I cannot believe how tired I am tonight

It is only 8:30 but I have been wishing for sleep for a good hour. I keep telling myself I will write a freelance article then go on to bed. I donated three units of platelets this afternoon, and I know that is part of it. I did not drink extra fluids last night or this morning and that is a contributing facttor. I did this donation on an impulse as the snow shut down the donation center the last time I was scheduled.
Before I did that I took the recycling to the transfer station, went to the "share shack" and found shelves I wanted. Got hubby to drive out to help me load. We came home, had a cup of coffee, and then went to the next town for the donation. Afterwards we went for some major shopping so I can make good meals for the week.
Of course groceries must be unloaded, and we made supper. A good hamburger to help replinish me. I think I am going to go get a drink, maybe write an artice, and go to bed really early, I need it.

No wonder why you're tired. It sounds like you had a busy day there. All that running around, shopping and giving blood. That would make anyone tired. I would have just let the article go for the night and went to sleep.

I cannot even remember what I finally did about the article. I know that I wrote it, it got accepted and I will be paid for it tomorrow. I think I left it for the next day, but dreamed about it.You do not even want to hear about yesterday.

I am getting ready for work, again. Because we are understaffed I worked sixty five hours last week. I have an article to write, but I believe I can put it off until tomorrow, if I want to. Better check. You know 10-20 a week is not much, but it is better than nothing. Where did you go for your weekend? I hope you had fun.

I usually sleep pretty well when I finally lay down. I will take it a little easy today as I will work tonight. Maybe even take a nap.

Happy Birthday Carol. We do not have many international food choices here, but I enjoy when I visit Minneapolis and get to try different things. What kind of dishes are Peruvian foods?

I think every day ends up being busier than I planned. I was commenting here and got a phone call. My son's girlfriend ran out of gas, I had to go help her. I came back home and got to eat breakfast and I am doing some cooking.

Thanks for this discussion; some times i feel so tired for no apparent reasons, if i walk for say 10 minutes only, i feel i am spent up and exhausted, doctors say it is due to the diabetic neuropathy
Need some clarification-'what is this donation of platelets'?

My sister has some of the same diabetic issues. At this time I am not diabetic. A person's blood is made up of many components: red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma and platelets. Platelets help your blood clot and maybe some other things. They are given to burn victims, cancer patients and to some people who have broken bones. They are used for people who do not form blood clots to heal wounds. They cannot be stored for use more than five days by the hospitals before they deteriorate, so there is a constant need. My blood type is one that many people can receive, and for some reason my body produces an abundance of healthy platelets and since I found this out I go once or twice a month and get put on an apheresis machine. It takes out my blood, removes platelets and replaces the volume with saline solution. I can donate three units at a time. I know it sounds like a strange pass time, but I know I am helping others so I really enjoy doing this.

Sounds like you rushed off your feet the entire afternoon that day, apart from donating platelet. No wonder you felt shattered. It is said that people should eat light food the day before donating platelets.I don't know if it is true.

I try to eat a good meat meal the night before giving blood. It is the fluids that are the most important, I think. They give you a sweet snack and juice or water after platelet donation. At the whole blood drives they usually give you a sandwich and liquids and a sweet. When I have a day off I tend to try to do a lot.

My days that I do not work are often more hectic than the work days. I need to set aside some personal time.

Hey, you've changed your avatar, good to see you my friend! Sometimes we have odd days where we are exceptionally tired, it may be a long day, our body telling us we need extra time to relax, medication, or even the weather can make us extremely drowsey and below ebb. I know for me two factors that make me more tired is my medication and also the heat, usually I have more energy in the Winter, in the Summer I get tired very very quickly. Sometimes it's just a simple case of our body lacking in vitamins and minerals or we need a sugar boost!

I am not as faithful about my vitamins as I should be or about exercising. I will take it easy before work, and work, actually, is a very easy thing, mostly house chores, meals for the two guys, pass their meds and relax and socialize.

Oh, please do not hit the wall. I usually am more rested and hydrated before I do this, but with work, and doing some medical running for others, I am not quite as tip top as I should be.

And you are seriously wondeing why you are tired? That wa a mammoth amount oof jobs tht you got through apart from donating blood. I used to give blood before I became hypertensive and when my husband needed blood the kids and I would donate at different centres so they didn't know that we were not waiting the required time before giving blood. Take it easy and get rest. I hope that you feel better today

No cheating here, we are all in the computer. I can give platelets as often as every six days, but only twenty four times a year. I am getting busy with some med appointments with my sister, some heart issues. It helps me resolve to be more healthy.

You had a really busy day! It's no wonder you're tired and then donating on top of it all. I hope today you're feeling much more spry.
I have to go grocery shopping on Friday and it's a big one. The worst part is the unloading and going up 2 flights...ugh. I usually make 3 trips doing that and I hate it.

I work harder at home than I do at work. I still have not done that article, it is next after I finish commenting here. I had to get up this morning and go help my son's fiance as she ran out of gas after dropping the girls at school. I feel sleepy again now.

What is the share shack?
I've never donated blood - I inquired about it with my specialist but due to my genetic disorder my blood wouldnt help anyone anyways - which has made me wonder if a transfusion of normal blood would be rejected by my body. I've never asked.

Our recycle center and waste transfer station has set up a sheltered area where people can drop off usable things that they no longer want or need and others can pick it up for free. Not everyone can give blood so that is why it is important for those who can to do it. May I ask what your genetic disorder is? You can tell me it is none of my business if you like, I am just curious. Or you can send me a PM.

Hello,
It sounds like you have fully load and interesting day. So it is just normal that you want sleep. I laughed about that groceries was unloaded with meal, because I too get this situation many times when I visit groceries. Anyway I hope you will get good dreams after this hard day.

Well, I am up, my brain was busy all night. Hubby will go give whole blood today, and I am going to go make lasagna, he already cooked the meat up. Once I am up I always have a full day.

Yes, blood platelets. They use a method called apherisis, where they run the blood through a machine that keeps the platelets, replaces the volume with some saline and sends the blood back to the vein. Platelets have a very short shelf life and that is the part of the blood that they give cancer patients and burn victims especially. I have heard of people with severe broken bones needing platelets as well.

You always seem to manage to stay quite busy.
I'm not tired, but, then, I haven't accomplished much today either. This ear infection or whatever that seems to be brewing kept me guarded against doing much that involved standing upright and walking about. I knew that I was in trouble when I started feeling a tad woozy in the supermarket; it didn't get any better after getting home. Hopefully, the answer is simple and easily reparable.

With those symptoms I would take some Mucinex and use saline nasal spray to see if that helped clear things out. You take it easy and see if you can beat it.

I'm tired as well. I thought I was going to write an article, but I suppose I got lucky Helium deleted one of my newly submitted articles...issues with citations, I think. Fine with me. I re-wrote part of it and submitted to Y!CN. Hopefully they don't reject it. lol.

I have not written anything on Helium in ages. . . I write for a site that gives me upfront payments and no residuals. Never got around to writing for Y. I have had an occasional re write on these other articles, but not often.

Hopefully I am not coming down with something, I have been pretty healthy this year. I will do some extra napping. While I was gone yesterday I got a call wondering if I would work an extra shift at work. It was so late when I got back I did not even respond. I am already going to work forty seven hours this week.
