After New Ross we went through the Wicklow mountains and on to stay with a friend of Damian's. If you're able to watch the slideshow you will see we passed through Hollywood. Never one to miss an chance to provide a photo opportunity, the townsfolk have done their own take on Hollywood and erected large white letters in a field above the town.
Damian's friend is a luthier (makes stringed instruments) and also plays traditional Irish music. His wife also plays several instruments and has a lovely singing voice. They live in an old farmhouse at the top of valley. The pylons carrying electricity cables are a bit of an eyesore but the stone bridge is a classic.
The sheep were sheltering under a tree which was awash with white blossom. Another tree was obviously the first choice as a scratching post with strands of wool hanging off the lower branches. I was also able to get a photo of a sign telling us to beware of deer. This is one sign we don't have in our area.

The trip sounds wonderful and so does the music. I loved the photos, the bridge and the sheep. I missed the Hollywood sign so looked again and it made me laugh. I had been looking into the distance looking for the sign and it was right there in front of my nose.

@JudyEv In the US there are lots of stone building, bridges and roads. Back in the depression the CCC Civilian Conservation Corps built thousands of things that are so obvious today. All trails in the state parks were built then. Watkins Glen and Buttermilk Falls that my sister and I camped in a few years ago was breathtaking with the work of the CCC. Photo was taken there while hiking Watkins Glenn

@PainsOnSlate That's an incredible photo, especially when you blow it up. Don't people look insignificant in some of these places?

The first time we visited Ireland I was in awe of the beautiful bridges. They were everywhere and I had Vince taking photos of them all. We don't have many at all in Australia but stone is a readily available commodity in Ireland. I think they made stone walls to get the stones off the paddocks so they could grow something.

It won't be too many years and they'll be over for us too. That's why we're hoping to get back next year.

It's very pretty and so far we've been lucky with the weather there. I haven't been in winter.

Wonderful video. The friend seems so talented making string instruments.

You should really try to go there. It is as beautiful as it looks and the people are super friendly.

The wool reminded me of Halloween. Self-shedding sheep were once unknown in Australia so you didn't get scenes like this.

The first time I went to ireland and Britain I was blown away by all the lovely stone bridges. They have so much character compared to the ones built today.
