I have a simple but deep question for you. Do you believe in evolution or creation? Why? I will share my views while responding to your comments.

I acknowledge the existence and truth of both. The creation myths in the Book of Genesis describe reasonably accurately but in basic terms, such as might be understood by nomadic tribes 6000 years ago, the timeline of Creation but omit the process of evolution, which would not have been comprehensible at the time.

It's a good response. Though, I'll say evolution is the source of everything.

@excellence7 Evolution cannot be the source. The initial act of Creation must be the only source. Evolution is just a part of the continuous process of creation. You see, I hold that Creation is still happening. It was never a one-off job, done in a week or a day or a moment of time. It is still going on and the energy, power, 'Love of God' - call it what you will - is, in fact, the ONLY thing which keeps everything in existence.

@owlwings Then I will like to ask you something. Who do you think has created everything? God? Who is the God you believe has created everything? I need this answer before we can continue this intellectual debate.

@excellence7 I believe in evolution , because the evolution of embryo is a child . The evolution of milk is curd . The evolution of a caterpillar is butterfly . Evolution does not perish . So the key of the creation is evolution . I think I am correct .

Thank you for your response. Evolution is explained by science. Creation is explained by myths and scriptures. I'll go for science too - evolution.

Except that the type of evolution you describe is the natural course of events for the things mentioned...a human embryo becomes a child, that's the nature of that event. A human embryo doesn't become a colt, or a kitten or a puppy. A caterpillar doesn't become a raspberry or a pig. Milk degrades when it sours and becomes a curd. That is actually more of a de-evolution, if such a word exists. But milk when soured is still milk. It doesn't become a rose or a catfish. Everything follows its natural course that is drawn up in its DNA. Nothing can actually change into something else. A tiger bred with a lion creates a liger, but that liger is always sterile so it can't breed true to form again. Same goes for mules, the off-spring of a donkey and a horse. Sterile, so the only way to get more mules is to breed the donkey and horse together again. That sort of breeding goes against the natural course of events, so it fails at some point. That is why the theory of evolution cannot be true.

you describe growth which is a kind of evolution, though evolution involves more - it means change over time, and explains how creatures change into other creatures - not a baby into an adult, but how a fish can evolve into a reptile, etc.

I believe in both. Creation is taken care of by the Creator of the Universe (many call Him God, I call it some Supernatural Entity). Evolution is taken care of by the element created - wherein things are molded - this is done for reasons of survival or even to make it more meaningful

Thank you for your response. What about human beings? Are we an outcome of creation or evolution?

@thesids Right. But the evolution didn't start with apes. It started even ages back, from particles in water.

@excellence7 We are said to have evolved from Apes or Monkeys. That is what those texts and others say. So I guess I have to believe them.

I believe that there is a God who created this universe and the world where we live in , including its inhabitants .

@SIMPLYD I agree with you totally. How can you look at the heavens and earth and not believe it was created? A big bang creates destruction . There is more of a possibility of a tornado going through a junk yard and creating a 747 jet.

@Butchcass4 I don't think creation makes sense. It's a big debate. I'm ready for it. My first question is: If God created the universe, then who created God?

I am pro Big Bang and evolution theories. I see no reason to believe God could magic a universe together or allow the extent of human suffering waged in his name. I am an atheistic Humanist.

Thank you for your response Arthur. I respect your stand. I will then advise you to actively participate in the debate. Please see the above posts and contribute by pouring your ideas out. It will be a good learning opportunity for all of us as I believe we learn more in disagreements than agreements.

While I believe creation is myth, I don't necessarily dismiss the fact the there is no God. I also believe in a 'God' (as many call Him). But even for me, that God is a supreme ENERGY.

There should be a third option. And that is coming to earth from another planet. Some of our stories are so unbelievable that they could only have been possible on another planet.

I don't think this is the third question because the question of evolution versus creation would still be valid for life in the 'other planet' as well.

@excellence7 ..well, god must have done what he did there. Because his magic is hard to believe here. AS YET. Seriously, I am of the same view as Owlwings.

Creation for me. :) I once worked with a gal who firmly believed she was descended from dinosaurs. Nope, not kidding one iota. Never was quite sure where she got that information from...as pretty much every evolution-based theory has dinosaurs developing into birds rather than humans, but whatever floats her boat, I guess. I don't believe in missing links or that we developed in stages. I believe every form of life was created as is, from the very beginning. My reason why? Because I would rather be created in the image of God than in the image of T-Rex.

Thank you for sharing your views though I disagree with your reason. If some lines in some scriptures state that the image of God and human is alike, then I will surely question those scriptures. I have a question for you: If one scripture says that all species were created, then who wrote that scripture? Why was the scripture (s) unable to explain scientifically what a solar eclipse was at that time, and why now the scripture is justifying itself more than explaining itself, in the face of science?

Even I believe in God, I believe in evolution. It is hard to believe that all the humans on this earth came from only two people. Of course this is a metaphor, a way to say that there was a beginning. We have to be a bit more open minded that our ancestors.
