After a very satisfactory week-end of playing Lawn Bowls and eventually ending (that is not a pun - ha ha) up 23rd out of 52 teams, I need this week to recuperate.
Before I give my summation on the rugby world cup - Very interesting post on the Fairy circles in Africa by @bookbar otherwise known as Jenny.
Thank you to all that sent me suggestions - I like that tool as it keeps me up to date on posts I might miss when I am away. Some I LIKE and some I even give a comment.
Good Evening on this beautiful Sunday evening in South Africa. We can be joyful as our National Rugby team have made it to the Semi finals of the WCR in England and the SA Proteas have been keeping the SA flag honorable in India with a great win again today.
Speaking of - The cricket stadiums in India are well built with very luxurious MAIN VIP areas - its so sad that so many of their people are still living in the slums - I say this with tongue in cheek as we are still in the process of changing our own history - it was just an observation. Countries could spend their monies on upliftment closer to home, rather than lavishing sports grounds.
Do we all have our priorities back to front?
well done to NZ for their win, I was sad to see Ireland knocked out, but then Argentina brought the game . . . as for Australia - LUCKY
and to Scotland the Brave - you were probably the Bravest of them all.
Next week - SA meet the NZ - not sure how I fell as I like both teams and then for the other game - GO ARGENTINA!!!!
So whats your point of view?

The millions of pounds spent on building new stadiums for the Olympic games is ridiculous not to mention the amount of people losing their lives during construction. I think it would be far better if all countries donated money to Greece the birthplace of the Olympics to build and have the Olympics return each four years. It practically bankrupts some countries building these monoliths,

@LadyDuck I could live with that and then all Olympic games be held there forever and ever - That could work for me - it would also hold a certain prestige I think - Gary for President!!! @garymarsh6

I will be rooting for SA principally because it means so much to Catherine (and you of course), but I count Val as a friend too ...
Regarding the opulence of sports grounds etc, and the poverty of the people - some years ago we went to Morocco, and saw an absolutely out of this world mosque. The taxi driver told us that everyone had to give a tenth of their income to build and then maintain it. These were people who had their homes in the gutter, who could barely keep themselves - it seemed so wrong to me.

Sorry that I can't contribute to discussion. Don't watch the game.

I have to admit that I am not a fan of Rugby but I am sure it is exciting for all the teams involved.

Hi! All I can say is, what a sporting weekend! I have no nerves left after our game against Wales, talk about nail biting! And the Proteas needed that win yesterday after the previous loss, I was walking up and down in front of the tv screen, asking how AB could cause that run out! And how our bowlers struggling, thank goodness we won! Congrats on the bowls. I cannot even think about what the game against New Zealand is going to be like. I am blocking it out of my mind for these next few days.

@Inlemay Thanks for the little spotlight...and yes the world does largely have it's priorities back to front, while people starve and live in slums, governments and sports promoters all suffer the 'look at us syndrome' and rampant one upmanship, that is really quite shameful, and then there's Seph Blatter and FIFA, who are really shameful...
