Heavy breakfast or light breakfast

Some believe that a heavy breakfast is needed for good health to start the day. Others say that one should have a light breakfast. Since I am in a hurry to rush to work in the mornings I am not able to make myself a heavy breakfast. May be milk with oats or else a fruit. Do you like having a heavy breakfast?

My father used to make light foods in the morning. It includes dosa, chapatties and other items. I consider break fast is the one of the food for every one of us. This food controls the over all performance of a day.

I also like to have different dosas and idilis. We do make chappathi, puttu, appam, etc for breakfast. I also think that breakfast control all the activities that performed throughout the day.

Hello friend, I prefer the light breakfast. It is good for our health. So try to take your breakfast lightly. Have a nice day.

I think it is always good to have heavy breakfast and light supper and dinner. I think breafast is the first meal that gives energy throughout the day.

My breakfasts are usually light. Just cereal or some fruit. If I have a heavy breakfast, I feel sluggish all day and don't feel like eating anything else all day.

I prefer to take a heavy breakfast early, so I can skip the lunch until the next meal and so, save some money.

Ideal Breakfast - What I would love to have for breakfast if made by someone else. Toast, eggs, salad, potatoes.
Normally I have a light breakfast of just oats or yogurt, cause it's fast and I don't have to spend that much time in the kitchen, as I make my own lunch everyday and sometimes I make dinner here as well. The ideal breakfast for me if someone else made it for me would be something like in this photo I'm attaching, yummy. I could eat this for lunch or "brunch", as it might be too filling for me, not being used to eating that much for breakfast. I think a good breakfast is a good start to the day but we all don't have time and skill to make some heavy foods that early in the a.m.

Toast with eggs and french fries and salad is just too filling for breakfast. I too would not mind if you made this for me for lunch... may be tomorrow??? I will be waiting!! Many of us who have the skill to make some good breakfast do not have the time. !!!

I think heavy breakfast is good for health than the light breakfast. It is always great to have breakfast that gives us enough energy. I think it is good to have homemade breakfasts. I think I have heavy breakfast and I like dosa and idili very much with sambar and chutney.

Milk and just fruit may not be sufficient for you Mayka.Oats may be a better option . I have a normal breakfast but I have noticed one thing as highlighted in one of the old discussions by Life 8118---when we skip bf or eat a very light breakfast there is likely to be a sugar craving and extra snacking tendency.

I agree that there are extra sugar cravings if we skip breakfast. But the maddening lifestyle that we live we hardly get time for breakfast because we have to rush for work. I very often then end up eating this that I should not eat. And the office canteen is full of such forbidden food stuff!!!

It's not the size of the breakfast, but the efficiency. It has been proven that high protein breakfasts are the most efficient. Eggs, nuts, dairy, soy (only fermented soy, fish, poultry, meats, are best. You can have fruit, vegetables or high fiber foods with them, but you NEED protein. Studies on workers and children in school showed that those with a good protein breakfast can focus longer, don't tire as easily and do not snack as much. Protein is a slow burn that gives constant energy. Carbs (cereal, pancakes, bread, etc.), give a fast burn so a spike in blood sugar levels and then a crash. Also, avoid things with MSG, as it tires you. Once I started having high protein breakfast, I see a HUGE difference in my energy levels. My boss was complaining to me how she tires so easily. I asked her what she ate for breakfast. She said, "Coffee, or coffee and a doughnut." I told her to try the protein breakfast, but she ignored my advice. One day, she came in very energetic and said, "I feel so good today and not tired. I don't know why." I asked her what she ate for breakfast. She thought for a moment and said, "Oh, I grabbed a leftover, chicken cutlet." I said, "Ah, you had protein!!" She said, "Oh, yeah. Really, it works? Wow!" Then she went back to her old ways and started complaining again. I reminded her and she said, "But I don't have time to make breakfast!" I said to have food that are ready made, even yogurt. She started to do that and now she is not tired all of the time. She says her memory and focus is better, too. I rest my case!

While most common sayings recommend having a heavy breakfast, I think a lot depends upon how a person feels. If one feels comfortable, one can have a light breakfast also at times. However, the dinner should not be top-heavy.

It depends, if i am just in the house i'd have a light one- i'd have the second round a few hours later anyway.. but if i am going somewhere to school or mall, or wherever i take a heavy one.. so i won't get hungry easily.

I work for 8 hours a day. And then another two hours to reach my office. So have to leave quite early in the morning and it difficult making a breakfast everyday. And very often end up eating stuff that should be avoided.

Heavy or light, breakfast is breaking fast. So, you can have a glass of milk, some cornflakes, or noodles or toast. I like a medium breakfast which is usually about thee idlis or two dosas with tea. These are Indian breakfast dishes.

I usually end up having idlis or dosas on weekends when I am at home and have the time to make them. But on weekdays when I have to rush to work it is difficult making something.

To be honest it depends on my mood and how I feel. Sometimes I jkust feel sick nad nauseous so I eat a light breakfast such as toast with butter. But other mornings Im starving so I have oatmeal, and some fruit or even a smoothie. I think its all in how you were raised we never had really a large breakfast so I carry that with me. I usually snack all day rather than having these large meals;.

We were always given heavy breakfast at home as kids. So was always used to that. But after I started working it became difficult making breakfast early morning so then started changing my lifestyle accordingly. Nowadays I hardly have time to make anything and eat whatever ready to eat stuff is there at home.

Yes, its hard especailly with a busy schedule. I usually make it and bring it with me. Also, bring small snacks for example eat half a bagel then a few hours later some fruit, and so on.

I sometimes carry something to have in Office but get so busy with work that I do not get the time to eat it and very often end up bringing it back home or else keep it in office for the next day.

I would rather have light breakfast than have a heavy one. I can't eat too much in the morning, just like my stomach isn't wake up or something. By the way, breakfast is important. I usually not ate breakfast several years ago. And I started to eat breakfast is because I got some stomach troubles, like tomachache. So I think to eat breakfast in everyday morning is essential to our healthy.

I dont eat a heavy breakfast. Im usually not able to eat much more than some eggs, a couple pieces of bacon and maybe one piece of toast. And then every once in a while I might have some hashbrowns. If I get up late and my hubby has already cooked I will just have some oatmeal. If I eat a large breakfast I tend to get sluggish and that slows me down during the day. ~C~

That all depends upon my schedule. If I am just staying home for the day,I would prefer light breakfast because I can just grab something whenever I am hungry but when I am working with a hard work for the day, I would really eat a heavy breakfast to hold me until noontime.

As for me, I work at night so breakfast for me would mean just a light meal because I will sleep a few minutes after that.

I find that no matter how heavy or light my breakfast, I always get hungry or my stomach becomes growly when I get to work. I find that I try as hard as I can to stuff myself up in the mornings, and then when I get to work, I find that I'm still hungry. But I think that's because I'm not fully awake when I have breakfast so that my stomach can't digest food properly, and I end up looking for food when I'm wide awake. So either I skip breakfast altogether, or I allot probably an hour before I have breakfast. I'm not really sure what's wrong with me, but I hope I could find a way to fix this!

I dont like heavy breakfast in the morning. It easily makes me feel bloated. To compensate the everyday's activities, i would just bring some biscuits and muffins which are easy to eat. :)
