I used to live in Northeast Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa Arizona. My boys finished school in Tempe Arizona. Tempe is a college town, it is where Arizona State University (ASU) is. They have some nice parks like Kiwanis Park and some others. There is lots of shopping in the area . Then in Mesa there are two really nice off leash dog parks if you want to let your dog run free for a while. It is also close to Scottsdale and Old Scottsdale where they have art galleries, speciality stores, southwestern cultural attractions and an extraordinary nightlife The picture is of Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona

There's definitely a lot of things to do in the area. We recently went to Mesa to take the kids to the Arizona Museum of Natural History. It's a great place to go see dinosaur skeletons, pan for gold, and they even have indoor flash floods on their Dinosaur Mountain. One of these days we're going to get over to the Children's Museum of Phoenix. They have lots of awesome exhibits there, too. I just wish we lived a little bit closer to the area than we do now. We'd get out to these things a lot more often.

Try not to forget to go to The Phoenix Art Museum which is located on North Central Avenue. They do have such great Museums in the area and I am glad you and your family enjoy going every so often.

@Marcyaz Oh, definitely. The kids are a little young for that, but it's one of the institutions that participates in the free day every month for Bank of America cardholders. One of these days I'll actually take advantage of that perk!

It sounds like a great place to live. Do you prefer the big city or the new town that you moved to recently?

@Marcyaz Maybe it's too soon to decide since you have changed cities very recently. Every place has it's positives and negatives it's important to accept both and try to make the best from the opportunities that they offer.

It does make for a great vacation spot but you only want to go in the winter months when the weather is so nice.

So do I as I used to take my dog to the dog park every morning when i lived there in Mesa. They have two off leash dog parks there and one is very large where the other one is a bit smaller. Scottsdale also has 2 or 3 off leash parks also and I had been there with my dog a few times.

@boiboing They have two seperate sections one for timid dogs and then another for the other dogs. Generally they get along together but once in a while there is a fight when the owners have to intervene. I always would sit with my dog at first to determine if any mean dog was there before letting her go out and find a dog to play with.
