barter. If there is a hallocaust this could be our only way to obtain needed things. There will be no money, or banking. Bartering will be the way to go. What do you think? Do you barter for services and such now?

Barter is an efficient way when u live in small communities. See the Japanese anime film "Wolf Children". Effective modern barter system. U exchange food products because you produce one in excess and u need other food too.

I hate the system of bartering and avoid the places which thrive on this whenever I visit countries such as Morocco or Tunisia. I am much happier with the system I am accustomed to, which is look at the price and decide whether I wish to buy the item or not.

@celticeagle They are not likely to sell the item below a certain price, which means that I either end up paying the correct price or a higher price, so I much prefer having a set price to either accept or decline.

And even if you could talk the price down a little you don't want to do that?

I don't personally but my son does and has. It is good for anyone who can offer a service for another service.

@celticeagle ..I think we would need people to record event that led to holocaust and thereafter. Moreover, whatever little they know.

I used to do one for one at school, which basically means if I can have some crisps from you, you can can one from me! It was fun.

I think it is a great idea. I have not done it that much. I think people do need to seriously consider doing it since it is very possible that the American Dollar could crash. I don't think many realize how seriously in debt this country is. Do you realize how much money is being printed?

I have not used it as of yet, but I know when my family go on holiday to other countries they do it a lot to get prices down.
