What is rock and roll to me?

I am watching PBS with a show on about Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Rock and roll rolls me up and puts me away. People didn't think it would last. How funny! It was funny but the other day I was listening to the Doors and my grandson comes upstairs asking me who this was. He was instantly a fan. My 12 year old grandson had never heard it before. Does my heart good. When I was in junior high I spent a lot of time at my friend B's house. Her mother was usually gone and we had the run of the house. Her mom had a charge account at the drug store up the hill and B would charge the newest record and we would listen to it until we had either nearly had it worn out or another we liked came out. We also used to listen to Wolf Man Jack in the summers. We'd set the radio in the window and blare it out to the window. Why we never heard anything from the neighbors I don't know. My favorites bands: The Doors, Santana, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Led Zepplin, Arlo Guthrie--Alice's Restaurant (if you haven't heard it, seek It out and listen to it), Joe Cocker, Judy Collins, A/C D/C, Eric Clapton, Sly and the Family Stone, Beach Boys, Everly Brothers, and many more I can't recall.

I loved Rock and Roll music, but living in Europe my favorite were the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and other European singers.

I just never enjoyed the Beatles that much. I liked them better separately than together.

@celticeagle I do not like all their songs, but there are several that I like. I always liked more the Rolling Stones.

Still like like listening to the music out of the 50's . And of course the music that started it all. Alice has a very long story

I enjoy listening to music of the 50's too. Yes, Alice's Restaurant is long but it is well worth it I think.

Music is different things to different people, as individual as one's tastes in food or clothes. Personally, the only bands you listed that I like are the Everly Brothers (mandatory, given that I'm from Kentucky) and the Who. I grew up on country music, so I never was into the "heavy" bands like AC/DC (although I do like some of their stuff in the Bon Scott era) or Led Zeppelin. But that doesn't matter, because I understand exactly what you mean when you say what it does to you.

I like country too, classics. John Cash and many others, variety of music really, anything from big band to folk songs and of course rock and roll. I'm surprised that no one has yet mentioned the king?

See rock and roll to me is the fifties tunes more. The time of The Doors I would say is just rock. However, I love all music and really do not have favorites.
