Stockpile Soup

I had started my soup made from canned chicken and other things I have on hand before I saw the article. Evidently there is a website that posts recipes that feature things that have been on sale at the grocery store or Wal Mart.
Today "stockpile soup" was the topic. It talked about which items from the last week or so grocery ads could be used to make a nice soup.
High winds and cold air have come to our part of Kansas, so this is a good soup day.
Here is what is in my soup, because I had it and need to use it. I did not drain any of the canned veggies and things:
2 large cans of white meat chicken, 1 can Rotel tomatoes, 1 can black beans, 1 can ranch seasoned pinto beans. I chopped up the last three small cloves of garlic, a small yellow onion and half a red bell pepper, half a green bell pepper to put in the soup. Also added about a half bag of whole kernel corn from the freezer.
I did not add salt as canned foods are high in salt already. I may put turmeric and cumin in the soup. We will either eat it with tortilla chips or some crusty bread. So I guess we can all cook from our stockpiles.

@Rollo1 @Jessicalynnt I would have called it taco soup or southwestern chicken soup. It is yummy.

I do not see the article on my feed anymore. There are at least two stockpiling groups that make menus etc. on FB. Stockpiling moms is one of them.

I have to be careful with the chips and breads and sides. I was going to make potato soup but thought this would have a lot fewer carbs.

I love soups, specially when cold weather comes around. But I don“t use cans: I make my soups from scratch. I save all sorts of broths at home. Many times, when I only need a deboned piece of meat, I buy one with the bone for a smaller price. Then I put it to boil in my biggest pot with herbs, onion and garlic. When I want to have a specially tasty cooked carrot salad, I boil the carrots there.
Broths and legumes are frozen then in smaller quantities so that I can mix them later on.
I have heard that in the US, canned food is much cheaper than the fresh produce. Not so here. And it is not so difficult to cook different soups by mixing what I froze some time ago.

When I am back to my regular routine that is much how I cook. I love to boil meat with bone in because it is cheaper. I prefer frozen vegetables and find them much more affordable than canned. I usually do my beans and legumes from scratch. I save all the cooking water and broth and little bits of vegetable juice or tomato sauce.

We do not have soups as a part of our cuisine although a lot of us have added them now. I like to make my own soup and my favourite is sweet corn and crab soup the Chinese way.

Oooh that sounds good. Are curries like what we would call stews? Or are curries part of your cuisine?

I had some frozen chili soup in the freezer last week and I added things like the last of the salsa and some other veggies and it was very good. What was left from today I froze in portions to eat later this week.

Interesting soup. I don't make homemade soups much anymore. I used to make meatball soup and oxtail and they went over pretty well. I like to cook them in slow cooker too so the flavors merge.

That does sound like a great way to use all of last weeks bargains. I have a butternut squash that I need to use when I get home.

Stockpile soup! I like the name. I suppose I make this every now and then, just never called it that. I will from now on!

It's amazing what they think of. Fancy having a website for making stuff from the specials. Now I've heard everything. The soup sounds delicious.
