I think everyone knows about Glen Campbell the Country and Western Singer, Songwriter and Guitarist, one of his most popular songs was Rhinestone Cowboy, by the Time I get to Phoenix, Gentle on My Mind and Wichita lineman. Those are just a few of his songs that made the top 10 list. He received many awards in his lifetime and was always a hit in Europe as well. In 2005, Campbell was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2011 he announced he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Campbell went on a final "Goodbye Tour", with three of his children joining him. He sang "Rhinestone Cowboy" as a goodbye. He is now a patient at an Alzheimer's long-term care and treatment facility. What a shame that a person has to end up not knowing his wife or his family.

The disease is so scary :( I have never heard of him, but it is heartbreaking to think he will no longer remember his family :(

Glen Campbell was and always will be one of my all time favorites. I cried when I heard about the alzheimers. My mom had it and I know how and what it does to you. Such a beautiful man and a horrible thing for his family. I was lucky to see him in person one time when I went to a rodeo in Texas.

We must remember that he still is what he was, it's just a breakdown in his brain. Hard on the family because of the loss of his abilities but he is loved by all of us who remember him in his prime.

This is an awful disease. I feel more sorry for the family members of the sufferers. They are the ones who have to watch their loved one descend into a shell of their former self. Towards the end the sufferer is normally oblivious to what is happening.

I have heard of him and such a shame that he ended up with Alzheimer. My dad had dementia or alzheimer but he remembered me and my sisters. All of us. What he remembered were up the place that we last lived as a military man and the rest was forgotten.

That is sad. I think Alzheimer's is a horrible disease to have. Robbing on of their memory. Even though I was never a country music fan, I did enjoy a few of his songs. He did touch many people in his career.
