy to eat some of that. When everything's finish, don't ever buy one again.

Do not eat the cookies. They are made to make us fat so we buy new cloths more often the more we eat the more we buy it's a big conspiracy and the alies are behind it they gave us the first recepy for cookies so they can controll us :D. But srsly if you'r watching your weight show more willpower and don't eat them. Like i said cookies are evil.

Hello Miss.. It is not always good... Out of 10 times fall for it only twice ;-)... All of us have cravings for things. But it ain't wise to fall... I've fallen to my cravings 90% of times and hence I've faced a lot of bad times too... Take care Miss...

my wife sleeps it off when she is tempted with something and it is late already to eat. but in the morning i know that she will give in with that craving. she said it is easy to eat something like that in the morning for she can still burn that, than eating it at night. so i guess that is the intelligent way to do with those cravings. better hold that feeling and sleep then you can still recall it when you wake up in the morning. goodluck

Yes, it is good not give into your craving, but it take plenty of self control to be able to do that. No, there is no side effect except that you are depraving your stomach to have any more chocolate chip cookies before bedtime, it may get a bit of annoyed, that is about it in term of side effect. OXOXOX.

Hmm if those cookies were in front of me. I could have devoured it right then and there and you wouldn't know it was there. Do i give in yes? Yes i honestly give in..most of the time to chocolates and cookies and ice creams and cakes..those are my comfort foods and i love those..so what are the consequences? well a few pounds higher.. but i am someone who can shrug it off and get on..dance a little..move a little..play some sports

Wow I relly wish I could do the same but I can't! I gain weight real easily but when it comes to losing it again, it'll take forever I envy people who don't gain weight even if they eat whatever they wish for :( lol

Hi thatgirl13, It is definitely better especially when it is 10pm at night. First you will be able to maintain your body shape since eating cookies at night before sleep will give you extra calories and it will store and transform into fat in your body, and you will not get bad tooth, if you did not brush your teeth after that.

Not giving into cravings is a good way of training yourself to have self-control, one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit called temperance as indicated in Galatians 5:22-23. In your case, as you restrain yourself, it promises good health benefit as long as you stand firm in your resolve. Good luck then!

Well, it is hard especially this time of yr to not give into your cravings and be good. One of my downfalls is Chocolate. I really Love chocolate and this is one of the main things I am always craving as well. I do try to find ways to not have it as often as I want. Just need to make sure when you are really craving or wanting something to usually eat just a small bit of it so the next time you want to splurge you don't end up eating too much.

I think it is good to give into your cravings because if you don't, you will eat alot of other stuff, trying to get the flavor you are really wanting. I think it is fine if you do not eat a whole lot of it.

When something is right in front of me I find it hard to resist. Once I see something I really want though even if I do resist it I can't stop thinking about it and eventually I will have it. Not that this is a good thing. I recently lost 27 pounds and I found that if I really wanted something I would go ahead and take two bites. Eat them slowly and really savor them. Then I was usually satisfied and finished. You just have to make sure to really eat them slow and really enjoy the flavors in your mouth. If you eat those two bites quickly you will just find yourself wanting and eating more.

Hey thanks a lot for the response and savouring the food sounds like a good idea. I have the tendency of gobbling up, guess I need to stop that.

I don't have many cravings, but the cravings I do have can get pretty serious, and dangerous. The cravings usually come after I have been lifting heavy, or working really hard, something that has taken a lot of strength and energy to do. But for some reason, I crave milk. I haven't figured out why, but after heavy lifting, I want milk. Usually I give in, and drink it, only to find out it makes me feel so much better, and I sleep well. I'm not going to lie, I like milk, and I already drink a lot of it, far more than an normal person. But my cravings are not good for other peoples health, because I can get aggressive, hostile, a little violent, and I growl like a dog. Being a big monster of a weightlifter only makes things worse. I tried a few times to substitute the milk craving for water, and while I found out I needed the water as well, but it does nothing to stop those cravings. Think of it as a baby wanting their baby bottle, except the baby is a musclebound gorilla. People have attributed my aggressive behavior to steroids, but I don't take those. My appetite is bigger than most people, and while I do a good job of not craving food, it is this milk craving that makes people scared of me. Don't let the stockpile run low, if you know what's good for you.

Do you like pets? For example, you can buy to keep the dog only when you want to eat chocolate chip cookies, the weight has been added to your fear, you put the cookies that give you that cute dog eat.I usually, are doing, often with my small dog to share my delicious food,of course, there are chocolate chip cookies,Now it is to eat fat, very cute.If you do not want to gain weight, you can still eat chocolate chip cookies, but pay attention to rest, and often do outdoor sports, physical exercise,I believe your body will be very beautiful.I wish you a Happy New Year,2012,the body getting better!Stunner!
