Guilty... I Used Chemical Weapons to Mercilessly Kill Hundreds.... To Save Me

Hi Lotters and Friends For those who arent aware, I was away at my Dad's place due to my health and have returned back to my place of loneliness yesterday. Upon reaching, I found that there is a special kind of Army everywhere - Ants - in the closet, in the cupboard,on the bed, on the computer table (they already had eaten away my C key earlier) and not even that, they are also in the water filter (its too hot here at 43Degs C already and I guess, after a days work they do need to relax and opt for a swim). The only way that I had was to use the Chemical Weapons of Mass destruction against them and somehow, I managed to survive that stink of those Weapons and their dead corpses. Today, I managed to get rid of those corpses too and did a small burial for them... Now, the question is - I am worried if reading this, anyone (an activist) will come up and sue me. I know they do this thing if I would have killed a bigger animal or even tried to kill a human. But the poor Ants, Cockroaches, Lizards... Arent they supposed to be protected too? Or They Have No Rights! Have a Safe weekend and Do Not KILL Cheers, theSids.

Hi Sids, I don't know what to say but you should be penalised for it. Small insects also have the right to stay on the earth but they have separate their place and we people have captured their places too and are making their lives miserable. Don't worry at least i am not going to tell it to Menaka Gandhi or she will come to your house and will seal it for killing those innocent ants which may have come to meet you.

hi sjvg Thanks for sparing me and not mentioning it to Ms. Menaka Gandhi... I would have been completely lost if that happened... You see, these activists will not consider that I am terminally ill and I am pretty sure they wont have any space at Tihar for me

Dear Sidhu, This question is in my mind for long time dear brother. Last week I have left some chappatti in a plate closed with another in Kitchen in the morning then left for work, evening I have seen that there are lot of ants in it, you know what I did, I just kept the plate, including the chappati and ants, in the sink and put water in it. After doing the same I asked the question to myself, they are small creatures and killing them mercilessly, have I done a crime? There are several another thoughts came in my mind for justifying my act, but I am sure, I have not done a good thing. Of course those have the right to live like us; their life is also precious for them. We don’t have any right to kill them, like any other animals or human beings. Knowing the same fact very well, I did it, and may do it in future too. I may get the punishment not from the human Court but from the God’s Court.

Viju, ants were surprise guests so it happened, if I aware about their presence earlier I could take remedies. So you think we don't want to feel guilty, thank you dear.

Hi sree, keep a plate of water and place the chappatis on them..... or the refrigerator could be used. secondly, both of you don't need to worry for punishment as ants are born with little life to live... so if you are not killing them, someone else will.... so both of u cheeers!!!!

Hi jazel The curry powder really works? I do have no idea on this as we dont have any curry powder at home due to my wife being strict on my medicated diet which bars me from anything spicy... but now I can ask her opinion on this... And for peta... hmmm... okay but please ensure that I am given a great accomodation in case they arrest me... something better than the top notch politicos get...

hi thesids, i guess it is the survival thing that you have in mind. the destroy your property in order to live. and that is not fare. but for other crawling, and disgusting insects, it is a must. cockroaches.. they bring sickness so they need to be exterminated. of course they are better off outside of your home. ann

Hi Ann Cockroaches make many of us sick as I see quite a few mentioning this. And I too am no exception... maybe their color or their places of existence make us feel so sick of them but at least they arent as big a destructor as these ants. Normally I always give the ants a safe passage but kill them only when they start invading my territory and mess up with my things - like this time

Yay,I hate cockroaches buddy, don't know why I have a phobia with it,I jump and my hair would stand seeing one of them,oh my! But with ants, especially black ones,I just let them where they are. Well,I only see them in our laundry, lol! Oh! I remember one night, when my baby is asleep,I found few ants roaming in my baby's bed,I had no choice but to get rid of them before they get inside my baby's ears or even bite her. I just let my hands passed them by and they all became flat, hehe! Poor ants! I'm just defending my baby. I think you should do some general cleaning in your home buddy. ants are beginning to make your home their home.

Hi mtr My home now seems to be theirs... maybe because I am staying away most of the time... but then when I am around, I still find these ants keep coming back. There are some special holes in the flooring and the corners of this construction which they have made their homes. I have been able to trace out some of these and have put the chemicals in them. Also, I am planning to get some wax and seal off these little microscopic holes so that they finally cease to show up. My wife too is quite scared of these ants specially on the bed - she has this bad experience when she was a kid and one of these ants had made her days hard as it had got into her ear. I did not realize or think this was possible but her experience has made me feel a little scared of these - so I find myself killing them whenever I can.

Oh my! I know how painful it is,what your wife had experienced from the ants. Actually,it wasn't me who felt the pain but my nephew. He never stopped crying and he said it's biting his ears inside,my brother had no choice but to rush him in the hospital. These insects wont stop biting inside our ears 'cause they are afraid too and maybe they thought they can get away by biting. Take care buddy!

The insect you called ant seems to be white ant, judging by them haveing eaten away your C key.Over here people are scared at the mention of white ant.I see no reason why some may sue you.Do you and the ants, cockroaches, lizards ,etc.have to coexist peacefully?

Hi there, Great, humorous, witty post. :) I too have three different types of ants stealing every kind of nourishment I have here in my place. The red ones eat at the protein-rich foodstuff like meat, cheese, and the stuff we eat as meals, like rice. They even go after my powdered milk! The black ones are after my sugar, sugary drinks, bread and other sweet stuff. And lastly, the tiny, slow-moving brown ones are constantly, even regularly found floating in colonies in my COVERED mock-Starbucks glass (porcelain and comes with a rubber cover with a hole in it, but looks exactly like a Starbucks to-go paper cup). I guess they go for the water through the hole in the lid. There's this ant bait liquid that I buy; I read that its poison is actually borax, then it was mixed with liquid sugar or something. One good thing about ant bait as opposed to dealing with them critters only when they've invaded your space is that the ant bait gets carried back to the ants' nest and kills the whole colony. I dropped off on filling up my ant bait "stations" so the ants kept coming. Maybe I should be a little less lazy and keep up the ant "feeding" till they're all gone, no? Good on ya for getting rid of those pests! :D

Hi nenyalorien Whoa you sound like a student who has researched a lot on these ants - I love the way you classified them The ant bait you mention sounds so great... it kills and eradicates them right at their base... unfortunately this is not available in markets here , but now that you mention it, I think I can try to prepare this at home - borax with some sugar and then dry it out and put it in use

I am on your side, thesids. Your discussion is very clever. Atleast you have a sense or humor about the whole situation. We have a few starting to come in the house. I shall use your method when it becomes a disaster in here. About 2 years ago we had to call a pest control company to help move them out of the house or better yet give them a place to go rest in peace! And yes, we humans have rights and need to control our safe haven from those little buggers.

Hi carolbee Thanks for appreciating my discussion and it is really good to know that this can be used by you. The response at #15 above too has a better idea and I am sure I will give this one a try the next time (if there is one next time) as I have sealed off some of the holes in the floor by using molten wax from where these armies were coming up.

Dear Ms Hatley you read my thoughts so well and clear I was wondering what would have happened if Mr. Bush Jr. was still the Prez and maybe I would have been an FBI and US wanted fugitive On an earlier discussion about these ants, you did mention the use of borax and other powders which I got from the local market this time and they really helped me to win this battle one time again...

Ants are the main resources of the earth. Thanks to them they keep the flow of the cycle of life of all on this planet. They maintain the grounds. With that said, they also produce a lot! That does not give an excuse to kill them but if they are making you miserable, and it was out of self defense, perhaps your sentence will be short.

Hi Lore It really feels so pleasant to see you back and on my discussion Yes dear, these ants have a high reproduction rate but I think that this is because of the fact that most of them are short lived (have a short life span). You do mention of a shorter sentence for my atrocity... how about a day?

Dear friend, This post reminds me of a time, a few months ago, when I was talking to my mother over the wireless phone. I went to the kitchen to prepare coffee with the other hand and I knew that I had a treat somewhere as Leticia, my helper, had made pankakes and left one for the next day (she doesn´t come every day). So, as I was talking, I saw an ant. I killed it with my finfer, not thinking about it anymore. I kept on talking and saw another one. Then another and another. I hung the phone and started following them. My pankakes was where I keep the dishes. It was black! I had to grab it quickly and pour water over it bebore throwing it away. I followed the culprit´s path and discovered where they came from. Even though I had told them in several languages that the garden was theirs and the house was mine, they traspassed. So I threw a chemical weapon in the place where they were in the house and boiled a kettle of water to pour at the hole outside. They got the idea. It was a battle, not the end of the war. But for the rest of Summer, they undertood the boundaries of our territories. Hot water is wonderful at places where it does not harm anything else. And you don´t have to destruct paths (other soldiers will fill the gap); look closely and discover where they live. I´m an activist. But charity begins at home.

Hi marguicha Even though I had told them in several languages that the garden was theirs and the house was mine, they traspassed Sounds exciting ! But I only know three languages and none of them are interpreted the right way by these ants here - though they belong to the city yet they havent learned the language yet I did try with the hot water earlier and it worked good for a few days but somehow the ants this time learned to swim as I found many of them had turned my water filter into their swimming pool... I fail to understand what they get out of those Filter Candles at least as it is said to be made from some stones.

for those belonging to paws or peta i think they would really protest the way you eliminate those poor insects. some animal activist find it horrible to kill insects but instead they just spray non-harmful chemicals to drive them away and not to kill them so they just transfer to another territory. though, you reason s that those insects almost invade you home and you only do such things to clean up your home.

Hi thesids, Ants are the guests in summer for our house (especially in my kitchen) and I believe in ‘aditi devo bhava’ (guest is god) and I treat them well. Did you get it right? I put some sugar and they just eat it and vanish… well I actually don’t know if they eat the sugar or not but for sure, they just vanish. So I didn’t have to fight them or kill them….. Hope the chemical smell is off and you are feeling good.... Take care and have a nice time.

Hi viju Do you really mean that I should use sugar for the peace treaty? See, to me sugar comes in the form of Chocos, Candies and Coffee... and you know that I go over them... ...thinking... Aw, c'mon, no way... I will have those chocos, candies and coffee for myself... and also, it is unhealthy for the teeth to eat more sugar... bad for these ants... they can be happy with the chemicals which kill fast and leave no after effects on them :)

Hiya thesids, Me I am no one to say what is right or wrong in the sense of doing away with those kind of insects. They certainly can be troublesome yes. If you needed to get rid of them and they did not want to get your message well that´s it then away with them. We have lots of those awful flies here in Summer and what I use is Pine disinfectant on the Porch outside and then round and over some parts of the Garden in the back. Of course I water the Pine disinfectant down but the smell of it does keep them away for a good many hours and that way I do not have to try and shoo them out of the house so much or kill the really persistant ones if I can help it. They hate the smell of Pine and Bleach but I opt for Pine because I have a Dog too so they stop annoying him as well. It´s not infallible but it does work to a point and also the wasps stay away as well much to my joy and the mosquitos they stay at the end of the Garden. Like to add that I don´t enjoy killing them either but fly sprays are useless against these flies so out comes the Pine Disinfectant they hate the smell you see. xxx

You would not have had only activists to sue you if you had killed an human. I have no problem with ants, but there is a lot of flies this spring, and I also use chemical weapons to get rid of them. They are perhaps protected, but not inside my home.

I am a peace loving person at heart, you know... They are perhaps protected, but not inside my home. At least, it is safer outside for a change

I haven't given that much thought. But I think ants don't have rights whenever they come face to face with humans. On the other hand, we humans have the option of exterminating them at our pleasure or just ignore them as they go about their daily routine of picking up our bread crumbs or any food leftovers they can store for the rainy days. I do still need to qualify that though, if it's red ants, I won't even give it much thought, I'll just kill them any way I can. Cheers!
