Disturbing Smells

I have an acute sense of smells.
There are fragrances that I love and others that I cannot stand.
I dislike the smell of chemical and plastic materials, but even more the smell of bleach.
I am back from my laundry room, I had to use some bleach on the napkins, because there were fruit stains.
Now I continue to feel the smell of the bleach on my hands.
I do not know how many times I have already washed them, but this smell is hard to go.
There is a smell that you particularly dislike?

Bleach is a wonderful cleaning tool, but it is overpowering. There is a bugkiller spray for flies I bought, and it's supposed to be completely safe and non-toxic unless it gets into water supplies. It has a perfumed smell which should be pleasant. But for some reason, this just makes me choke and feel sick. I don't even use it even though it's effective because I really hate the smell of it.

@crazyhorseladycx We do not have flies, this is a good thing, but there are other bugs, wasps, mosquitoes, bumble bees, they like herbs.

Too many to name, but I'll try:
laundry detergent, fabric sheets, most perfumes, after shave, bug spray, Pine Sol, gasoline, motor oil, car exhaust fume, dill pickles, garlic and many many more

Certain perfumes and also certain laundry soaps are really bad. For fruit stains have you tried pouring on liquid hydrogen peroxide? I think that works on fruit as well as on blood stains.

@LadyDuck a smell I cannot stand is anything that has rotted. I love specific smells like the smell of a library and freshly baked bread.

I also have an issue with the smell of bleach. When I use it in the whites (laundry) is it like it went straight up my nose, and I can't get the smell to go away after. It feels like it will be with me for hours afterwards.

@LadyDuck I have tried the bleaches with febreeze in them to see if it would help. It does a little, but then it's a matter of having the heavy bleach smell, and a slight fragrance mixed with it.

@TexanTornado I also tried what they call here "perfumed bleach", they mask the smell with a fragrance, it only helps a bit.

there are not too many smells that bother me... apart from obvious ones... but I do not like the smell of strong garlic...cooking or fish.... and like you it takes me ages to get the smell of bleach of my hands... but I sometimes use salt and vinegar to wash my hands and that helps...

@LadyDuck okay... you can buy a bar of stainless steal, shaped like a bar of soap, and wash your hands with it... and that neutralizes all sorts of odours on your hands like garlic and onion... so it might work on bleach too.... and it does not leave your hands smelling metaliccy either...

@sofssu I don't like the smell of lavender either! I really don't understand why they make a lot of air freshener with lavender fragrance. I can't stand it.

There are some smells that make you reminisce of past times. Whenever I smell lavender it reminds me of furniture polish my grandmother used to use. It is funny how certain smells can remind you of other things or happier times!

I have an unusually acute sense of smell as well. Sometimes it causes me problems around humans. They're actually quite stinky. Bleach is OK with me. So is horse poop. Vulgar perfumes and colognes are not. Bed breath in a human is actually my nemesis.

Some smells also just linger more than others like chemicals and harmful things. Funny how that works. Maybe it is a survival thing.

I can smell the bleach for many hours after using it and I don't like that smell. That's why I use gloves when I am doing the house works. Apart from that, my sense of smell is weak and I think that people around me have a wider variety of smelling sensors.
I find the smell of hair dye very disturbing.

Too many. I don't like the smell of bleach either, but I hate the smell of petrol more. I don't even like the smell of many types of perfume these days, they're just too strong for me.

Yes, bleach is very hard to get rid of once you get it on your hands. There are some perfumes that actually make me sneeze or give me a headache
