thinking caps on and help me. We had bed bugs. Back in the summer we found that we were infested. Housing sent the fumigators out and we got this handled. No bed bugs now. I was sort of freaked out now however, and think I might even have a phobia. I will not get another second hand bed. Oooh! Freaks me out! Can't afford a new bed either. So, in August I got an air mattress. It was so nice and comfy and worked fine. Well, I guess I blew it up too much and one night it gave up this HUGE pop and now it has a big bubble on it and I can't sleep on it. Can't find the hole if there is one. All I did was blow it up a little more every three or four days or more when it seemed to get a little droopy. Just a little bit.
So, here I am ready to go get groceries at Walmart on Wednesday. I am wondering if I should go ahead and get another air mattress or if you guys might have another idea. I know. You'll will probably say "why don't you sleep one the couch?" My daughter sleeps there some nights and I can't go up and down stairs to my room due to my hip and knees. I am going to be 64 in a few days and I really need a comfy bed since I spend a lot of time there. Being on SSI I can't afford much. This air mattress was a great price so I jumped on it. Literally. Well, not really.
Do you guys have any ideas? I have no family(except my granddaughter) and no close friends here if they would be of any help in this dilemma. Inexpensive, cheap, etc. Need to decide in the next day or so.

I guess that is what I did. Unbeknonst to me. I just enflated it a little every few days when it seemed be getting deflated a bit and not firm like I like it so I can get up off it easier.

With an air mattress you have to figure that it is just going to wear out sooner than a regular one. You will probably have to get a new one and be careful about over inflating it.

I just bought a new mattress for me. It was the best buy I cpuld have made and I guess that if I hadn´t had the money I would have used my credit card or whatever aid I could get. It meant the difference between starting the day with pain in the knees and back and being reasonable healthy for my age

How nice for you! Yeah, it's nice if you have a credit card. I don't. Must be nice when you have money to get the things that help you be more healthy.

@sugartoes I don´t think that anyone has enough money for everything. We are always making choices. I changed my mattress after 30 years because of health problems and you choose to spend your money feeding your 8 dog pets. I did not want to get a dog companion when was diagnosed with cancer because I didn´t dare leave an "orphan" dog should I die soon. Choices...

There was a time when I slept on an air mattress and I loved it. I always slept so good. We also bought ours at Walmart and it was as high as a normal bed. I'm not sure what my brother paid for our mattresses. I hope you are able to get it all worked out.

@simone10 ...May have been. I think one of the cats may have popped my last one. I got a smaller one and so far it is fine.

@celticeagle It may have been the same brand. I wouldn't be able to have one now because of our puppy Daisy and her sharp little claws.

This is not something that I have ever thought about. You could try checking if anywhere in the area provides foam, which could be covered and suffice as a mattress. The problem is that it may need to be cut specially, but should still be cheaper than a store bought mattress.

@sugartoes ...Don't be sorry. Every little bit helps. I don't want to go back to the floor again. Ugh! But, if I had to, I would have to have more padding. Ouch!! So would keep this in mind if that ever happened.

Can you afford to lease a bed from a Rent A Center type place? Then you just make small payments every month until you own it.

O, our mattress is 7 years old and still feel comfortable sleeping on it. I don't think an air mattress is good for us (junior senior .I am 60) . . what we really need is something not very soft and not very hard either to sleep on. O, well, individual differences though.

I like mine firm. I think that is what happened to this one. It kept getting to feeling rather whimpy so I would add a little air. Maybe I am not supposed to. I don't know but I would sure like to have a comfortable spot to sleep.

I would get another air mattress or put a real mattress on lay-a-way and pay for it bits at a time until paid. My kids love an air mattress and one sleeps on one every night.

Air bed are perfect. Maybe you need a frame to hold it together so you don't need to pump it daily. Some 2x12 would work perfect and they are sort of cheap too. You can make a box to sit it in. I have a water bed but I just made a 2x12 box to sit my in so it stays nice and firm and no need to add a lot of water to it.

It's not a water bed. It's a air mattress. I don't think a frame wouldn't do any good in keeping it firm.
