Our whole family is doing what they can to live better and lose weight. My daughter is drinking over a gallon of water a day. Not only is she eating less, but her body and skin looks much better. She is going to be 43 this month, and she looks in her 20s.
My daughter said I am changing too. I'm wearing a lot if her cast off clothing. I list 5 pounds this week. I had gained a little weight during Christmas, so I'm glad to be getting that off.
I had a big breakfast this morning: I cut up a banana and an apple and threw in some grapes. I added a cup of Special K cereal and a 6 ounce of raspberry nonfat yogurt. It was really good and filling and only 5 points.
My son in law is doing well also. He quit the sweet Cokes and went to Coke Zero. He has gone from meat chili to vegetarian chili. He likes chili. He made other substitutions for the meat he likes to the lesser fat versions. I believe he will start trimming down soon. He is only big in his midsection. He has a small behind and thin legs. He has the body shape that many people with diabetes have. He is kind I'd apple shaped. He has some worrisome symptoms that could lead to heart trouble, so in glad he is trying to make a change.
What changes have you made in your lifestyle? Please share. We can all learn from each other.

My daughter and I shared eachothers clothes back when she was in highschool. I was about 110 pounds then and am about three times that now. My daughter just turned 41 in October. I am really proud of you PQ. It isn't easy but you sure have made it seem so. I love raspberry yogurt. And Blackberry Harvest is Yum too. Your SIL is doing well too. That is just great! My grandson, my daughter and I are all heavy in our midsections. My daughter is getting him to go for a walk most nights before they go to bed. I don't find any canned chili that I like except Wendy's. I am glad my family has no heart trouble history in it. Just the mental woes. I am truly glad you and your family are doing so well. Changes in my lifestyle? I am trying to eat more vegs and fruit. I don't think you can get enough.

Good job on the veggies and fruit. WW wants us to have 8 servings if fruits and veggies a day. I often get even more in. My daughter saw how I make my 'fruit sundae' and she asked me to make her one. I said she knew how to make it but she wanted me to do it for her. I tossed in the grapes, cut up a Macintosh apple, a banana and a half cup of honey bunches of oats with Greek yogurt in it. I use Special K on mine, but she wanted the other cereal. She had peach yogurt on hers. She couldn't finish it so she covered it and will finish it tonight when she takes her meds.
I seem to do well when I'm out walking but then get all crippled up after sitting a little while.
His chili was fat free too. I asked him how he liked it and Ge said he did. He asked me to get the makings for a real pot if chili. I said I would, but I won't eat it. I want to be able to know my points on everything I eat. I could calculate everything that goes into it, but it's a chore to get it accurate.

We are having Wendy's for dinner. I have been so hungry for their chili the last few dsys. I would probably feel better if I walked. My hip hurts so bad in the Winter I do as little as possible. Ya, figuring the points would be a hassle. It sure is good though.

In 2009, I had a pack a day Pepsi habit and it was hard work, but no longer have that habit and it sure was a lot of calories every day. I lost weight quickly when I stopped drinking lots of calories every day. I try to do some kind of exercise every day and sometimes its dancing, which helps me lower stress.

You will lose weight when you stop drinking sugar drinks. One of my former coworkers lost 100 pounds in a year by just omitting Pepsi from her diet.

Well, we are traveling right now. At my daughter's we do not overeat, but on the road we eat out more. We have been eliminating any restaurant or fast food meals. I have been making more salads at home, made from dark leafy greens and spinach. I often pack soup for my work suppers. While I have been doing those things I have felt really well. One of the meals we ate on the road was Subway and you can get so many vegetables on your sandwich it is really delicious and healthy. I guess I would say I am eating more fruits and vegetables and eating lighter. I have not weighed.

Good job! I like to make a garden salad and add peach slices and an ounce of ranch dressing. I sometimes cut up a chicken hot dog in my salad.

Yes it is. He loves my chili. I make it very lean. He also buys vegetable chili in a can. I had some and it's good and fat free.

Good for you! I'm proud of you. My dad has lost 20 pounds, and he's doing well. I'm proud of him. With my mom how she is, he's been so stressed. And he does stress eating a lot. He gets plenty of exercise since he is always on the go. My problem is exercise. I HAVE however started adding more veggies to my diet. I get plenty of fruit, I drink lots of water, but I have a hard time putting veggies in my normal day to day diet. But I'm making more of an effort, and maybe you'll understand what I mean when I saw I feel "cleaner" on the inside because of it.

The thing I have found, AP is that since I am eating more spinach, broccoli, etc. that I am much more regular, if you know what I mean. It is so much better for a person than trying all the fiber drinks and fiber bars, etc. It does make you feel cleaner and healthier. I make a crustless quiche with spinach and whatever other veggies I can get inexpensively and that is a perfect breakfast. I make a 9x13 pan early in the week and hubby and I have quick breakfasts by warming it up in the microwave. Veggies without effort.

I have a tendency to overeating and I see I get fat really quickly. I want to lose some weight so I don't look chubby on my photos. Last year I tried to do fasting. I skip rice and just eat small portions of food and it trims quite fast. I also into a lot of easy low impact exercises to loosen up my muscles. I also love preparing fresh fruit and vegetable salads now and as much as possible lessen processed foods in the diet.

I'm eating way less meat than I used to. I've been eating more chicken and fish and less pork and beef in the past few years but now have even cut down on that.
I woke up this morning to the smell of bacon cooking. I went into the kitchen to find my husband frying up at least a half pound of bacon and 3 or 4 fried eggs. I grabbed some yogurt (I like strawberry, apple or pineapple) and a small apple.
I wonder who will live longer in this house!
Just kidding. My husband, as you may know, has had 5 bypasses already to save his dumb butt. He now thinks that, because he is on a blood thinner and cholesterol medications, that he can eat whatever he wants and it won't hurt him. Actually, he just stopped taking his cholesterol meds because they were giving him muscular problems. So, all that cholesterol he just shoveled into his stomach this morning is probably already harming his body.
It doesn't take a lot to improve our health. I don't understand people like my husband who seem to think that no matter what they do to themselves (drinking, smoking, eating a lot of fried, salty or fatty foods) it won't hurt them any.
My husband still has issues with his feet turning blue/purple, yet he continues to work on destroying himself. After two surgeries and 5 bypasses, you'd think he would be smart enough to realize that he needs to change his habits, wouldn't you? For someone who claims to be so smart, he sure is dumb.
What are the symptoms your son-in-law has? He can't be that old, right? Well, my husband is 52 and had his first bypass when he was 51 but had PAD for years before that. It wasn't until his toes were so painful he couldn't stand it that he finally went to see a doctor which lead to his first bypass surgery because he had no pulse in his feet at all.

You mean your 43 year old daughter lost weight by drinking a gallon of water a day. I know that when you drink a lot, you will also feel always full so much so that you don't have the appetite to eat much anymore.
I think i will add that, drinking lots of water to my determination to exercise vigorously at least every other day for one hour, plus not eating rice at night and eating lesser.
I really hope i will lose my midsection tummy also.
Nice job my friend , for you and your family, keep it up!

Unfortunately, I like eating unhealthy food. I know the drawbacks, but sometimes I simply can't help myself. I should probably eat more apples oranges and stuff like that. Healthy stuff.
The thing is, that even if I eat all kinds of food that should make you fat I am very thin. My 13 years old brother has almost the same weight that I have. Funny isn't it.
The thing is that I have periods when I eat a lot, and other periods when I don't. Who knows why.
