I have whitened my teeth a few times over the years. I have never had it professionally done but have used the home methods. I had pretty good results with the strips. I tried using a gel at home whitening system and it was so gross. You were suppossed to leave it in you mouth for about a half hour, the gel started leaking out of the holder and getting in my mouth I had to take everything out after about 10 minutes because I was about to start barfing from the it getting in my mouth. Have you ever had your teeth whitened either professionally or tried to do it at home? Share your experience.

I'd love to have it done professionally. I tried it once with strips from the store, but I bought the generic kind because they were all so expensive. The generic kind didn't work well. So what kind of strips did you buy? By the way, on the list of giveaways for womansday.com, one of the giveaways is to have your teeth professionally whitened using the zoom method. It's worth 500 dollars. I'm entering because I'd like to have mine done. You should look into it unless you already know about it.

Thanks I will check in to it. I used the Crest White Strips they were the ones that worked really well for me, but I had a $15 off coupon back then. If I could get another coupon like that I would buy them again. The generic one that almost made me puke was Meijer brand. I will look in to that Woman's Day contest. My teeth are not too bad but my eye teeth are a little more yellow then the rest of my teeth and that kind of bothers me.

I have used baking soda and peroxide to brush my teeth when we didn't have toothpaste when I was little. My teeth will never be white due to me taking iron supplements when I was little, so I really don't try. I know every Dentist I have asked said to not use any of the products because they are so abrasive and once you stop using them the stains come right back.

If I had the money I'd do it in the dentist's office. I don't think I'll be able to do any whitening realistically. But they say eating apples help whiten your teeth as well as adding lemon juice to your water.

I've never used anything to whiten my teeth because I was always afraid it would damage the enamel. After reading your experience, I never will! I can't afford the professional whitening, so that's out, too.

The strips are not that bad to use, but the gel is disgusting.

I have not done either. I found that I do like the Pepsodent with baking soda and peroxide, if they still make it. That is the problem with stocking up, you do not know what is current. I also will use peroxide to dampen my brush and brush with baking soda. I think that if you get them really white you maintain it with a good tooth paste.

I have done the peroxide thing before too. I have also brushed with baking soda before which was something my mom did when she was younger to whiten her teeth. My grandmother told me she used to brush with baking soda all the time because when she was a young girl they could not afford toothpaste.

I had a free sample of those whitening strips once. I tried using them but I didn't like it. I've never done it professionally. I do use whitening toothpaste. I don't really think it works all that well though. I think if I ever have money to spare, I would get it done professionally. I think that is the only way to get great results.

I could not ever whitened my teeth as it has pale color from childhood. I visited to the doctor for this problem but she said not to apply any kind of treatment on my teeth as she said that it will weak if any chemical will apply on them to make whitened. After that i never tried anything to make whitened my teeth and never visited doctor for it. Ritika

How long ago was that? They have made a lot of advancements in recent days. You could ask next time you visit your dentist, there may be things that are safe for you to use now.

So far the only method i ahve used is using salt as toothpaste. I would like to try the professional method but well thats when i can afford. On the other hand even my teeth is not that white like shining white i have a very healthy and strong teeth. The secret perhaps is when i was young i always eat guava and that is really effective for stronger teeth.

That is what happened to me that was so gross. I would like to have it done professionally some day too. My teeth are not that bad, but as I am getting older they are losing their luster.

Yep. I've tried the Crest Whitestrips, those didn't work for me. They did have another kind from Crest, I think, where you painted the junk on your teeth before you went to sleep. I couldn't stand the stuff on my teeth, but it worked really well for my husband. I finally went to the dentist and got some trays especially for my teeth and prescription strength gel that goes in the trays. This works wonderfully and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to brighten their smile. :o)

I'm interested in this subject. I wanted to whiten my teeth professionally but I'm afraid of destroying my teeth. Whitening tooth paste and brushing with baking soda are only temporary solutions. I want a natural way of whitening the teeth if possible. I don't trust professional whitening because I believe dentists want to sell their services no matter the risks for the patient.

hi, my teeth is yellowish color and they said that having this color of teeth are those who are more stronger rather to other teeth, and they said that baking soda is one of the good whitener of our teeth but now there are toothpaste who have this power to whiten our teeth in just two weeks.
