Today was for me one of those days when you are totally unprepared for what is about to pan out. I got a call early this morning and had to go to the neighboring state to get some urgent work done. I was a bit worried and had to keep telling myself 'worrying won't help you' I meditated for a while on our one and half hour drive .. then I was clam. ready to meet what ever was in store for me. However, things worked out much better than I really expected and I got more out of the whole experience. I generally don't worry too much.. but this experience again taught me life isn't about worrying.. its about living it and facing each day as it comes. Do you worry a lot?

I am a worrier. People tell me that worrying doesn't help anything, but I worry that if I don't worry about things, no one else will. How can you avoid something bad if you are not worried about it?

Ummm, gotta ask so don't get mad, but did worrying ever prevent things from happening? Dad always asked ma that question, just ticked her off most times.

I am past the age of worrying. And too old to remember if I did. After I was diagnosed with lymphoma, I decided to live my life day by day, as best as I could. It has worked fine for me.

@rebelann Mine is not the kind that is cured, but it is on remission. I live every day as happy as I can. I am not thinking about my lymphoma all day nor is the worst thing that has happened to me in mylife.

That is not a fun cancer, hopefully they caught it early enough so the treatments work.

Mom always worried about anything and everything which taught me it's much more important to simply live life rather than worry about it.

That's true @sofssu but it wasn't her intention to teach me to simply live life, she actually thought I was nuts cuz I didn't worry as she did

Worrying wont help. Focus on having a positive thought in our head. Because what we are thinking attracts the events in our lives. :)

@wiLLmaH being positive attracts other to us.. it helps us see the opportunities in each instance rather than the problems associated with them.

Sometimes it is hard not to worry. However, it never seems to help anything!

@DeborahDiane It never helps.. so why worry? Its just another emotion to be mastered.

I am the poster child for worry. And it has never helped at all, that I recall. If we can "plan" about it rather than worry, that at least would be productive.

@ThankyouLord I am surprised taht with a user name like that you call yourself a poster child of worry.. Cast your burdens unto Jesus, come to me all you who are heavy ladened and I'll give you rest.. Where there is trust there is no worry is one of the priceless lessons I learned in my faith walk.

Sometimes I can't help but be a worrier also but I know it is not good and will not help in anyway so I'm trying very hard to avoid this bad habit. God does not want us to worry so whenever I am tempted to worry, I always pray and ask God to take care of the situation.

@sofssu yes a number of verses in the Bible discourages us from worrying this is why it always good to go back to the Bible and be reminded over and over again to increase our faith.

@salonga He says do not be afraid , do not worry , do not be anxious over and over again. Where there is faith there is no worry.. cast your cares unto Jesus for he cares for you. I can go on quoting, but I guess you know.. I want you to remember this my friend.. Faith cancels fear, fear cancels faith.

It is a natural reaction when one does not know what to expect.

@sofssu If it was that easy then the word worry would not have been in the dictionary But must say I have got over it after a lot of analysis.

I do tend to be a bit of a worrier, but have been trying hard not to be in recent years. I wasn't aware of it, but my sister tells me our mother was a worrier.

@valmnz Once you become aware of it its easier to go all the way and root out the habit. Most people don't seem to be aware of these thought that creep in.

@else34 even if bad things happen worrying makes the anticipation unbearable.. the phases when you go through stuff seem like insurmountable and the future like none exists.

@LadyDuck That makes life unbearable and our imagination could take on darker shades - doesn't it?

@LadyDuck Aww.. I can understand how you can drive yourself nuts with fear. I have never been there really, but I used to worry a bit,.now its very rare that I worry.. I have learned to drive away such dark imaginations and depressing emotions.

@sofssu Yes, it is so true. If my husband is on the road and he does not come back at the time I supposed he should, I start to draw in my mind the worst scenario. It's crazy.

I worry a lot, so much so that the doctor says I have anxiety. I can't stop the what if's from entering my brain and just sitting there, one after another. Worrying doesn't help, and I know that, but getting it to stop has never been something I've been very good at.

@fawkes62 Shannon there isn't much to it.. its actually easy to learn to stop anxiety bt practicing relaxation techniques. I use a simple one.. I imagine a beautiful calm place, placid waters, dragon flies hovering above, green meadows, the tinkling of cow bells and lambs playing around.. I see myself lying on the grass and relaxing.. and stay there until I feel calm.. Then I plan on what can be done in that situation. Yes, it takes practice.. but its easy.
