So this divorce is almost behind me, the house is sold, I'm buying a new one, great new boyfriend, and my job gives me 60 days notice. Good severance package, but still... Then this morning the dog dies. Ever had a really up and down year?

Sorry about the dog. I have really up and down days! Today was kinda one of them. I thought it started off good, I was in a good mood because it's Wednesday, I finished my school work for the week, I heard a rumor that the girl who's out of work on maternity leave might be taking another 14 weeks (she's due back next week), with her gone I'm getting an extra 5 to 10 hours a week which is good... Then just before I leave the power company shows up at my door informing me we're past due and if I don't pay now we'll be shut off.. but our bank account isn't pretty this week either.. ugh!! Got a whole mess of other things we're a bit behind on that we gotta try to figure out when to pay.. and here I thought we'd have extra money for actually doing stuff this summer, but I guess not. Oy vay! Then more good news.. I had a meeting with my daughter's counsellor and the counselling is being extended through the summer.. which is definitely a good thing! So.. what are you doing about the job thing?

hi katsmeow good to see you. about turning off the lights with me it was the gas and as luck would have it I had just the exact amount plus one dollar in my checking account so I paid it.so been there and done that. I am glad you are getting the counselling extended for your daughter.but at least you will make some extra money with the extra hours.,

Personally even with a lot of the Better things happening this yr. for me, the nuisance with my leg wound not wanting to heal is about enough to drive me crazy, but 2011 was one of those yrs. that it seemed like when it rained it poured. Almost lost my job, my Health was not always the Best, etc. But thru it all I just continued to Pray and trust and believe God that everything one day will be OK. Wishing you the Best.

Yes.....and things will get better...just think of losing the job as a door closing on something old and the possibility of a new door opening with greater opportunities....and I know how hard it is to lose a pet.....my sympathies!

She told me about the dog, sorry to hear about that. I heard also who was taking it the worse of them all, and hope she can cope with it soon. A few years ago was an up and down year for me.

Company is solid, profits just not big enough. Still have a job for 60 days, so house deal is solid.

wow dawn sorry about your dog and getting 60 days notice, not fun and a dog is a family member so sad, hugs. yes 2009 when my son lost his job ,could not get another one and we ran out of savings, were evicted and homeless. but my son was worried about my safety on the streets and got me into Gold crest and a little later he got help from housing America for free apt so he had a place to stay while looking for work. so it was upbeat that way. but truly I would not have opted to live in an retirement center but still living in 'homeless shelters at my age and health was not smart so here I am yet.Glad your house sold and hope you will love your new home.hope you soon have a great new job dawn.

I am so sorry to hear about your dog! :( Animals are like family, so I know how hard it is to lose them. We lost our cat we had for years and years a couple of years ago. My advice would just be to celebrate what a wonderful life the dog had, pray to him or her whenever you feel like talking to an old friend, and just focusing on all the wonderful positive things you have going for you right now. Things could be so much worse! At least you have a wonderful boyfriend to support you through this rough time!

Life is always covered with ups and downs. If there is an up there will be a down. This is really turned out as an theory in our life. Anyway sad to know that you had lost your lovely dog. We cannot do anything above the decision of the good.

Hi Dawnald, I am so sorry to hear that. There are really moments in our lives that everything just comes down. We may want to save the one but we just couldn't control it. I know the feeling since I've encountered that as well. Last year...and it was indeed terrible. Now, this year...I am trying to stand up again and start all over. As if I haven't gone through that pain...and as if I haven't wasted something. In life, we must really accept things for us to move on. Life is indeed a challenging one. Happy Mylotting.

Hi Dawn... It is good that things are going good with you.. I'm sorry to hear about your dog, but hey that is life.. I've had ups and downs, yeah... But the downs were so deep n huge that I treated a small up, as a miracle (probably, thought myself unworthy of it)... It feels great to read that things're goin' good for some of us. It kinda gives me hopes that for me its gonna be better... Hopefully!

I recently switched to Telecom Industry... I was with Singapore Airlines earlier... 'Customer Care' is my field of work.. Now I'm with 3, which is mobile phone company based in UK... I cleared my final assessment last week, n now 'On Job Training'. Things are good here... My salary has increased by 8K... :-), so I'm quite happy with the present job.

Yep...lots of them actually. It's all the good times that help us to get through the bad which sometimes are worse than others. I do remember one year that was so bad (or at least it felt so) that I actually sat down and wrote a list of all the bad things that happened just within a couple of months time. The list of positives was a much shorter list but still...it was something to hang on to. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog and your job. Both are devastating experiences. While nothing will detract from your loss, it's good that you are also focusing on what is good in your life. Hang in there. Whenever I get down or upset, my daughter puts on some Bob Marley. When my 16 month old grandson is being a crank, she advises me to put on Bob Marley. He is the answer to all life's problems according to her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jo8HFVq3Wn8

That sounds like a good idea-write down the good and the bad stuff, then remind myself of the good stuff! I'll have to try it during my darker times, and remind myself that there actually WERE good times! Thanks for the suggestion!

That is a very sad time. It is good that your life is looking up, but I guess you can never have good without bad, and vise versa.
