Ignored Discussion Post

In general, I'm quite happy with how my discussion posts were received on here. No, none of them would be considered an epic post; but they always receive likes and responses. Since my return here in early August, I have had no discussion with no response or no like. Then I went back to my 2012 discussion posts from the old myLot. Although they mostly only received a handful likes or responses, I was getting excited when I could not spot any with zero statistic either. But wait..., I eventually saw one - it's titled 'Indian Rojak'. Not sure why it was ignored. Could be the timing for submission was off back then or something. If anything, that discussion had my picture of the dish I was talking about while my other discussions back then had no picture. Again, I don't know if that's even the reason for zero statistic. (Anyway, I'd like to add the link of that discussion here; but since I'm not 100% sure it's within the rules to do so, then I just won't)

Why not suggest your post that didn't get any notice before? I don't think it would be against the rules to suggest old posts...

That's a good idea - and I didn't think of doing that maybe because I couldn't pass the idea of suggesting my own post, even if it's an old one...

I have a few posts that have no find a responder... yet. You can try to suggest this post to your followers : the members are not the same than in 2012, and maybe some of them will be inspired.

Neither too many members from the older version, nor the ease of finding a friends discussion. Both are missing and I believe that this adds to getting lesser responses many a times.

@topffer You are also welcome to pm me the links to your empty threads. If I can understand your discussion, I will respond to it for you. Maybe if I respond on your threads, others will look at it, too?

Oh gosh, I have not revisited any of my old stuff (unless someone brought it back up)! You know me that I'm not a number person, but I am sure a lot of my posts back then weren't "up there" in numbers. It's very possible I had an ignored or practically ignored post too - but for me I know I didn't make much of a presence in the old days. Maybe it can be suggested to a few current friends, even if it is "old" - at least it won't be zero after that!

You had one epic post - at least for me. Wherein I mentioned about my brother's birthday... okay, How I torture him on his birthday Maybe you should start sending out and use the "Suggest" feature (I know I find it difficult using it). And you can always add a link to Discussions at MyLot - that is acceptable as long as you dont explicitly ask people to reply/participate on that

The most I got was probably somewhere around high 30s for likes or responses on any one discussion. And that was only on one or two discussions. The rest start to die down after receiving maybe 10-15.

@SIMPLYD hahaha, mostly older people are here right? Better quality discussions imho. Too bad the younger ones would only have a few who can relate... Or maybe not? Only our bodies age anyway.

@Marilynda1225 Well, in this case it was the opposite - my zero statistic post had a picture while the other ones with likes/responses had no picture...

Great, it is a nice site where we do all support each other and partake in wonderful discussions. I think that timing and the title of a discussion can greatly affect the number of people that will or will not read it. If you put your discussion out at the same time as someone else puts one up that is very controversial or interesting, its hard to compete. But that is also what makes this site interesting.

Yes, I do think it could have been buried among all of the other, obviously more interesting, posts that were submitted around the same time back then...

Zero? Hmm maybe...because...I didn't join myLot yet at the time? I doubt it's because of not putting a picture though, I see a lot of discussions without pictures that get a lot of responses and comments. It could be the timing. But you're doing great with this discussion!

If you saw it then you'd pick it up as I'm sure you're familiar with the dish, aren't you? Actually, I did attach my picture of the Indian Rojak on that zero statistic discussion. And my other discussions then with likes/responses/comments were mostly without pictures...

@sishy7 You could pm me the link and I can place it into my response on this post, if you would like? I don't think Alex would have a problem if we did it that way, do you? I did not add a picture to either one of my discussions, sishy. My first one has 42 respondents (so far) but my second post didn't do all that well. People don't seem to care for the way I prepare food, I guess. I really don't know what went wrong with that one... I should go check and make sure I am not offending anyone with something I wrote on my post.

Nah, it's alright. I'll let it stay on its current zero statistic status until it changes naturally... Thank you for your kind offer anyway... Besides suggesting it as others have said, I could have put 'Indian Rojak' as one of the tags for this discussion if I wanted to. That will surely bring the old post to the 'You Might Also Like' list on the right...

@DaddyEvil @sishy7 I would be hesitant to put a link to a discussion in another discussion, especially if it is to draw attention and responses to the other discussion. That was a big no-no on myLot before. It could have changed now, but I wouldn't risk it. If the link is for informational purposes or to give credit to someone, such as saying that you got an idea from this other person or took information from their discussion, then that is a different story.

I believe it's got more to do with blog-like posts. More discussions = more responses imho. Blog posts/articles and 1 or two sentence discussions tend to be ignored.

@Unforgettable_Raja For me neither the content of discussion nor the topic matters. All that matters is the OP. You know me, and my responses. Many a times, they have nothing to do with the discussion. And I do that only with people whom I connect, I know they will not mind my insane responses...

@owstalaga Yes, topics have a lot to do on how a discussion is received by viewers. I have plenty discussions back then with only a single like or response. But this particular one managed to get none at all then...

My discussions have not necessarily been monumental, but I do not think that any of them have gotten no responses. One almost did, but Mike took pity on me and responded ... that was many years ago when I was first starting. Since then, I might not have gotten a ton of responses, but I have always had at least one. I do not start a lot of discussions, so that might factor into it. Then again, neither do you, so I have no idea why it would not have gotten at least one response.

@sishy7 Unfortunately, neither Mike nor MysD is here any more. We do still have some of the older members to help out with the newest batch of members. Still, it makes me sad thinking about all the ones that were once here and are not now.
