If I unfollowed someone then why....

.....am I still getting 'suggestions' from that person? I would assume that if I unfollow someone I should not/would not get any suggestions or notifications from that person. What's the point of unfollowing then?
When I unfollowed that person doesn't that automatically cut us off from each other?

I decided following doesn't do anything except upset people so i quit doing it and now i'm just going to go to most recent for discussions

Only banning does that I think. There are two sides to the story follow and following. You are not following but I suppose they are following you. You can just check their profile and see or even their list to see if your name is there.

I have to admit that I don't get what following does here exactly. There doesn't seem to be a notification when a person you're following posts something. Anyone can suggest things at any time. I figure if I ignore suggestions long enough, people will stop.

@NeldaHoxie what it does it send a bunch of messages to your inbox! LOL I suggested one or two early on and since I would only suggest certain posts to certain people it takes to long to go thru the entire list picking and choosing.

I must admit some people are addicted to tagging others on discussions and when it becomes a norm one get tired of it unless it is from both sides.

I have had some suggestions from someone I'm pretty sure I never opted to follow so I'm pretty confused by this too.
