My Husband is a Guinea Pig!

Well ... my husband isn't exactly a guinea pig, but he has been on an experimental drug for four years for his chronic kidney disease and it has been a big help to him. No one in the world has been on the drug longer than him, so he has been a guinea pig for the pharmaceutical company. They are very pleased with how well he has done, too. The next two days, I may not be online much. We are going to spend a lot of time on Thursday and Friday meeting with a team of doctors from the pharmaceutical company who want to check him out, ask him questions about his diet, exercise, etc. Some of you from Bubblews will remember that last January the drug company made of video of him and me talking about what an improvement the medication has made in his life. If you don't see me around much the next couple of days, you'll know why!

Good luck to your husband, I hope that the pharma companies can come out with something that can cure his chronic disease.

While not a cure, this medication has already prolonged his life by several years, which is wonderful since he is in his 70's.

He is lucky to be a guinea pig especially since it is improving his quality of life. I hope you will tell us more when you are back on.

@DeborahDiane We debated weather we wanted to do trials with my hubby and the Parkinsons but opted for traditional and naturopathic treatment but I wonder now if maybe we should have tried it. I was just afraid if he got the placebo we would have wasted a lot of time.

Yes, it has really improved his quality of life. I cannot give out the specific name of the medication or other details until the FDA has approved it. I hope they do that soon, so other people can use it. It really has improved his life.

That is good news. Since he is kind of a guinea pig, I hope he's getting a good discount on the medicine

I hope it all goes well, @DeborahDiane. These appointments can be stressful, even when you are reporting good news. It's good he can get the medication for free, though.

I agree it can be stressful. We've already talked to more than a dozen of the top kidney doctors in the world, and we have more to talk to today.
