Things look different.

The world is full of people with different temperament, some are kind, polite, helpful; some are just opposite. Things appear different to different persons.
To some a sum of 50 rupees (almost one US$) looks so big amount when given to a poor, but this looks small when given as a tip in a hotel.
Praying to god for few minutes looks hard to many, but spending 3 hrs of movie is ok for many.
After a day’s of hard work, we have no problem of going to the gym or club, but to do house work and help mom/wife; we feel tired.
We wait for 1 full year for Valentine’s Day, and we know it, but when to observe the ‘Mother's day ‘ we never know.
We are ready to forward jokes to friends but we are so reluctant to forward messages that have morale.
Last but not the least, see the picture, one couldn't give a piece of bread to the child in it, but this painting was sold for Rs 100,000.
NOTE-This came to me as forwarded message from a Professor friend who teaches Philosophy in the University.
Please comment on this and share your opinion.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Professor,
I couldn't see the photo but I was picturing the image on my mind. Yes some people don't care about helping some people but they are spending a lot of money on unnecessary things.
I remember a friend pouring out to me his frustration on his uncle. My friend don't have a good relationship with their boss as he was degrading him and not giving proper salary on him. While his uncle works long time in the same company as Engineer. He asked helped from him to lend him a money for his plane ticket going home, my friend will be getting money from the company before leaving the company. But his uncle refused. Many times he tried to asked for his help financially, but he's always rejected. And many times too this uncle, the next day will buy DLSR, Laptops (even when him and his family have so many laptops back home). He always says that he don't have money but the next day he will asked him to come with him for his help to tell him what is a good laptop or camera to buy, even when he just said to him that he don't have money.

That is a nice painting. But like you said, it is sad that some people would enjoy looking at it only but helping the real poor people won't be on their minds.

Hi Professor,
You have just mentioned the many ironies in our life. In the end, it boils down to what we value. I know some who are kind to their mothers and always doing good deeds, there are many other horrible persons doing horrible acts which I do not want to mention. That is just us, human beings, with our strengths and weaknessness. Many of us have faults which could not be overcome easily. Actually it depends on the individual. I believe in the power of conviction, if we resolve to do something we will do it. If we are lazy and are satisfied to get along with our lives day by day, our time will pass that way. Thanks for yet another interesting and thought-provoking discussion.

Life is full of ironies, paradoxical situations. In this age of consumerism and competition, moral values, cultural traditions and age old family ties have sharply shrunk. People want to have best of wares money can buy not just for their usefulness but to enhance their image in society.
People with riches can tip a waiter and not feed poor because tipping waiter is considered cool and done thing. They really don't think or care about millions of poor beings existing around.
But then, people with good morals also exist. They may not be as popular and preachy but they do go about their business of life quietly. Doing their bit for uplifting the society.

This kind of sight is also common here in the Philippines, specially in Manila, in those overpasses.
It's really ironic that a picture like this would be so liked , that it was sold for RS 100,000.00 .
If i have money, i wouldn't buy a painting that depicts sad sights. But in fairness, it's really a nice painting.

hi my friend, I think all the examples you gave only shows how imperfect this world we are living in is. This may sound ironic but different perceptions, reactions etc.. is what makes living in this world exciting, boring, sad etc..again depending on the uniqueness of the individual otherwise everything would be ''mechanical"
Oh the painting, they call that style social realism, they paint very minute and down to the last detail (picture like) and at the same time shows certain ills of society like poverty, the painting was most probably transferred from a real picture. I also paint prof and realism is also my style but not "social realism", I'd rather paint happy country scenes or people harvesting crops cause I do not like to paint misery, again differences in personality of individuals

Hello professor,
This is really pathetic for those who forget their mother and remember valentine day.
There are certain things which don't have meaning in our life but we still do that and forget those things which actually has meaning in our life.
I corelate this to lot of men who after getting married just forget their parents. How they do that?.When they are supposed to support their parents they simply want to get rid of them.

It is true that we regard many things from our own perspective. I think we are all guilty of this to some extent. We need to look at those around us from time to time with fresh and helpful eyes.

i Professor, What your friend says is very true and typical of most people. None of us are perfect, and if we were we would not be here. I think that we are all at different stages of our spiritual evolution and that's what makes for the vast differences in the way we see things. Blessings.

hi, professor.
could it be because the world's population is continually increasing and it is becoming more diverse as it grows? there are actually many factors that contribute to the drastic changes. one of them is technology and the pros and cons that go with it. a lot of people are addicted to the convenience of a lot of things because of technology that doing it the hard way is not appealing anymore. take for example, a son who is far away from home and is content to communicate via chat facilities instead of visiting his parents once in a while.

dear dada,
I am not totally guilty of this.
I know I am doing my share.
I might not be able to feed the whole of them who are suffering from hunger.
But I know I am doing my share and contributed enough to fed a few.
If only those millionaires knows to share their wealth- there will no more hungry mouth around the corner.
The photo is so touching- but sad, not all the wealthy are there is touched by this one.
Hugs to you and maa

the argument above would only imply the cultural differences, living status or psychosocial environment, but i guess the one's perspective of life itself continues to vary in each individual and thus the differences or arguments on the contrary would just go on and on and on.

It is really true what is written there, we are not thinking about really important things in our life. We mostly care only about such a irrelevant things. My opinion is then our current world is sick. That sick has a name as greed and selfish. Only thing what we do is careing about our plaesure, to live our confortable life. We have a power to destroy all poverty in the world, give everyone a slice of bread but we do just a little about it. Better is just care about our full wallet. And what the worst part: Even when you decide to do something about it, there will be so many SCAM organizations who just take what you give and do not send it to one who really need it. We really have no idea what is worth in life.
