Sounds lethal doesnt it? No, its not. For the past 2 weeks my poor pc has been humming very loudly when trying to load things. Last week I told my son I need you to blow out the pc again. its laboring. Anyway, he did it before and it helps. you buy this stuff in a can and have someone that knows what they are doing, like son, and they take the pc apart and blow all the dust out of it. with the can of pc cleaner. My little baby here, is running as quite as a mouse now. cant hear a thing from his motor. did you know about this?

All those poor, displaced dust mites. Where have they moved to? Just giving you something to think about as you're going to sleep tonight.

I've done that, too. When I took computer classes they always told us to try that first if our computers are noisy. When I was married I used my husband's air compressor but since I don't have one now I use the canned air, which is quite expensive in my opinion.

My techy friend is always fixing computers at his home and sometimes when he takes the back off it is amazing how much dust there is in there, I try to clean thegrill thing at that back at times and that is always covered in dust, we must keep our computers clean.

Is it a desktop? I had to do that when I had a desktop. I have never had an issue with our laptops.

I've been doing this over the years. My computer fan has been running more lately. But I used the last of my can of air and haven't been to get another one. Haven't been able to go shopping. I'll need to make a trip soon to get some other needed items other than groceries so will probaly get a can at WalMart next week.

Yes, I know about that. I should look into that, but I would not want to take my Mac apart and clean it like that. I do not want to break my baby.

No, it's a desk top, but you know the iMacs, the flat screens. I do not want to damage it.

They're not that hard to take apart, I just don't want to ruin the machine. I would rather the store open it and fix it if need be.

Yeah, I have had to do this as well a few times..it really saves strain on your computer and your nerves..lol..I hated the humming buzzing noises mine made... you can also use a straw...and a very soft cloth and soft bristled tooth brush for babies..works great..

I don't know about the fans on your computer but mine were really dirty. We live up a holler/hollow where dirt is abundant..lol So things tend to get dusty easy and when fans in the window pulls it through the computer pulls it straight in..lol

Y'know... that's probably what's wrong with my computer. It's getting louder and louder. It's a laptop and I've never tried to clean a laptop, but I used to do the desktop all the time.

I'm not sure all of them are like this, but I checked mine and parts of it does. It looks like it would take a special tool to take the entire back off. I have an old one (same brand; HP) that I'll experiment on first, but there has to be a way to clean out the dust.

Actually, I read something about it yesterday. It was saying that the can is full of ordinary air! and you blow it into the vents on the side and back of your computer. I'd heard of that stuff on TV shows but I've not seen it for sale anywhere. I wonder where you get it from??

Oh, ya I can imagine. When I had to have a tech come to my house and he took mine apart it was filthy and I had only had in a short time. I wish I had the small tool to open up the back and I would do it. I am soon going to get a new computer so I won't worry too much about it.

I'm glad to hear it was fixable. That dust can cause a ton of trouble but eventually it builds up. Radio knob static and TV static are caused by dust often times too. I haven't cleaned out a PC but if mine starts acting up...I'll have to remember that. Take care.

Basically your son blew it out with a can of air. When I was working we use to get the can's of air to blow out the keyboard and the printer. They work wonderful. Glad to hear your computer is running smoothly again. That reminds me to dust out the inside of my computer too. Have a nice evening.

Yes I sure do. Infact I have just removed the side of my computer before and use a swiffer duster to clean it out, being careful not to unplug any of the wires. Thank you for the reminder to clean the pc out.

Oh i see! I clean my own computers from hardware to software maybe once a week if I have the time but mostly I do. Last Wednesday I formatted it again and also clean the inside with my portable vacuum cleaner and brush so that it will not accumulate to much dust inside. Last year when I didn't mind cleaning them roaches and cobwebs were inside that's why it always heat up when I do high stress application on my PC. That's when I always clean them up.

yeah! this got to be normal to every one else's household. Roaches are growing and including our computers they are invading. I've put moth balls in my pc though, the scent doesn't matter anymore. At least they prevent mites and roaches in my pc.

That's a coincidence as it was only last week that I decided to clean out my machine. The fan started to sound very loud and laboring under the strain of everything. So I took the side of and the processor fan and the dust was caked thick on it. I cleaned it all and give it a good blowing through with my compressed air can. It's running great again now. I learned to do this a few years ago in an article in a magazine, otherwise I would never have thought to do this. It's amazing how much dust gets inside. _Derek

I have to do this with my computer every two months. You have to be careful, or you'll fry the insides when you take the cover off. I don't use the can of air, I use a make-up brush to clean it. My computer has three fans, and when they're not clean, they can be very noisy, lol! The darn keyboard gets gunky, too, so it's a good idea to clean that with the can of air, or just by turning it over and tapping it gently on your desk. It's like taking care of a car, I guess, you just have to do some maintenance on it every once in awhile.

I almost thought that he really blew your computer away. Yeah, dust always accumulated inside our pc especially under the CPU casing. We should open it up and clean it from time to time in order to let it have a better ventilation, especially the fan on top of the CPU. Dust also will make your motherboard short circuit because dust will attract or produce static current or charge that may damage your motherboard component. So, cleaning the internal of a CPU will definitely prolong your computer life and of course, like your, you will get a quiet computer.

No but I'm sure my husband does. He seems to know everything there is about computers. Maybe it's a guy thing. I don't know, but I do know that I will try this if my computer ever starts making a loud noise like the one you just described.
