My grandson reprimanded me

About three years ago we were driving back from a appointment and my daughter, my grandson and myself were in the car. I didn't realize that I was driving over the speed limit. I was tired and just wanted to get home. I was on a straight away and going at a good clip and a policeman pulled me over. At one point he talked to my grandson and asked him how this made him feel and made me feel really bad. Wake up call! So after the policeman gave me my ticket and we were on our way again my grandson started in on me. Very appropriately he told me he was sad and that I needed to not drive fast. I apologized to my family. I just remembered this happening after my grandson just threw a fit because he didn't get what he wanted today. He is smarter than this and he will come around. I need to wait until he is able to and address what I was trying to get across to him at that time. I am a very impatient person and I tend to forget things I need to do so my anxiety grows because I want to get it done SO I DON'T FORGET!!

I think everyone can get impatient at times. It's good though, that your grandson understands about speeding and about doing what is right. I suppose we can all use reminders like that now and then.

I think your grand son was right when he reprimanded you on over speeding. As elders, we should set an example for younger generation, but if we keep flouting rules, it is difficult to make them disciplined.

@celticeagle - I hope now you remain careful, when your grand son is around you?

What good would that have done? Teach the kid that you can get out of things if you say all the right things? Have to disagree with you here.

I am sure you were not driving too fast by purpose. Sometimes we are distracted by the conversation or the music, it is important that your grandson understand this.

I wasn't. Just not being attentive and it was a straight away. We discussed it all the way home.

Speeding is easily done, especially on a straight road and you don't realise.

I was busy having a conversation or listening to the radio and just zoned out on driving.
